I'm moving to Bellingham, Washington area. I have two sweet Pitbulls any suggestions on how to find housing? Question: We are in need of non-breed restricted houses, apartments, townhomes. In Mount Vernon, Sedro Woolley, Burlington or Bellingham WA. Our Pitbulls are very sweet and well trained. Please give any suggestions you may have.
Answer:
Hi-- You are going to love Bellingham! I lived there for several years and it is beautiful. As for the dogs, first you can do a search on apartments.com http://www.apartments.com/Washington/NorthwestWashington/Bellingh am,Everett&Vicinity/Bellingham . Check the box for "large dogs". There are apartments that do accept dogs with a deposit.
Also, I had a friend with 3 big dogs and she had good rental references and was always able to find homes. You may have a little better luck on the outskirts of Bellingham if you are looking for a house. I think if you get letters of reference and go talk to the people in person about your dogs, then you should be able to find a place.

Considering a move from north Texas to either Spokane, WA or Burlington, VT. Which locale is better and why? Question: My wife and I are in our early 30s, no kids, white collar jobs. We are looking to move someplace with more opportunities for outdoor recreation (hiking, mountain biking, fishing, skiing, etc.) than the DFW area, someplace smaller than the DFW metroplex, a place with a high quality of life and someplace with a milder climate than Texas. Nightlife and culture are also important, but we're realistic about the fact that our two "targets" (Spokane and Burlington) are not NYC or San Francisco. We've spent time in both Washington and Vermont (loved both states), but not specifically in Spokane or Burlington. Have some flexibility in that we don't need to find jobs immediately upon arrival at our destination, but would need to be employed within about 6 months after arrival. Please tell me the pros and cons of each place and which place you would choose based on the above considerations. Thanks.
Answer:
If you are looking for outdoor activities, I would say Washington state. But I will say right away I have never been to Vermont. I just know that even people who have been all over the country always praise the amount of outdoor activities to be found in Washington state. If you are not that crazy about snow I would suggest you consider Seattle instead of Spokane though. Seattle rarely gets snow, and rarely goes below freezing in the winter. The job market of Seattle is much better than Spokane as well. If you want more of a downtown type of nightlife I would say Seattle would be better than Spokane.
The biggest thing to decide is if you want a west coast way of life or an east coast way of life. Everyone that has lived on both coasts usually says the same things. East coast is more fast paced, west coast is more laid back. Although I am not sure the laid back applies to Los Angeles :)
The job market in Spokane is not the greatest, it really depends on what field you are in and what your experience and education levels are. I have a friend who had a masters in management information systems and cannot get a job with it in Spokane because every place wantes experience not just education. So that really depends on your field and experience.
Here are a few links to some sites for Spokane outdoors activities.

Your opinion please, Prosecutor says accused killer is an illegal immigrant are the streets really safe? Question: MOUNT HOLLY — A Pemberton Township man was in the country illegally and free on bail in another case when he wounded his ex-girlfriend and killed her boyfriend Saturday, a prosecutor said.
Jesus A. Avila, 22, a native of Mexico who now lives on Kinsley Road in Pemberton Township, shot Gilbert Parra and the 17-year-old girl outside a house on Washington Avenue in Burlington City, said James A. Ronca, deputy first assistant Burlington County prosecutor.
Ronca said Avila was in the United States illegally, but he did not know how long the suspect has been in the country.
Ronca said Avila killed Parra while free on $5,000 bail for creating a false public alarm. Ronca did not know the circumstances surrounding the charge, but state law says the charge can be filed against someone who initiates or circulates a false warning about a fire, a bomb or a similar emergency.
A judge yesterday kept Avila's bail at $1 million during the suspect's first court appearance since his arrest Saturday.
Avila was being held in Burlington County Jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Ronca told Superior Court Judge Patricia Richmond LeBon that Avila has tattoos that identify him as a gang member. Ronca emphasized, however, that the killing was not related to gang activity.
After the hearing, Ronca said an argument that led to the shooting was prompted by Avila's harassment of the girl, whose name has not been released.
Police officers who responded to a 911 call of a shooting at about 3:10 a.m. found Parra lying outside the Burlington City house and the girl inside the house, prosecutors said.
Parra, 19, of Burlington City had been shot several times. He was flown by helicopter to Capital Health System's Fuld Campus in Trenton, where he was pronounced dead.
The girl was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she treated for a gunshot wound to the ankle.

Answer:
The LA Times wrote that 95% of the warrants for murder in LA county were for ILLEGALS. Today, in Oklahoma City, 65 gang bangers were arrested. 63 of them were illegals! It's time for the government to organize a massive round-up of illegal aliens and ship them back to their country. Do you know that if you go to Mexico to live that you HAVE to learn their language? The same should hold true for the Mexicans who come to America.

