Bennington ,Vermont? Question: Is Bennington, Vermont boring? What kinds of things to do are there? What are some good restaurants, sights...anything you can tell me is helpful!
Answer:
It's a nice little town in an artsy sort of way -- some galleries, etc. in the area. Robert Frost is buried there, and there's a big monument to the Revolution, I believe.
I wouldn't call it a high-energy stop, but it's a pretty area. You can tell why some people love it there.

Where can one buy building stone called "bennington stone" which used to be quarried in Vermont? Question: Its a light gray colored stone used to build fashionable homes around the time of the first world war and for some years after that.
It was called bennington stone because the quarries were around bennington Vermont. The chamber of commerce in bennington vermont said the quarries are closed. Is it quarried anywhere else?
Answer:
Usually a quarry has it's own unique stones along with it's unique colour, grain, and pattern. You are out of luck looking for quarries that has that type, your best bet would be to look for current building demolishing or a second hand building store and obtain that kind of stone and cut it to your wishes. We ran into a similar problem trying to restore a corner of a 1889 building when a car plowed into it. We had to hunt down old buldings slated for demoloshing, after 2 and half years we finally found the correct stone to replace the cracked ones.

is it legal to be naked in bennington vermont? Question: I am fourteen, turning fifteen next month and i would like to go tanning naked, or atleast in a thong and topless in my front yard.
is this legal?
Answer:
The state of Vermont has no law prohibiting public nudity. Some towns have set their own local laws, but for example Brattleboro has voted down the ordinance that would have created a similar law in the town.
http://www.boston.com/news/local/vermont/articles/2006/0 8/23/law_of_nature_prevails_in_vermont/
In the fall of 2004 students at Bennington Collage made headlines when they protested the college's crackdown on campus nudity. There is some movement in some places, like the college and some towns, to enact anti nudity laws or rules but in most cases they don't get very far.
You would have to check the law in your own town. Unless the local town has specifically enacted an ordnance against going nude, or topless, you can.
As far as going topless in a thong, you will probably be within the law even if full public nudity is banned. Again check your town's rules.
Now Vermont has a very live and let live attitude, but you may well get some grief from a snotty Christin but if you have looked up your local law, and know where you stand, just tell them to take a running jump.
An email to your local city clerks office should get you the exact section of the local ordnance to look up, if there is one. Don't settle for a no answer unless they quote the exact section of the ordinance to you. Ask to see the rule.
It is more likely that you will be able to go nude on your own property than in the center of town, but just check the local law to see. If there is not one preventing you then go for it.
There is safety and company in numbers, so you may want to get together with some friends.

Traveling from Brattleboro, Vermont to Bennington? Question: Hello to all,
I will be traveling in a few weeks and had a question before making any further plans. Needless to say, I have looked everywhere for the answer to no avail.
Does anyone happen to know how one can go about getting from Brattleboro, VT to Bennington? I've searched Amtrak, both Greyhound and Peter Pan buses and most major airlines and none of them travel to the latter. I did some research and found out that the two towns are apparently a one and a half hour drive from each other. I initially planned to take a cab but realized what an expensive cab ride it would be! =)
I also know that this may vary between states, towns and cities, but if anyone has any further advice for future plans getting between towns, where mass transportation does not go, they would also be greatly appreciated!
Answer:
First, the drive is a little over an hour - forty miles.
Amtrak and the state run bus service do not have branches in Bennington. I would contact the VT public transportation agency and ask them if there are any regular car poolers between the two that would take on a one-time rider.

how could I see if I was eligible for disability benefits form the state of vermont? Question: I have sezuires and I work in a machine shop in N.Bennington Vermont. when I have a seziure there is no warning and I just fall to the ground. i cut steel and Drill out pieces of other metals. I work on a lathe, milling machine and other machines as well.
Answer:
First of all you would need to apply for benefits and sooner the better. It is best to have a doctor that has a history of this. If Vermont's disability is the same as Wisconsin then you will need documentation of this. Plus get a good lawyer. I waited 3 years for disability and even though it was a pain, it was worth the wait.
You can call your local Disability Office and ask for application or you can go to this site. Then you can click on the disability tab and file on line.

