City DescriptionAngleton is a city in and the county seat of Brazoria County, Texas, United States, within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. Angleton lies at the intersection of State Highway 288, State Highway 35, and the Union Pacific Railroad. The population was 18,130 at the 2000 census.
Angleton was founded in 1890 near the center of Brazoria County and named for the wife of the general manager of the Velasco Terminal Railway. A bitter rivalry emerged between the town and nearby Brazoria for the location of the county seat; Angleton was chosen as the seat in 1896 and re-chosen by county-wide election in 1913. The town was incorporated on November 12, 1912.
As the county seat, Angleton hosts the Brazoria County Fair every October; it is considered Texas's largest county fair.
Angleton is located at 29°9′59″N, 95°25′41″W (29.166478, -95.428122).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.6 square miles (27.4 km²), of which, 10.6 square miles (27.4 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.19%) is water.

Childrens Mental health resources in/near Angleton, Texas?

more specifically, need info/recommendation for young family member suffering from bipolar disorder(yes it was diagnosed and yes child has had therapy, etc), and needs extreme attention...meds give borderline results, and family is at wits end...12 yr old child is abusive and violent (downs), alternating with periods of euphoria (ups)-...need info on agencies that can help, specializing in this type of disorder...please be serious, anyone else will be ignored...

These are good starting points. It can take a while to find the right meds to help the child. My daughter had done pretty well all of them over the years, she is just 11 now. But we got her stable about 2 ½ years ago. Life is so much better. All you can do is keep trying. I strongly recommend the first two organizations, been involved with both of them and their support groups. I know that at least one of them lists Doctors and I am sure both of them list local organizations. Both of them also offer excellent support groups. There are also some decent ones on Yahoo groups, but these are the ones to go to, specially CABF.
Good luck, it is a hard battle. My daughter just had her Risperdol levels go out of wack and the voices told her to kill me, not easy living with an unstable child. At least this one was fast and easy fix.

When I first moved to this area, 13 years ago, I found one through a local church. I contacted the park district and asked if they knew of any.
Also, you may be able to find one though a local mother's club, or a newcomer's club. I met some wonderful families in ours and the kids went though elementary, middle and now high school together. ALl the best to you.

A quick response to this would be to find out if she has any grand children and if she can remember any of their names. You can then search such sites as myspace and facebook to see if they are members to get in contact with them. You can probably contact the chamber of commerce in the Angleton area to see if they have any contact. Angleton is not that large of a city so they should be able to help. At least you can have someone search the local directory for a specific name.
