What was the Buffalo creek disaster in West Virginia.?

    Answer:
Twenty-five years ago, one of the deadliest floods in U.S. history occurred in southern West Virginia's Buffalo Creek hollow. Negligent strip mining and heavy rain produced a raging flood. In a matter of minutes, 118 were dead and over 4,000 people were left homeless. Seven were never found.

which is the best route to go to north carolina from buffalo?
    Question:
mapquest shows a route via pennsylvania (through pittsburgh) , west virginia and virginia. yahoo maps shows through pennsylvania, maryland (baltimore) and virginia (richmond). distance and time is almost same but i am not sure which one is the best route. i do not want to travel through the mountain .

    Answer:
My parents live near Jamestown NY and I live in VA near the NC border. It depends on which part of NC that you are travelling to. If it is west of Raleigh, use the way past Pittsburgh and through WV, but this is through mountains. The highway is relatively level and well kept, though. If it is east of Raleigh, come down through the middle of PA, a short trip through MD and WV, and mostly through VA. This way is also through mountains and a lot of secondary roads, but is the well-travelled. I could give you better specifics if you want. I travel up home quite often!

Question for anyone who is an experienced traveler to/from Toronto to/from the Southern states?
    Question:
I need to travel up to Toronto for a family reunion next week. I've been up before, and I usually take the route from Raleigh up through Virginia to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, up by Pittsburgh and up through Erie into Buffalo. A friend told me about a faster way, going through Richmond Virginia, and up by Washington by I95 to 70. I was wondering if any one has done the Washington route before? Is it faster or slower? Any help is appreciated!

    Answer:
I travel down to Jacksonville all the time. I95 and I70 combination is what I use. I think it is easier. Going to Pittsburgh and Erie seems a little off the wierd. Because you are going too far west and then back tracking eastwards to Buffalo.

How hard is it to get into these colleges?
    Question:
Buffalo State (New York), SUNY Oswego (New York), Lock Haven (Pennsylvania), Clarion (Pennsylvania), West Georgia, West Virginia I need to know because I have a bit of a problem, I was very ill 9th grade and some of 10th so I did poorly those 2 years... I got all 90's junior year and probably this senior yeah but my GPA is still only a 76%... I think that if I write admission essays I definatly have a chance to explain my situation, and if they looked into it the medical records are all there to prove that I had a problem

    Answer:
SUNY Oswego isn't competitive. SUNY Buffalo is moderately competitive. I believe in the SUNY system it's just one application and you check off which schools you want to apply to. Check off a few of them and you'll be sure to get into one of them. You can also call an admissions officer at one and ask which of them are open admission - that is, they accept anyone. You can always go for a couple years and then transfer to a better school. Also, consider having your doctor write a letter on letterhead that you include in your application as additional information, or maybe add it to your school records so it will get sent to the colleges with your transcript. Good luck!

How can I use Google Maps to find my own custom route ... not the one they provide?
    Question:
I am traveling down to North Carolina in a few weeks from Buffalo, NY. If I put in Directions "Buffalo, NY > Durham, NC", it gives me Googles route, which goes all through West Virginia and PA. I've done that route before and I really don't like it since it gets really isolated in West Virginia. A friend told me about the route that goes through Washington and Richmond down to Raleigh. I want to find this route, but how could I make Google maps or Google Earth to show custom directions for me? If you know of any other online map service (Yahoo maps, etc) that does this, then that's fine too :-)

    Answer:
I never use Google Maps. I use Yahoo!Maps. And when I put Buffalo, NY in as the source and Durham, NC in as the destination, it came back coming through DC and Richmond. http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newaddr=&taddr=&csz=bu ffalo%2C+ny&country=us&tcsz=durham%2C+nc&tcountry=us I got the same route when I used Google Maps. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=buffalo+ny&dad dr=durham+nc&ie=UTF8&z=6&om=1

Which 1 of these upsets would really make your weekend?
    Question:
    1. #23 Michigan over #7 Ohio St. 2. Kansas St. over #6 Missouri 3. Vanderbilt over #19 Tennessee 4. Mississippi over #1 LSU 5. Iowa St over #4 Kansas 6. #21 Cinncinati over #5 West Virginia 7. Texas tech over #3 Oklahoma 8. Buffalo over New England 9. Miami over Philadelphia 10. New York Jets over Pittsburgh The best reason gets the 10 points.

