City DescriptionBountiful is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 41,301, a small increase over the 1990 figure of 37,544. The city grew rapidly during the suburb growth of the late 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.
Although a part of the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area, it serves as a bedroom community to Salt Lake City and the surrounding area. The city is a popular bedroom community due to its traditional, family-oriented lifestyle, sprawling suburban homes, and low crime rates. However, due to the very narrow entrance into Salt Lake County, roads between the counties often reach near-gridlock traffic during rush hour. The FrontRunner commuter rail has been running for a while, and the Legacy Parkway project was recently opened on Sept. 13, 2008.
Bountiful was settled on September 27, 1847, by Perrigrine Sessions and his family. It was Utah's second settlement after Salt Lake City. It was known as both Sessions Settlement and North Canyon Ward before being named Bountiful in 1855. This name is appropriate, both because of the city's reputation as a garden place and because "Bountiful" is the name of a city in the Book of Mormon (Alma ... Questions Possibly Related to Bountiful, UtahProvided By Y! Answers
Has anyone ever been to Bountiful Utah? Question: We are going to visit Bountiful Utah in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if there is anything really fun to do? (scenic drives, awesome places to visit, anything really fun) We have already visited the Temple and everything in downtown Salt Lake so I am not looking for people to tell me about Salt Lake, just Bountiful... if you know anything.
Answer:
Bountiful is ok - it is 2 towns north of Salt Lake City - about a 10 minute drive - it is a LOT bigger than jjthinstrips reported - try like 60,000 people. it is nestled right against the mountians and you can take drives up through Farmington canyon that is about another 15 miles north - it is gorgeous up there. there aren't a lot of awesome places to visit in Bountiful because it is pretty much just a suburb of Salt Lake - thats where most of the fun stuff is - there is an amusement park to the north about 15 minutes called Lagoon that is ok - they are open for weekends only now. there are a couple of good restaurants in bountiful - the El Matador for casual mexican food and the Mandarin for gourmet Chinese.

Something fun to do around the Bountiful, Utah area? Question: I haven't been here very long. I want to go do something today but the stuff I know of doesn't really make it possible with my 10 months old. We've been to the water park, the great salt lake, and the zoo. We've also been to park city, and the all the temples. Maybe someone could recommend a really great restaurant. A Mediterranean restaurant would be GREAT, haven't seen one since I got here. Or maybe some other things close by we could do. Thanks
Also make sure it's something that's open on Sunday.
Answer:
A great place to eat is called "A Bountiful Royal India". It is located at 55 N. Main Street and their phone number is 501-0148. Or even better is "Bellissimo Gelato" (535 W. 400 N., West 294-9565).
As far as activities go, the Ringtones will be performing their acapella program of music from the 50s and 60s. It will be on the 12th from 7-9 p.m. 9/12/2008 at the Concert in the Park
400 North Park.

Where is a good place to go skeet shooting and target shooting around Provo or Bountiful, Utah? Question: I could go to public BLM land or go to a shooting range. Thanks!
Answer:
I like the Provo Gun Club's range, they have a pretty good skeet range. Its in the Provo Canyon on the way to the overlook go to the Provo City hall a you can get the key for a small refundable deposit. If you don't mind the drive you can go to Rangemaster's down in Springville. Stop by Van Wagnen's pawn shop in Orem and you can get a free range pass from them for Rangemaster's, they have a lot of interactive targets and were building a shoot house the last time I went.

My friend can’t function without marijuana.? Question: My friend can’t function without marijuana. How can I step in this personal problem? I live near West Bountiful, Utah. What municipal or cooperative or professional group can help me provide help in this situation?
Answer:
Please disregard other comments here that advise you to simply dump your friend. Addiction is almost always a sticky topic to bring up since those who are addicted will begin to avoid contact with those that do not sympathize with their actions. Express your concerns without being confrontational.
You can call the following toll-free number to a national support hotline: 1-800-559-9503, they will help you get ideas for steps you can take to encourage your friend to recognize the problems and possibly change his/her behavior. The call is anonymous, so you have nothing to worry about.
If your friend is willing to join a support group and recognizes that he/she has a problem, there is a narcotics anonymous meetings each weekday at noon at Backstreet All Fellowships Club in 567 W 2600 S, Bountiful, UT.

