    City Description

Bainbridge Island is an island in Puget Sound, and is an incorporated city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The island's population was 20,300 at the 2000 census. In July 2005, CNN/Money and Money magazine named Bainbridge Island the second-best place to live in the United States. The local newspapers are the Bainbridge Island Review (twice-weekly) and the Kitsap Sun (a daily that also produces the weekly, Bainbridge Islander). A sample of local blogs that typically report on events and happenings on Bainbridge Island include the Bainbridge Bulletin and the Voice of Bainbridge. Its crime rate is also significantly below the national average, ranking as among the lowest in the Seattle metropolitan area. In 1792 George Vancouver spent several days with his ship HMS Discovery anchored off Restoration Point at the southern end of Bainbridge Island while boat parties surveyed other parts of Puget Sound. Vancouver spent a day investigating Rich Passage, Port Orchard, and Sinclair Inlet. He failed to find Agate Passage and so his maps show Bainbridge Island as a peninsula. Vancouver named Restoration Point on May 29, the anniversary of the English Restoration, in honor of King

should i move to bainbridge island in washington?
    Question:
I am thinking about moving to bainbridge island should I. (you wont get best answer if you tell me its up to me) just say yes or no unless you have something to say about the island or why or why not i should move their.

    Answer:
Bainbridge Island is a fairly expensive place to live. I'm not sure why I'm saying this b/c Seattle is also an expensive place to live :) Its very family friendly if you have children. There are a lot of wealthy people that live there and IMO its not as cool as say Vashon, but I'm only saying that b/c I'm a hippie and I love Vashon more. I think a few things to factor into the equation is if you have kids,if you have a job ( do you really want to make the commute into Seattle every morning by ferry?) A lot of people do it b/c they love living there, but its a drain on the pocketbook. There are so many things to think about when moving somewhere esp a place like Bainbridge. Are you already in the WA state area? Do you have friends or family that already live there? I think visiting the area would give you a better perspective as to whether or not you want to live there. Good luck.

I live in Washington on Bainbridge Island. What are the best times of day to fly fish from the shore?

    Answer:
If you are going after the Pink Salmon which have been coming through for the past several weeks, or you want to try for some resident Coho or do catch and release on the Searun Cutthroat, the best time to fish is during an outgoing or incoming tide. When the tide is at slack tide, it is best to kick back and relax and enjoy the scenery. Once the water starts moving again, start fishing again. The Pinks are being caught just 40 to 50 feet from shore. The resident Coho (often just catch and release since most of the time the season is closed for them) can be caught anywhere within the range of 10 feet from shore to 100 feet. The Searun Cutthroats (remember, they are catch and release only) are best caught right against the shore. Fish the shallow water first, casting to the right and left, then work the fly out to some slightly deeper water. Look for structure under the water, that is where they like to lay in wait for an ambush on their food. There is a new fly shop in Poulsbo. You may want to check with them for additional information as to which areas on Bainbridge are producing. Larry Peninsula Outfitters 19470 7th Ave. NE., Suite E. So, there's a flood in washington... what part in washington is there a flood? no where near seattle or bainbridge island, right?

    Answer:
No, there's no flooding near Seattle or Bainbridge... I haven't heard of any flooding around here, although it has been a wet month. There is all kinds of flooding all over the country, though, like Texas had bad flooding, I believe Ohio is in the middle of it currently...