    Answer:
Texas Tech over Oklahoma. My reason is that I want Kansas to move up to #2 and go undefeated until the BCS Championship game. I also want Kansas to get waxed (which they will) in this game. I want this to happen so that the unhappy people in Kansas will understand and have justification why their "undefeated" team was ranked behind a few other 1 loss teams. To "put them in their place" (Kansas) for say. Go Jayhawks! (aka tiger bait)

where should mlb expand (3 AL, 3 NL 1east, 1 central, 1 west)?
    Question:
East- portland, maine -montreal, quebec, canada -louisvlle, kentucky -newark, new jersey- charlotte, north carolina -hamptons -jacksonville, florida -montgomery, alabama -puerto rico- nashville, tennessee -memphis, tennessee -arlington, virginia-columbus, ohio- buffalo, new york -hartford, conneticut- orlando, florida- richmond, virginia- oklahoma city, oklahoma West- las vegas, nevada -new orleans, louisiana -portland, oregon -vancouver, bc, canada -san antonio, texas- el paso, texas- albequerque, new mexico- boise, idaho -salt lake city, utah -calgary, alberta, canada -tuscon, arizona -omaha, nebraska -wichita, kansas -honuloulu, hawaii-riverside, california -austin, texas

    Answer:
In the east it would be hard to say about Montreal (maybe getting back an "Expo" name?). Louisville would be cool (Call them the "Sluggers"). Personally I'd look at Memphis if any would be picked out of that line followed maybe by either Jacksonville or Charlotte. In the west it would be interesting to see a team up in Calgary so that would be my first choice followed perhaps by San Antonio. I couldn't see Boise getting one, Omaha has enough trouble getting anyone to go to AAA ballgames while Wichita I'd think would be too close to KC.

these colleges, these are my "i wanna go to these schools" choices, i've narrowed it down but i want to know if i've narrowed it down to good schools. Oh, and i havent visited any of them yet. Alvernia College D'Youville College East Carolina University Gannon University James Madison University Misericordia Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Springfield College Towson University University at Buffalo University of New England Utica College West Virginia University

    Answer:
I say University at Buffalo would be perfect for you. I heard that there's a lot of fun ways to learn and many people to meet. Also, they have all kinds of clubs activity that you could be interests in. However, I can't choose what school you have to go to so just go with the flow. You'll know what college you want to go to someday soon. Just curious, what career do you want to have? Could you answer that for me? Maybe I could figure out which ones could be the absolute the best one to go to.

What will Rutgers record be in 2007?
    Question:
The schedule looks like this: Buffalo Navy Norfolk State Maryland Cincinnati at Syracuse South Florida West Virginia at Connecticut at Army Pittsburgh at Louisville

    Answer:
Rutgers will have another banner season, they're should be 7 and 0 undefeated heading into their match up against West V. If they beat West V. Their final game at Louisville should be for a BCS game or title game. Now after i say how good they're, their defense and offense should performed like they should, they should be in the thick of things. Ray Rice is a stud, but your QB is in consistence, 12 TDS and 13 INTS that not good enough, but he's should improve this year.

Colorado Buffaloes in AP Top 25 rankings this week?
    Question:
they beat Colorado state 38-17 then Eastern Washington 31-24' and 2nite they beat West Virginia (#21 in AP polls) 17-14 in OT I believe they should be in the high 20's, you?

