thinking about moving to texas or atlanta? Question: hi all,
Im thinking about moving out of ny. I like atlanta a lot but texas seems to have those beautiful houses for less money. My criterias are to find safe neighborhoods, good schools, good buy for my money, including houses. Can u guys help me sift through these two states and determine which one might be better? What do u think would be better all around? And which specific places in atlanta and texas are safer, friendlier to live in? I know that's a handful, but your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Answer:
TEXAS! If you want to be in the city then Dallas or Fort Worth, but there are small towns like Lucas within commuting range so you can have the best of both worlds. McKinney is less than 30 minutes from Dallas & is growing but still real pleasant, Lowry Crossing or Princeton are real short hops from there but offer nice homes not double-wides, on land, for great prices, like 1,900 sq ft on 1 acre for around $155k. If you like the coast, consider Galveston or Corpus Christi. Avoid Houston, it is over-populated due to refugees from Katrina. Cost of living is much lower in TX and there is a huge range of terrain and climate.
One of the best things with Cities in Texas, if you can work a schedule that is a little off the normal hours, traffic isn't bad. Living in the McKinney area gives you country living but short drives to all the amenities of the city. Dallas museums, opera, symphony, landmarks, restaurants, race tracks (dirt track, drag racing, TX Motorspeedway for NASCAR). Hospitals in McKinney, Allen, Plano, Richardson, Dallas: Healthsouth, Presbyterian, Baylor etc.
It is important to understand the difference between driving commutes in NY/TX; if I work late the I can make the 27 mile route home from Dallas, in 35 minutes, w/o breaking the speed limit, as there are only 2 lights & 1 Stop sign. At rush hour I take back roads, 24 miles, yet still make the trip in under an hour, sometimes as quick as 45 minutes.

Helpful Texas sites below, some of the places are a ways from Dallas, like Galveston at 300 miles, but due to open highways that's only 5-6 hours, most folks think nothing of making a run like that for a 3 or 4 day weekend. Email me any questions:

Was this the first time/year that the COT raced at Atlanta and Texas? Question: Didn't they use the old cars at Atlanta and Texas last year?
Then it should take some time to get a handle on car setups there... would you agree?
Answer:
Yup, this is the first season the COT is being raced on all tracks 1.5 miles or larger with the exception of the fall Talladega race and the road courses.
***************
Yes, I agree. That is why teams are all over the place. One week they are great the next they are garbage. Hopefully, by the end of the season all teams will have a handle on it, instead of just the 99!

The deep South from Atlanta to Texas has no MLB. Will the "Big Easy" New Orleans ever get a MLB franchise? Question:
Or possibly Nashville TN?
Pacific Storm: I said" Atlanta to Texas" has no MLB. The teams you mentioned are either east of Atlanta or in Texas.
There is nothing in between these 2 areas in the way of MLB.
Answer:
I doubt very much that MLB would expand into either of the cities you mention simply because they would be considered "small market". New Orleans has still not recovered from hurricane Katrina and Nashville is just not a big league city.