Have you heard about the movie, "Happy Valley," that is about rampant drug use by Mormons in Utah? Question: HAPPY VALLEY
Produced by: ForeverGreen Pictures
Written by: Ron Williams
Length: 84 minutes
OREM — "Happy Valley," an award-winning documentary, is neither happy nor is the story contained to just Utah County (as some may assume).
This film looks at the growing problem of drug abuse throughout Utah.
William's documentary goes right to the underbelly of Utah's perceived "good life" and focuses on the increasing statistics of prescription and drug abuse in predominately LDS communities, some numbers out-distancing locations like Los Angeles and New York City by a margin of three times as much drug use per capita.
Center to the movie is the Amelia Sorich story. Sorich died June 25, 2005, after receiving a powerful dose of heroin and morphine by her best friend, Macall Petersen. Sorich passed out and never regained consciousness. Not wanting to be caught by police, Petersen and her boyfriend took Sorich's body and buried it in the Bountiful area the next morning.
In heart-wrenching interviews with the Sorich family, Petersen and a handful of others (who are trying to regain a drug-free life) let the viewer see how easy it is to get started, to get drugs and the lifelong struggle it takes to stay clean.
"Happy Valley" is emotionally charged and filled with information that should be seen by anyone who doesn't believe there could be a problem in their neighborhood or home.
The extra kick in this piece is the personal nature of William's story.
Petersen's mother, a recovering addict herself, is also Williams' ex-wife. While kind of keeping it all in the family, Williams tells the stories of these men and women hoping it will move members of the community to fight the drugs and drug pushers in their community and thereby help communities heal.
"Happy Valley" will be released in theaters in March.

job at the age of 14??? Question: Hi I am having problems finding jobs that i can do at my age. I would really like to have a job. I get good grades (3.7 GPA) and am able to do many things. I am looking for a job in Centerville or Bountiful, Utah. If you could suggest any jobs for me to do besides things like babysitting, dog walking, and paper routes that would be great! Thanks!
My mom says I should not work and that im still young. She says I should be doing things that are more fun but I would like to buy some clothes for myself and have some money in order to go to fun places and do fun things with my friends. I hate asking my mom for money. Most the time she is kind of broke in order to be sending me out to do something.
Answer:
Why would you want a 'real' job at 14???
I mean, unless it's something you *really* need to do to help out the family, then stick to (no offense) 'kid jobs' like dog sitting, lawn mowing, etc. Absolutely nothing wrong with any of these to make some extra cash.
No need to jump into the adult workforce now...you'll have at least 60 more years of that...have fun now while you can :-)

Help for depression? Question: I have been suffering from depression for awhile. I have no insurance, and barely enough money to get by. I am not the type of person to committ suicide, but I have been thinking about death alot. I always feel anxious, and I have put on alot of weight which has lowered my self esteem making me feel even worse. I have tried removing myself from my situation and starting a new life, and it just made me feel worse.I try to be optimistic, but it's hard when you can't remember the last time something good went your way. I want to get help, but I can't afford it. Please, if you know somewhere that can help me, I would appreciate it. I hate feeling like this.
I'm in west bountiful, Utah about 10 minutes from salt lake city.
Answer:
It is miserable feeling anxious and depressed. I suffered from depression and while I didn't want to cause other people pain by committing suicide, I didn't know what to do to in order to not feel so horrible and hopeless all of the time. It is so good that you want to get help - trained therapists are knowledgeable and aware of so many ways to resolve problems and provide direction for a happier existence.
Most counties in the U.S. have services available for people who have a need but are without the means to pay. I looked up some information for Salt Lake City and came up with a website for county services:
http://www.slco.org/depts/deptHsVmh.html
They have a sliding scale for fees. There are telephone numbers for information and scheduling appointments as well as a number for after hour crises. I hope you give them a call.
Good luck to you!

Which is the best hospital in Utah to have a baby at? Question: I've been a little frustrated with the Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful (where I live). I went there a couple of months ago because I was threatening to miscarry and I was in the waiting room for 5 1/2 hours in severe pain and scared out of my mind. My father-in-law also just went there right after they though he had a stroke and he also had to wait for over 5 hours to be seen. I'm very nervous about trying to deliver my baby there, and having contractions for 5+ hours before they take me back. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better hospital for childbirth? I'm a high-risk pregnancy with a good chance on having to deliver c-section, so I need somewhere that I can really trust. Thank you!
Answer:
university medical center or lds hospitals in salt lake, both are close to bountiful, my sister in law had all three of her boys c-section at lds hospital, they did a great job, I'm not mormon and I honestly thought you had to be mormon to have a baby at lds, that's the only hospital my obgyn would deliver, both of my kids were born there, and I would reccomend it, my other sister in law( i have 3) had an extremely high risk pregnancy and delivery and she had her little girl at university medical, that was also a c-section and they were wonderful, too. those are your best options, good luck.

Twang brand root beer bottle.? Question: I recently found an old empty bottle of Twang root beer. I am having a real hard time obtaining info on it. Printed on the bottle is, bottled under authority of C.O.&W.D. Sethners Co. Chicago, Ill Bottled by Twang Bottling Co. Bountiful. Salt Lake City Utah. The front of the bottle shows contents 10 ozs. "save caps for premiums." 125 units vitamins A & D added....Any one have more information?
Answer:
You may have found something rare:
TWANG: Another short lived root beer found its place in a can about 1951. The drink called Twang was marketed in a 12 and two different 31 ounce cone tops by Cammarano Brothers located in Tacoma, Washington.
All three of the cone tops have a picture of a boy kicking his leg up in the air. An interesting variation between the 32 ounce cans places a blue football over the foot of the boy on one of the cans.
No other cans with the Twang label have been found, but five generations of bottles dating from 1947 to 1958 have been cataloged.
Maybe your next stop should be to an antiques dealer?