McCain's Character vs Obama's? Question: Who do you think has better ethics? Who has the better character?
Before you answer consider the following:
McCain was far deeper in bed with Charles Keating than Obama was with Tony Resko. Keating gave far more to McCain's campaign than Resko gave to Obama's. In fact, Keating was one of McCains' top fundraisers. Keating paid for many McCain vacations and flights to his resort homes, which McCain never disclosed (by law he must as a congressman) until years later during the Keating 5 fiasco. Cindy McCain and her dad invested $400,000 in a Keating strip mall. But here's the big difference, Obama dropped Resko like a wet cigar when Resko's started stinking. McCain on the otherhand, stepped in and tried to prevent a Senate hearing into Keating's fowl deeds. Keatings stench was all over McCain during those hearings. How McCain stayed out of jail is amazing.
OK, I know I know the Keating stuff was 20 years ago. Fair enough, but has McCain changed? Well now, McCain has a whole army of Keatings working for him, more lobbyists than any other presidential candidate in history. He On March 7, 2007, McCain named ex-Texas Representative Tom Loeffler, who has one of the most lucrative and influential practices in the nation's capital, as his campaign co-chair. In the same month, McCain named former Washington Sen. Slade Gorton, now a heavyweight lobbyist, as his honorary chairman for Washington state. Loeffler's client list includes PhRMA, the drug industry association; Southwest Airlines; Toyota; and Martin Marietta. Gorton represents, among others, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., Weyerhaeuser and Fidelity National Financial. In addition, David Crane, now the campaign's senior policy advisor, was a senior executive at The Washington Group, a firm with 2006 billings of $10.4 million and 52 clients, including Delta Airlines, the Association of American Railroads, and the governments of Panama and Bangladesh. And Charlie Black, who is now a campaign spokesman appearing on McCain's behalf on radio, television, and as a "spin-doctor" after debates, is chairman of BKSH & Associates, with lobbying billings of $7.6 million in 2006, representing J.P. Morgan, Occidental and General Motors.
All told, there are 11 current or former lobbyists working for or advising McCain, at least double the number in any other campaign. Among the current and former lobbyists working for McCain are: Campaign CEO Rick Davis, a partner at Davis Manafort, where his clients have included SBC Communications and Verizon; and former Davis Manafort associate, National eCampaign Director Christian Ferry. At the end of 2006, Mike Dennehy, who founded The Dennehy Group, a New Hampshire lobbying firm, was appointed McCain's national political director. He gave up that post in May to become a senior campaign advisor.
McCain's new buddies make Keating look like an amateur. They are far more intelligent than Keating ever was. In otherwords, they are good at hiding the stench of their crookedness.
Answer:
obama is honest, intelligent and cares about the poor, will give college students money to go to college, will give everyone free health care and those in need tax breaks and make the rich pay their way instead of raping the working class. obama will take from the rich and give to the poor like robin hood. and thats a good thing.

