As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,761. Geography Crab Orchard is located at 37°44'27" North, 81°13'46" West (37.740792, -81.229307)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there are 2,761 people, 1,120 households, and 807 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 469.6/km² (1,217.2/mi²). There are 1,219 housing units at an average density of 207.3/km² (537.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.19% White, 0.91% African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
