City DescriptionBastrop is a city and the county seat of Bastrop County, Texas, United States, located about thirty miles southeast of Austin it is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The population was 5,340 at the 2000 census. By 2005, the city had an estimated population of 7,297, twice the population of the early 1970s.
Spanish soldiers lived temporarily at the current site of Bastrop as early as 1804, when a fort was established where the Old San Antonio Road crossed the Colorado River and named Puesta del Colorado.
Bastrop's namesake, Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop (he was actually a commoner named Philip Hendrik Nering Bogel wanted for embezzlement in his native country of the Netherlands), assisted Moses and Stephen F. Austin in obtaining land grants in Texas, and he served as S.F. Austin's land commissioner.
In 1827, Stephen F. Austin located 100 families in an area adjacent to his earlier Mexican contracts. Austin arranged for Mexican officials to name a new town there after the baron who died the same year

I need to do this for my brother who has practically made alcohol his life. I don't even know if he wants to get treated already. I figured I would first go and find an addiction treatment center for him and then when I have already found one, I'm going to tell him about it.

A lot of people with substance abuse problems fail to admit it to themselves and the people around them. If you have yet to talk to your brother about this, do so at the soonest possible time-- when he's sober. If you can't get him to agree with you, you can probably pool together his closest friends and do an intervention along with other family members.

You should call all the vets/shelters/rescues in the area. I would also make up a flyer with a recent photo if you have one and take it to any local vet or shelter in the area. you should also look outside your area because depending on the dog they can cover alot of ground quickly. Contact shelters and such outside your area and fax/email them a photo of your pets because unfortunately not everyone knows every breed, and they can confuse your dog with something else if you just ask if they have found a breed. Are the dogs microchipped or tatooed? If so contact the company they are registered with and let them know the dogs are lost. You should also try flyers at grocery stores, newspaper ads, and maybe some local radio stations can help you out by doing an announcement. Good luck and I hope you find your pups!

It's a 2000 Polaris Virage Tx model. We have replaced the stator, the cdi, the ignition coil, and the flywheel.But the 2nd and 3rd cylinders are still not firing. I was told the closest dealership is in Bastrop Texas,which is 2 hours north of Corpus Christi where I am now.

Can someone in the Austin Texas area help me with high speed internet?

I'm near Pflugerville and use AT&T DSL, which is done through the phone lines... seems to me like they should work with any phone lines, but apparently it's not available in all geographic areas.
You might just check the yellow pages, there are about 30 internet providers listed there. The one that jumps out at me as a possible solution for your situation is one listed as Wildblue Satellite Internet... their number is 335-7583. Plus it looks like Direct TV also offers 'fast internet anywhere', but they are primarily a TV system and are also associated with Wildblue. I don't know what their deal is, but you might try calling them. toll free 866-914-3474 or 401-6000 in town.

How bad is racism in the Southwest?

My granfather passed away in Texas last week. The funeral was held in the small town my family grew up in. One of the reasons that we did not attend the funeral was because my mother was still scared to stay in a local hotel in town. I think that she was overreacting, but after now living on the Southern side of the Mason Dixon line, I realize that I could be wrong. Was she overreacting? Does anyone live in or near Bastrop County, Texas?
This is not the first time that my mother and I have had this conversation. She talked me out of going to a spa event for cancer patients, because it was in the Austin Area. My mother visited that area about 2 years ago. We buried my grandmother there 7 years ago, however we stayed with relatives. I did not understand how deep racism was until I realized that we were going to the black cemetary.