    Answer:
Colorado will definitely crack 25 this week #24 or 25...next week they will really be tested in Jacksonville, but if they win that, look for them to go to 15-20..if they win in Jacksonville that will be 4-0 against 2 ranked teams..their schedule doesn't get any easier..but i think they got a chance against KU as they are not as good as they were last yr (It will be a longshot against the Longhorns & Tigers, but its all about momentum!!)..Buffs could be the sleeper team of the North, and they could play OU for the Big 12 title if they gain momentum going into the Missouri game. This team has unbelievable potential (that was WVU's best game of the season keep in mind)..and they haven't even reached their peak yet..GO BUFFS!!!

We're freezing in NY...What are you doing to keep warm in these near zero degree night time temps...?
    Question:
Deep Freeze Grips Midwest, Northeast Cold Temperatures Linked to Seven Deaths By WILLIAM KATES AP (Feb. 6) - After an unusually warm December and a mostly snow-free January, winter returned with a vengeance Tuesday to the upper Midwest and Northeast, dumping heavy snow on parts of New York and keeping temperatures well below zero in many cities. Cold Snap Maps: Current Windchills Windchill Forecast More Coverage: Local Seven-Day Forecast Talk About It: Post Thoughts The bitter cold and bone-chilling winds forced dozens of schools in New York, Wisconsin and Michigan to close for a second day, including districts in Buffalo, Rochester and Milwaukee. "I knew we'd have to pay up somewhere down the line for all that nice weather," said Chris Sachel, who owns a drive-in restaurant outside Fulton, northwest of Syracuse. Cold air from the Arctic stretched from the northern Plains through New England, and temperatures were below zero as far south as the mountains of West Virginia. At least seven deaths had been blamed on slippery roads and the bone-chilling temperatures. The cold wind picked up moisture from the Great Lakes, creating lake-effect squalls that have dumped 3 to 4 feet of snow this week on parts of New York state at the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Annual snowfall in the area averages more than 20 feet. Frigid Temperatures The lake-effect squalls continued Tuesday, and meteorologists expected the weather pattern to continue through early next week. "All we can do at this point is wait it out until Mother Nature is done kicking us," said Randy Bateman, mayor of Oswego, which declared a snow emergency, banning all nonessential travel so plows could clear roads.

    Answer:
We don't turn up the heat, it's too expensive. It's really cold here too, around -20 every day, and I get cold a lot. I'll put my sweatshirt on and my robe over it. You could also take a hot shower/bath. After all of that, I drink hot chocolate, or maybe if you wanted to hot coffee. Exercising is a great way to heat up, even if it's really cold outside. You could find some indoor activities, like jump roping or vigorous aerobics. Good luck on staying warm.

Here I go again. Draft picks for next year.?

Houston Texans: Dan Connor, OLB, Penn State 26. Green Bay Packers: Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona 27. Denver Broncos: Frank Okam, DT, Texas 28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jasper Brinkley, ILB, South Carolina 29. Philadelphia Eagles: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami 30. San Francisco 49ers: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma 31. Dallas Cowboys: Dwight Lowery, CB, San Jose State New England had two First Round picks. Thats why 32 is missing. They lost New England 1st Rd pick, but not the pick that they got in the 49rs trade. Ben Grubbs was a first rounder last year. See Baltimore never had the chance to replace Adalius Thomas, so Groves can play LB and probably start for the Ravens. San Fran traded one of there 2008 1st rd picks to New England last year for New Englands 2007 1st round pick. Im using current standings. Think about it, in a couple of years Lauarnitus and Merriman together. That would be pretty scary. Shaun Alexander is getting old. And the saints need a cornerback because their secondary is horrendous. I actually have the Saints getting a Corner in round two as well.

    Answer:
Wow, Honestly pretty impressive, although i dont think that slaton will fall that far i think he is heading to the giants, I have Adarius going to the chargers. Good picks though most of the time im an a$$ hole but apparently you know your stuff. Keep em comin throughout the year and Il do one once we see who comes out as underclassmen