Has Vermont become a safe haven for child molesters? Question: An admitted child molester is walking free in Bennington, Vermont and I’m mad as hell!
Andrew C. James, 37, of Manchester, was sentenced to serve 30 months to five years on Monday but all of the jail time was suspended by Bennington County District Court Judge David Howard. He will attend sex offender treatment instead. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $22.
By law, he could have received up to life in prison, a fine of up to $50,000 or both.
Instead, the prosecutor offered a plea agreement because he was concerned about the 4-year-old victim’s ability to testify.
James has been convicted twice for misdemeanor domestic assault in Vermont. He was sentenced to six to 12 months for both charges, with the jail time suspended. Instead he was placed on probation.
He was later arrested by the Chester Police Department in September 2003 and charged with aggravated domestic assault in the first degree, a felony, for attacking his wife with a screwdriver in front his two children. The charge was reduced to aggravated domestic assault in the second degree, also a felony, in January 2004. He was convicted of the latter charge and sentenced to two-to-four years in prison. All but 30 days of the sentence was suspended.
Now, I understand the logic behind a prosecutor’s unwillingness to go to trial with only the testimony of a 4 year old – I don’t necessarily agree with it that logic, but I do have the capacity to understand -- What I fail to understand is why this man wasn’t thrown into jail the very second he was arrested for molesting this child? As far as I'm concerned, this man is an habitual offender and should have been placed in prison to serve out the balance of his previous sentences the moment he was arrested for sexually molesting a 4 year old boy!
I’ll never understand how the court system and the victims rights' advocates can possibly expect to help end the cycle of abuse when we routinely and publicly diminish the impact of molestation on a child by letting the offender go free. Why in the world would a child seek out a responsible adult and entrust them with their deepest, most painful and shameful secrets, IF THE COURTS ARE JUST GOING TO LET THE PERVERTS WALK?! This child will soon learn, and never forget that his innocence was sold for $22 and a finger wagging (sorry, this sentence can't even be considered a "slap on the wrist").
So my question is this: are you as horrified as I am?
Answer:
First, I live in VT and trust me we are also horrified. To my knowledge the case that brought the attention to all this last summer where Judge Cashman made national news - he admitted that he hated the sentence that he gave, but VT law does not allow molesters to receive treatment while in jail. So turning the guy lose was the best way to make treatment mandatory. Was it right? No. My understanding is that the law was being changed.
Our problem isn't Dean, though he never helped. The problem is that so much focus is being placed on excessive taxes, increased drug crimes, and the likes are taking the focus off of where it should be. We also are out of prison room and send many of our offenders out of state.
We need to stop sending some people to jail for stupid things like getting caught with marijuana. Save that jail space for the others.
As for molesters, I still say a more suitable punishment once caught - castrate them and dose them up on sex drive inhibitors.

My favorite place to stay is in the white mountains, a place called Town & Country Motor Inn.
Do NOT be fooled by the name, it's a beautiful place, very reasonably priced, right at the base of a mountain. There's a restaurant in the hotel that's really good. Here's a link, check it out, you'll be glad you did.

What college should I transfer to? Question: I'm currently a freshman at Boston University. I don't really like it here - it's too big and most of the kids are immature/stupid. I'm looking to transfer to a quiet, more natural atmosphere where people don't really party that much and just enjoy living life. Does anyone have some suggestions for me of schools that fit this criteria? I was thinking maybe Bennington in Vermont. Thank You!
Answer:
I would look at Williams, Holy Cross, Amherst, and Middlebury. All top notch academic schools and quite small.

Do you think anyone would be interested in entering a contest for a free "intuitive reading?"? Question: I am an intuitive reader working out of the bennington vermont area, I also do home readings, readings via the internet, U.S. mail and phone readings. I am a reiki practitioner, dream analysis is also a part of my practise. I wanted some input from yahoo answers patrons as to the possibility of a quick contest for a free reading.........it would be an indepth reading, which usually takes me 2-3 hours to prepare and consists of an intuitive as well as a card reading (combination).... approximately 4-8 paragraphs. Please give me your ideas on this... why or why not people on this sight may or may not be interested. I do not have a website up and running as of yet, you can find a bit of information either on the vermont holistic webpage, or my brochurs
thank you for your input
I am offering my serivices, as I like to give back to the community, and this may be a way to do so..... the other option... is to answer one question from several participants......
what do you think?

I work from a place of compassion and caring....
I thank everyone for their answers.... both positive and not so positive, but let's not get negative....I am offering services..
I am also very aware that some, may not understand the full extent of an intuitive, card reading.....which is totally understandable.... peace to you all
lavendermist intuitive readings, reiki master/teacher practitioner, dream analysis
Answer:
I'd be very interested in entering if you had a contest. I'd really like some guidance and insight into my future. I would encourage that you do it and there's no doubt others that would be more than willing to enter. But if you went with the other option, more people would have the chance to get some insight. Both ideas are good and I'd be very interested if you did either.
