can we drive on the ice yet in alburg vermont for ice fishing?

No, not yet, not even close. I have seen a couple of ATVs and Skidoos out there. The thickest ice is at the pump house in Alburg, and in Dillenback bay. Hubby and I did not feel comfortable taking our ATVs on the ice, so we hiked out on Dillenback (last Saturday) over 1/2 mile, checking thickness as we went. It was very random, some areas over 8", but others at 4". I think the snow that melted then refroze really messed up the ice. The top 2 or 3 inches is the crusty white ice which I don't like. All that hiking we did, and no fish to speak of. The only good fishing I heard of was in Palmers Bay (south Alburg) last week, but the south wind a few days ago broke up all of the ice there. The west shore of Isle La Motte had some ice before Christmas, but the wind broke that up too, and I am still seeing open water. The east shore is fishable, but only dinks that I have heard of. Unfortunately, the frigid temps we have now are not going to last long enough to make good ice. I haven't been out since the snow on Monday and yesterday, so I am not sure what all of that weight has done to the ice. Be careful, and good luck if you do get out there. I would recommend walking only at this time, and only where there are others. If there are any good fishing reports, I will let you know.
