need information on starting a small business in Clarksburg West Virginia?
Answer:
First, check out why West Virginia scored 49th in the list of business friendly States on Forbes.com. Only Louisiana in the wake of Katrina scored lower. West Virginia is a racketeer State. The minute you file for your business license, every State agency will have it's hand out looking for a cut of the action before you get started. You'll be heavily regulated, routinely audited by the State tax Dept. and offered absolutely nothing in return for the high taxes you will pay. You will be limited in getting business insurance because most major companies have pulled out of the State. So you're gonna pay a boat load. Even though the workers comp has been privatised, you will still pay a much higher rate than you would on a comparable employee in...say... Virginia which, ironically is Forbes best State to do business in. West Virginia is a nice place to visit, an o.k. place to live, but about the last place on Earth I'd ever own another business. We relocated our business from Hampshire County WV to Frederick County, VA two years ago and never looked back. I always discourage people from starting a business in WV. But forewarned is forearmed...good luck.

Anyone live near Clarksburg, West Virginia? Question: My family (myself, husband and our children) is looking to move to the Clarksburg/Weston/Buckhannon area. We went on vacation in the area about two years ago and my die hard Jersey boy absolutely loved it! Our current lease is expiring soon, and it is SO EXPENSIVE here in NJ. Any ideas, tips, leads, etc.?
Answer:
I live in White Hall which is only 10 miles north of Clarksburg. It is not expensive to live here in West Virginia. The average individual income is around $30,000 a year which can be very easy to live on. Most houses sell for around $150,000. Nice houses for rent can be hard to find though. But you can find places for around $500 a month. It is usually better and cheaper to own your home. Check out the home listings with www.realtor.com or www.homesandland.com. They will give you the homes in that area.

Where is a good place to live, about an hour from Mannington WV ? Bridgeport, Clarksburg, other ideas? Question: My family is planning to move to West Virginia or Pennsylvania in 2008. We need to be about an hour away from Mannington WV due to family there. Where is a good place? Bridgeport/Clarksburg? My husband is in the legal field. We want a family friendly place with lots of shopping for me : ).
Answer:
Living about an hour from the Clarksburg/Bridgeport area either of those two cities would probably be your top choice because of their size, shopping and family-friendly atmosphere. Morgantown is another choice as well although it can tend to be a bit crowded when the WVU school year is on-going. Personally I like Clarksburg/Bridgepot better over Morgantown although the latter is, of course, closer to Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania.

I'm an African American male looking to move to the Clarksburg,WV area. Are there any good places to live? Question: I've heard alot of things about West virginia and i'm a little bit nervous about moving here because of all the stories I have been told. Is it a good area for a young African American male to live or will I face racial issue in the Clarksburg area. I was thinking Morgantown or Fairmont would be better to live then Clarksburg. Any advice would be helpful.
Answer:
Morgantown would be the better choice due to the presence of the University - Clarksburg is a huge FBI office and I'm sure some of the neighborhoods are diverse. What happened with the girl and 6 people was a horrible deviation from typically good-natured West Virginians.

Foster dogs? Question: HELP!!! I'm in Clarksburg West Virginia and I am in desperate need of help. We have moved to Clarksburg and can't find anyone who will rent to us with our dogs. I am in need of a foster home or ideas of what do to with my dogs till we can find a place that will let us rent. We can't afford to buy and we've checked kennels and they want $800 a month. more than what we'd be able to afford. The Humane Society can't take them due to the fact that they are over run. Plus they said something about not having a foster program. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated...
Answer:
You might want to try looking for a local dog sitter, or someone who has a dog-oriented business, and find out if they might be able to "board" your dogs at a reasonable cost until you can find a home that will allow you to have dogs. Even if they don't do this regularly, they may make an exception if it will allow them to make a little extra money.
Try connecting with local dog lovers, pet stores, rescues, etc... who might be able to direct you to local resources. Sometimes the little mom-and-pop pet stores have useful information. Besides helping you find a place to board your dogs, they may also know of rentals that allow pets.
Good luck!

Does the FBI need EVERYONES fingerprints, palm prints, retinal scans and facial characteristics???!!!? Question: CLARKSBURG, West Virginia (CNN) -- The FBI is gearing up to create a massive computer database of people's physical characteristics, all part of an effort the bureau says to better identify criminals and terrorists.
The bureau is expected to announce in coming days the awarding of a $1 billion, 10-year contract to help create the database that will compile an array of biometric information -- from palm prints to eye scans.
Kimberly Del Greco, the FBI's Biometric Services section chief, said adding to the database is "important to protect the borders to keep the terrorists out, protect our citizens, our neighbors, our children so they can have good jobs, and have a safe country to live in."
But it's unnerving to privacy experts.
"It's the beginning of the surveillance society where you can be tracked anywhere, any time and all your movements, and eventually all your activities will be tracked and noted and correlated," said Barry Steinhardt.
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-1QjXIHIweLFD5T2wUKs-?cq=1&p=146
The FBI says it will protect all this personal data and only collect information on criminals and those seeking sensitive jobs.
The ACLU's Steinhardt doesn't believe it will stop there.
"This had started out being a program to track or identify criminals," he said. "Now we're talking about large swaths of the population -- workers, volunteers in youth programs. Eventually, it's going to be everybody."
RP!!! You're back!! How many now??
Answer:
OF COURSE!!! IT'S FOR OUR SAFETY!!! God in Heaven the FBI should plant an agent in every American home to make us all safe!!!! The FBI agent could do great things, like make sure that porno flick your about to slide into the DVD player is not obscene!! Make sure your wife's nighty is not too naughty and does not violate community standards!! God in Heaven make it happen!!!

Answer:
I'm sure West Virginia has its share of racists and such, but I doubt it's any worse than any other state in the south. Stick to larger cities, you're less likely to have trouble there simply because they're more educated in larger cities. Living in a small town is a good way to wind up with a burning cross in your front yard, but that's probably true for most of the rural south. Just look at Jena, LA if you don't believe me.
