Virginia Beach? Question: Thinking of moving, currently living in West Chester, Pennsylvania I'm looking for a nice place for me and my wife to move, somewhere that's quiet, peaceful, upperclass, good place to raise kids, can anyone give me any info about Virginia Beach?I heard it was nice, or any suggestions on any particular city that you think meet's these qualifications?
Answer:
Chesapeake, Virginia, is quieter and is still rural enough to give one a sense of space.
The school system is really good!
Churches, shopping, medical, sports, Scouts and very friendly people.
We lived in Great Bridge/Mount Pleasant area of Chesapeake, within 5 miles of North Carolina, for almost 12 years; husband was stationed in Norfolk.
It was really nice to be able to stop at the road-side stands and buy farm fresh vegetables, from the farmers who actually grew them.
Chesapeaske doesn't have any beaches, but is close enough to Virginia Beach and the beaches in North Carolina, for a day-trip.
But, it does have the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal, part of the Intercoastal Waterway, and a nice, family friendly park, in Great Bridge, where you can watch the boats move in and out of the locks (similar to the Panama Canal, only a lot smaller).
Norfolk has the Harrison Opera House, Douglas MacArtur Memorial and a beautiful waterfront down-town, with shopping and dining.
Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens are great places for a day-trip.
Go for a long week-end and have a realtor show you around.
I think your whole family will like it!!

We're living together in NY renting out a decent apartment. His friend, who is a Sergeant in the Army, is moving and transfering bases to Virginia. My husband and I were there and we fell in love with the state. It's cleaner, people are nicer, expenses are cheaper, schools are better, overall it's a better place. We eventually plan on having kids and we're looking out for our kids' best interest. His friend just bought an apartment in Chester, VA. It seems like a nice place but I know there has to better places. Can anyone suggest a site where I can read more. We're looking for a city with a low crime rate, happy people, good school, and cheap livings (rent, insurance, expenses). Any suggestions or ideas??
