Questions Possibly Related to Brattleboro, VermontProvided By Y! Answers
BRATTLEBORO VERMONT (see below) What do you think? Question: "Shall the Selectboard instruct the Town Attorney to draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution, and publish said indictments for consideration by other authorities and shall it be the law of the Town of Brattleboro that the Brattleboro Police, pursuant to the above-mentioned indictments, arrest and detain George Bush and Richard Cheney in Brattleboro if they are not duly impeached, and prosecute or extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them?"
Answer:
It sounds like someone on the Brattleboro council is attempting to gain some notoriety, and is doing their darnedest to get it.
Whether I agree, or disagree with the resolution, it is extremely unlikely to happen, and will only bring scorn, and ridicule on the town, its council, and citizens.

Traveling from Brattleboro, Vermont to Bennington? Question: Hello to all,
I will be traveling in a few weeks and had a question before making any further plans. Needless to say, I have looked everywhere for the answer to no avail.
Does anyone happen to know how one can go about getting from Brattleboro, VT to Bennington? I've searched Amtrak, both Greyhound and Peter Pan buses and most major airlines and none of them travel to the latter. I did some research and found out that the two towns are apparently a one and a half hour drive from each other. I initially planned to take a cab but realized what an expensive cab ride it would be! =)
I also know that this may vary between states, towns and cities, but if anyone has any further advice for future plans getting between towns, where mass transportation does not go, they would also be greatly appreciated!
Answer:
First, the drive is a little over an hour - forty miles.
Amtrak and the state run bus service do not have branches in Bennington. I would contact the VT public transportation agency and ask them if there are any regular car poolers between the two that would take on a one-time rider.

Is Brattleboro Vermont still in the Hippy 60's? Question: I skeeved when I drove through there!
Answer:
Pretty much, but it used to be a good place to hide out. Lately it's gotten a lot of press. First was the "Town Nudity" laws and now it's in this month's National Geographic Adventure. That only means it will attract more hippy-wanna-be's. The real hippies moved out of Brattleboro years ago.

Cost of living in Brattleboro, Vermont ? Question: A friend of mine was awarded a scholarship to come and study here in the USA. Since it was a full scholarship, this includes rent expenses but she recently was told she will be given $ 2000 for every 3 months during her stay.
She will be attending to School of International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont and now she wants to know whether that amount of money will be enough to at least cover rent and utilities expenses.
I realize that she could share the apartment to split the expenses but since she does not know anybody, it will be difficult to find someone right away.
At this point it will be very helpful to know about the cost of living in order to make good decisions.
Please help...
How much is rent, gas (heat) price during winter, transportation ( public)
and also if there is something else she should know about
thanks
Answer:
Rent-- 800-1100 for a decent 1 bedroom place.
gas or any kind of heat is VERY high in the winter due to the cold winters. You might be looking at heating bills as high 300-400$ a month even in small apartments. Public transportation is the same as everywhere I would say.

I am looking for my birth daughter born March 27, 1985, in Brattleboro, Vermont? Question: I AM LOOKING FOR MY BIRTH DAUGHTER, BORN ON
MARCH 27, 1985 IN BRATTLEBORO, VERMONT. HER NAME AT BIRTH WAS, BABY GIRL BEHAN. I WAS TOLD THAT SHE MIGHT HAVE BEEN ADOPTED BY A FAMILY IN MASSACHUSETTS. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.
Answer:
Try doing some reserach on peoplefinders.com
It seems that you do not have a lot of information to go on so the investigator assisted search may be the best option.
If money is an issue, you can write them your story and they pick people to do free searches for. Monthly, I think.
Best of luck to you!

Anyone from or live/ed in Brattleboro, Vermont? Question: I'm attending School for International Training in Vermont in a few months and am just trying toget a feel for the town and school. What recreational activities exist? Restaurants? Entertainment? What's your overall feel of the place?
Answer:
Well, as it just so happens, i spent a whole week there August of '06. Hiking & Kayaking are the first two activities that come to mind. The only movie theater (i think) was near the Latchis Hotel. Kitty corner to that is an 'upscale' restaurant overlooking the Connecticut river. There's also fast food franchises & oriental.
My overall impression was of Brattleboro's genuine antique tinge, especially in the architecture. Old hard-wood floors creak in every street lined store & private residence. City planning exists only in the preservation sense of the word. You might marvel at the curb-side fire alarms placed every 50 yards. I did. No doubt earmarked with heavy fines should someone use them as a practical joke. That might be true given the large percentage of young people who call the area home. Which just adds to the hand-me-down feel i took away from Brattleboro.

People in Brattleboro Vermont. or others, doesn't really matter? Question: I am living near there, and....what do you all think about the anti bush/cheney petition? Others: they would be arrested if they came here
Answer:
It sounds like the creators of this petition are trying to make a statement that this administration has commited illegal acts and should be held accountable.
The petition may not be realistic but it helps get the message out there. It may help to create a sense of unity and empowerment among those who oppose the policies of this administration.

I need help how i can go from NYC to brattleboro,Vermont ? Question: i looking for right think for do my trip.... thanks
Answer:
I don't know where you're coming from in NYC, but however you can get to I-95 or the Hutchinson/Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway would be the best bet.
If going I-95, take it (New England Thruway) into Connecticut. You will be driving on I-95 (pending no traffic) for about 45 minutes. You will get out at Exit 47 in New Haven (I-91/Hartford). From there, you will be staying on I-91 throughout the drive, past Connecticut and Massachusetts (NOTE: There is an exit in Holyoke, MA (Exit 15) called Ingleside to which there is a nice mall (Holyoke Mall) with an excellent food court if you want to stop off and eat...just north of Springfield, since I-91 doesn't have food rest stops). Anyway, once you cross into Vermont, the first three exits lead into Brattleboro. Downtown Brattleboro is located off Exit 2 (Route 9). Most of the hotels are located at exit 3 (Route 5).
If going on the Hutchinson River Parkway (no trucks), once you cross Connecticut, it becomes the Merritt Parkway (Route 15). On that same highway, once you go over this long bridge in Stratford, just before the I-95 exit (Exit 53), the highway turns into the Wilbur Cross Parkway. Stay on the highway, going under a tunnel, etc. At Exit 67, Wilbur Cross merges with I-91 in Meriden, CT. Get on I-91 northbound and follow the directions from the preceding paragraph to get you to Brattleboro, VT.

What do you think of the vermont voters? Question: In Vermont, voters in the town of Brattleboro endorsed a measure calling for the indictment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney on charges of violating the Constitution.
The symbolic article seeks to have Bush and Cheney arrested if they visit Brattleboro or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere — if they're not impeached first.
There is no better way to use your power than through your vote. A since of humor certainly helps. Protesting is certainly the American way that's who we are protesters independent thinkers looking for a better way, of life freedom, and fairness for all.
Answer:
That's a pretty liberal thing for conservative Vermonters to do.
I hope they do catch Bush and Cheney. I doubt they would execute them but it would be fun to watch them and their Secret Service details get doused with maple syrup.
- I swear it would be enough to make somebody move to New Hampshire!