How long would this road trip take? Question: This is not a joke, and it took me a while to come up with it... serious answers only please...
The route would be Portland ME to Boston to NYC to Philedelphia to Baltimore to Washington DC to Pittsburgh, to Cleveland, to Toledo, to Chicago, to St. Louis, to Kansas City, to Denver, to Aspen, to Santa Fe, to Flagstaff and Sedona AZ, to Las Vegas, down to San Deigo, up to Long Beach and Hollywood areas of Los Angeles, up to Santa Barbara, to San Francisco and Berkeley, up to Portland Oregon, Seattle, and back to Maine going through Washington state, Idaho briefly, southern Montana, down through Wyoming, through South Dakota, and from Sioux Falls to St.Paul, to Green Bay, to Milwaukee, to Chicago again, to Ann Arbor Michigan, to Detroit, entering into Canada from Detroit and to Toronto, Toronto to Montreal, entering back into the USA in Vermont, going through Burlington, back down to Boston, and finally ending in Portland Maine...
I will list the questions in the extended are...
How long would this road trip take? How many miles would would it roughly be? How much would it cost in gas alone? If I went with one or two other people and we could sleep and drive in shifts, and sleep in a motel say twice per week, and just drive the other nights, how much could this trip end up costing, and how long should it end up taking if say we drove 12 hours every day but planned to stop in Washington DC for 2 days, Chicago for 2 days, Denver for 3 days, Aspen for 2 days, Flagstaff for 2 days, Las Vegas for 4 days, San Diego for 3 days, Los Angeles area for 3 days, San Francisco for 5 days, Seattle for 2 days, Milwaukee for 2 nights, Montreal for 3 nights, and Burlington VT for a day or two? It would be a total of about 4 weeks just spent in these cities, all the rest of the time we'd be driving about 16 hours per day in shifts and staying in motels every couple nights... all advice or help is much appreciated
Answer:
I have driven across country from the east coast to the west on a circuitous tour like this, covering the southern states going and all of California and back through St Lake city and up to Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore and some more places and it took us 3 weeks. We drove @ 8500 miles. It sounds like your trip is longer because you will start in Maine. If you plan to visit sights like National Parks and the tourist places in California like Universal and NBC studios, the San Diego Zoo, San Francisco, etc., then you will need to add at least another week or more.
The Portland to DC part is about 2 days, depending upon your stops and driving. The east coast is really crowded on the Interstates and there can be traffic jams. Once you leave the east coast, figure a day to Chicago; then a day to St Louis and Kansas City; a day to Denver. Adding Aspen to the Santa Fe part is going to cost you a day because you'll have to double back or use back roads. Santa Fe to Sedona is a long day;
Your trip back on I-90 will be fast as there's not a lot of traffic up that way and most of the speed limits are 70 to 75. You'll slow down when you get back to Chicago.
On all of my driving trips I always planned on 4 days from east coast to west using mostly I-70 or I-40 and not stopping in parks.
REVISION:
What you should really do is go to Google maps and put in your start point and end point for each day or each leg of the trip that you plan to drive non-stop. Google will give you the directions on the map, which you can print, and also the drive distance and time on the same map. It will also allow you to find hotels and eating places along each stretch. With Google maps you can even change the route just by dragging the highlighted line and it will immediately give you the new distance and time for that revised route.
As for how much it will cost in gasoline, that depends upon what type vehicle and its miles per gallon on the highway, and also how fast you drive.
Some more tips for cross country driving:
Once you get past the Mississippi River the availability of gas stations (particularly all brands) goes way down. You may have to get gas at no-name stations or find that there are not always Shell, or BP , or Exxon stations. You should follow a rule that I learned from my first trip across, always start looking for a place to fill up when you get to half a tank.
Once you pass the Mississippi River the number and frequency of motels also goes down. And if you plan to drive until late in the evening, like 9:00 or 10: Pm you best have a reservation as those places that are available do book up.
You should make sure that your vehicle is in top notch shape before you leave home, good tires and them balanced and properly inflated to get the best mileage. Change your car's oil just before you leave and if you can stop at a Jiffy Lube and change it again when you get to California. Make sure that your car's cooling system is in top shape; even have it changed or checked before you leave. The temperatures in the southern part of the US can get up in the 100's and whenever you go over a mountain pass the temperature of the engine will go up because it works harder to climb mountain passes. This will be particularly true between Denver and Aspen, and between Las Vegas and California.
Take a cooler full of soft drinks and water. Also take the snacks that you like and bread, lunch meat,, bags of salad and dressing, and condiments to make your own lunch and just stop at rest areas and eat. You can even take breakfast cereal, plastic bowls and spoons (also other plastic wear for eating and drinking). As you travel look for a grocery store, or Wal Mart, and buy more groceries. Save yourself a lot of money this way.

Illegal Immigration Forms-- CHECK IT OUT!!? Question: FORMS ARE GOING FAST- SIGN UP TODAY!
Becoming Illegal (Actual letter from an Iowa resident and sent to
his senator)
The Honorable Tom Harkin
731 Hart Senate Office Building
Phone (202) 224 3254
Washington DC, 20510
Dear Senator Harkin,
As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue
Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the
Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process
for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.
My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S.
Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed
by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this
bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the
United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to
pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I
know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process
started before everyone figures it out.
Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay
taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years
of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can
apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result
for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.
Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local
emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped
paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could
save almost $10,000 a year.
Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my
daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school
applications, as well as 'in-state' tuition rates for many colleges
throughout the United States for my son.
Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the
burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car
insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have
college age children driving my car.
If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become
illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I
would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Donald Ruppert

retailers recall Simplicity bassinets ? Question: WASHINGTON - Eleven more retailers have recalled Simplicity bassinets, bringing the total to 17 that have decided to recall the infant beds, which are linked to the deaths of two babies
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday that 11 additional retailers are pulling from their shelves the "close-sleeper/bedside sleeper" bassinets because the products pose a strangulation hazard. Those retailers include AAFES, Amazon.com LLC, Bed Bath and Beyond/BuyBuyBaby, Burlington Coat Factory, Chelsea & Scott LTD (OneStepAhead), CSN Stores, Fingerhut Direct Marketing, Kohl's Department Stores, ShopKo Stores Inc., Sweet Pea Decor, and six stores of USA Baby.
The agency first announced on Aug. 28 that Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Toys "R" Us Inc., Kmart Corp., Big Lots, Target, J.C. Penney have recalled the products. The recall affects nearly 900,000 bassinets.
In recalling the Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible bassinets, the retailers have agreed to provide a refund or store credit to consumers who return the product to the store where they purchased it, CPSC said.
A 6-month-old girl from Shawnee, Kan., was strangled on Aug. 21 when she became trapped between the bassinet's metal bars. In September 2007, a 4-month-old girl from Noel, Mo., became trapped in the bassinet's metal bars and died.
The Simplicity bassinets have metal bars spaced farther apart than federal standards allow. Julie Vallese, a CPSC spokeswoman, said consumers can tell if their Simplicity bassinet is recalled if it has removable fabric that is fastened by Velcro.
SFCA Inc., the company that purchased the assets of Reading, Pa.-based Simplicity Inc. earlier this year, has refused to recall the products. SFCA maintains that it is not responsible for products previously manufactured by Simplicity.
