Beaver Classifieds Local classifieds for Beaver, UT
City DescriptionBeaver is a city in Beaver County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,454 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Beaver County.
Settled by Mormon Pioneers in 1856, Beaver was one of a string of Mormon settlements extending the length of Utah.
Beaver is the birthplace of two well-known, but very different, people: Philo T. Farnsworth and Butch Cassidy. Philo T. Farnsworth was the inventor of several critical electronic devices that made television possible, including the cathode ray tube. Butch Cassidy was a notorious western outlaw.
Beaver also has the distinction of being the first town in Utah to be electrified. A hydroelectric generation plant was constructed on the Beaver River early in the 20th century. The plant continues to provide a large part of Beaver's power requirements today.
Beaver county has a number of identified prehistoric sites, dating to the Archaic and Sevier Fremont periods. A prehistoric obsidian quarry site has been identified in the nearby Mineral Mountains. Southern Paiutes inhabited the region at the time of the first European explorers, the 1776 Dominguez-Escalante Expedition.

Who else thinks the Beavers are going to beat Utah? Question: We just beat #1 in the nation! Pretty much handled them all game! Jacquizz Rodgers is 5'7 but he's a BEAST!! Yeah Utah is #17 or whatever they are now. But the Beavers have showed they can do it. Just watch we'll win this game and then be ranked next week.
Answer:
USC was a fluke. USC thought the beavers would be easy and came unprepared. Utah wont make the same mistake. I say it will be a blowout.

At which Utah ski resort should I buy a season pass? Need some opinions...? Question: Spending my first winter in SLC, Utah, this winter - and I'm looking at all the resorts and trying to choose which one is the best resort for me.
Do you have an opinion or idea about what place you like best? If so, please say why.
In my case, I'm an expert rider - what I need to be totally satisfied is big bowls, some chutes, and lots of powder (no problem with 500 inches per year). Fewer people is helpful (for instance, of the 12+ out-west resorts I've been to, Moonlight Basin (scary chute hike!) and Copper Mtn (best bowls) have
been among my top 3, above Breck, Beaver Creek and Vail...)
I'm a student, so I should get a discount, and Alta is out immediately, since it's a no-snowboard resort.
Whaddya think?
again, I'm not a skier. I was, 12 years ago, but i am not interested in going back to that, not for a resort that I will probably switch away from after a year anyways for a different one... soooo, non-alta recs?
Answer:
everyone on here is out of their mind.... PARK CITY utah is THE best resort i have seen in a while. when i went there again this past season, they have the best ski/snowboard conditions i have ever seen. I've been to Vail and Breck and it seems they are more ski rounded like a lot of resorts.
|
going skiing april 7-11 to utah..? Question: I originally wanted to go to park city. In fact i already booked hotel there but i did some research and other resorts are way less expensive.( Brighton, Snowbird, Beaver mtn and powder mtn) me and my son will be renting equip and taking a lesson. Any suggestions? please
thank you
Answer:
Powder mountain is the way to go its cheap, good beginner runs, powder(of course),and huge mountain!

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.

Do you think Oregon State's victory was a fluke? Question: Don't get me wrong, I couldn't have been happier last night when they took it to those Trojans. But was that a sign of things to come (they play Utah next) or was it simply an unusually good day for the Beavers?
Answer:
It was not a fluke, if you had watched the game last night you would have seen that Oregon St was not running gimmick plays or using some weird formations. Oregon St. won by running the ball up the middle in the first half, please don't get me wrong USC is a way better team and Oregon St. is going to have a bad season after this but it was no fluke.
The major reason for the upset was the 5 foot 6 inchs tall freshman as a running back for Oregon St., it seems funny but he was too low and mobile for the gigantic USC players to hit or even find behind the blockers (when running up the middle of course).
You often see in sports a better team that always struggles against a certain coach or team albeit a style clash or confidence issues.

Beavers in Sweden? Question: Two people have been attacked by Beavers while swimming in a river where 12 or more beavers live. The Beavers are just protecting there domain. Beavers are a very protective and aggressive towards invasion. Now they are going to kill all the Beavers in that area to protect the swimmers. Do you think that is the best thing or do the Beavers have more right to be there than Humans? The river is there natural habitat and we infringe on them, it isnt the other way around, or is it? The last time i checked we humans were still land animals. If you play in the wild sooner or later you will see first hand why they call it wild. I live in a small county and town in southern Utah and do lots of fishing in the high mountains there and yes there are lots of Beavers, that is why they call this county Beaver. I have on dozens of fishing trips fished on some good sized lakes in this county and have seen Beavers swim all the way across the lake to tail slap the water warning me that it was his. reply
Answer:
Where I live (Missouri) the beavers are protected. Trapping is permitted in certain areas and with the proper permits. Although very few people do that.
If the beaver dam is endangering the flow of water required to support other wildlife, waterfowl, fish. ETC Then with the permission of the local warden it (dam) can be removed.
In these instances the impact on people, swimming. Etc is never a reason to kill. Or remove their dam(s).
Usually nuisance beavers are simply caught and relocated.

Typical Pac-10 idiot? Oh me oh my, I don't get respect because I'm on the West Coast...Waaaaaa Waaaaa Question: "I'll be watching ESPN, and they'll be talking about running backs," said Bernard as the Beavers practiced for Thursday night's season opener against Utah. "I don't ever see my name running across the screen. But that's the East Coast for you."
Oregon State Running Back - Yavensen Bernard
Well, when you rush the ball for 19 times for 30 yards against a MAC school...you'll never see your name in lights.
Just shut the hell up and play. You're no Ray Rice, you're no Steve Slaton, you're no Darren McFadden...you're simply a mediocre running back in an average conference which doesn't play defense.
1.8 yards per carry against a tiny school...nice work, "homes".
Answer:
History - The west-coast has just as much media bias as the east coast. How do think USC got that sham title with LSU. LSU was the Champion - period! They won the BCS trophy. Where is USC's trophy?
