City DescriptionAlvin is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States, within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan Area. The city sits in Texas's 14th Congressional District, currently represented by Congressman Ron Paul. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 21,413. Alvin's claim to fame is Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, who moved with his family to the city in 1947 as an infant and lived there until he moved to Round Rock in 2003. The Nolan Ryan Museum is in the Nolan Ryan Foundation and Exhibit Center on the campus of Alvin Community College. The museum covers the entire life and sports career of Nolan Ryan, and includes a machine that lets the visitor feel what it is like to catch one of Nolan Ryan's pitches.
Jerry Koosman, one of Ryan's teammates on the New York Mets, once quipped that Alvin was so small, "it didn't have a last name."
The Alvin area was settled in the mid 1800s when bull ranches were established in the area. The Santa Fe Railroad eventually expanded into the area and a settlement was established along the railroad. Alvin was originally named Morgan by the town's residents in honor of the settlement's original resident, Santa Fe employee Alvin ... Read MoreCity Contained By:City Contains:Timezones:Size:

Can someone please tell me how I can find drug rehabs in Alvin, Texas? Question: I have been having problems with my boyfriend because he has been taking drugs. I have already convinced him to undergo drug rehabilitation and for this, I am happy. The thing is, he just hasn't made a move to find drug rehabs, so I guess I'm going to have to do this for him. Can anyone help me?
Answer:
It's good that your boyfriend finally decided to turn over a new leaf. I'm glad for both of you. It really is tough to handle a relationship when your partner is one who is addicted to drugs. Anyway, to find a drug rehab for him, you can check out the links below. These will be able to help you in your search. Just call the number and ask about their treatment programs, rates, etc., before you choose one. Btw, have you talked to your boyfriend's parents about this? They might be able to help. They can take him to a doctor and have him checked up. They can also get recommendations from there as well.

best time to transplant orange trees in texas? Question: we live in alvin and want to know when the best time of year to transplant orange trees is. they are mature trees, about five years old. thankyou.
Answer:
Hi, I've just noticed you haven't got an answer yet. I don't know Texas (living in England), but generally for transplanting trees:
trees that have a dormant period are best transplanted then, that means winter in temperate climes or dry season in tropical/subtropical climate.
With mature trees you need to take care to leave a root ball big enough when transplanting. The most important roots for the trees are the little hair-like roots on the end, those are the ones that pull water and nutrients out the soil.
Your best bet is probably asking a nursery that specializes in big trees, they have machines for it.
If you want to do it yourself, dig around the tree maybe 2 to 3 feet radius from the trunk, so you get a good size undisturbed root ball. Move it straight away to its new location, don't let the roots dry out. Water it until it is established.
You might want to hire a mini digger.
I have moved quite a few mature trees over the years, the more undisturbed roots you leave on it, the better, but some just don't seem to like it.
Good luck.

Where to get Nitrogen put in your tires, near Houston, TX? Question: Hey, I live in Alvin, Texas. About 40 miles SW of Houston. I've been going all over the place, and I can not find a single tire or auto shop that inflates tires with nitrogen. Nor can I find any web site that gives locations for places that do this. If anyone knows where I can get it done close by, please help me out.
Answer:
Costco inflates their tires with nitrogen, at least new tires that you buy from them and have installed by them. You could call them and ask if they'll "do" your tires.
