    Bellevue (pronounced /ˈbɛlvjuː/ "BELL-view") is a rapidly growing city in King County, Washington, U.S., across Lake Washington from Seattle. Long known as a suburb or satellite city of Seattle, it is now categorized as an edge city or a boomburb. In 2003 the Census Bureau estimated the city had a total population of 112,344, making it the fifth largest city in the state and the largest on the Eastside of King County. According to the Washington State Office of Financial Management's April 1, 2008 estimate, the city has a population of 119,200. Downtown Bellevue is undergoing rapid change. It is currently the second largest city center in Washington state with over 35,000 employees and 5,000 residents. Lincoln Square, which opened in 2005, and a recently-completed overhaul of the former Qwest building into a new City Hall appear to be the leading edge of a development boom. Over the next few years, the area will see the construction of several additional high-rises and other projects for office, residential, and retail space.     I'm thinking about moving to Bellevue, Washington in a couple years. I'm currently in WA and 20 years old, but not happy with my location. For those of you who live there or know about the city, how's housing there for either rent or for buying? How safe do you feel it is in most neighborhoods? Are there some good open areas? I was thinking about building an aviary for my birds, and I'm not sure i can do that there. It probably be under 20 square feet.     We are a family of (4) considering relocating to the Bellevue, Kirkland, are of Washington. We love to golf and belong to an affordable golf club in the twin cities. Is there something affordable out in the Seattle area that would offer housing close by, or possibly on the golf course?

    No. If you are looking for "affordable" then, stay in the twin cities. This is the equivalent of asking if you can find a affordable house on Lake of the Isles... Bellevue and Kirkland are the heart of the posh east side Seattle suburbs. Look to pay anywhere from 700K up to be close to a golf course. Microsoft & it's millionaires have driven up prices in the area. You might find affordable and golf course way out in the far northwest suburbs (Monroe, Snohomish) or the southwest suburbs (Black Diamond, Covington) - Then you are stuck with multi hour commutes each way to Seattle. I have looked and there is no way to specify on the local real estate websites 'golf course' so, if you want to pursue it, contact a Realtor at one of the two big agencies below: John L Scott or Windermere Good Luck

    They are just across Lake Washington, about 7 miles tops. Both I-90 and State Highway 520 join the two in about 15 minutes depending upon traffic. A great way of traveling between Bellevue & Seattle is to use Sound Transit express bus #550 which operates direct service every day for only $2.50 and uses priority HOV lanes making the trip quick and convenient.     Take Super Shuttle. Less than $50, with tip, I would guess. No trains. The bus is a pain from the airport. You'd have to go to downtown Seattle, and change buses. Ugh. Scratch that about the bus. There is a bus from the airport to Bellevue! Wow. Who would have thought. Take the ST560 bus from the airport to the Bellevue Transit center. It's $2.50.     It really depends on the time of day. In the early morning rush hour starting in Everett the traffic backs up. It sometimes can take over an hour to get from Everett to Bellevue in the a.m. The mapquest person was right with the directions, however really not helpful with the traffic info. So all the way from Everett to Bellevue on I-5 and then on I-405 is a pain, from 6am until after 9am. After that it's not bad.

    When I first moved there, two years ago, I found a studio (650sf) for 750/month, but its up to 800 now. Look in the Meydenbauer area of bellevue, its still a great area, and all the apartments are older, so they range from about 650 to 1000/month. Roomies always make things cheaper too, check Craigslist.

    You will get most food items from India in Bellevue but maybe not all the brands that you get in India. e.g. If you want Lemon Pickle, you will find 5-6 brands but if you want some specific local brand you may not. You cannot compare costs because you are spending in $$ not rupees so you have to get used to the fact that converting everything to rupees will cause lots of problems for you. Even if you bring food from India, it will last only for so long.     Well Bellevue is a little more expensive then some of the other neighboring cities on the Eastside. It also depends on the year of the rental property and the square footage you are looking for. With 2 kids I am assuming you want at least a 1,000 plus square footage or more. I would try maybe Mill creek or Bothell area. You can still get a little more for your money and it is about a 20 minute drive North of Bellevue on I-405. Now with morning traffic that can obviously vary. You could also try the Factoria area. I have lived in Redmond my whole life and love it here. Redmond is close but still on the expensive end. I hope you enjoy it here!!!

    Yeah, I agree with the above answer. It's all about how you want to dress. Seattle is very urban chic, leggings with miniskirts etc...
