City DescriptionChurch Hill is a city in Hawkins County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,916 at the 2000 census; many of the city's residents work and shop in nearby Kingsport. The city could be characterized as a "suburb" of Kingsport.
Church Hill is located at 36°31′15″N, 82°43′32″W (36.520845, -82.725472).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.4 square miles (24.3 km²), of which, 8.9 square miles (23.0 km²) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km²) of it (5.23%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,916 people, 2,482 households, and 1,772 families residing in the city. The population density was 665.8 people per square mile (256.9/km²). There were 2,709 housing units at an average density of 304.9/sq mi (117.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.95% White, 1.30% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.41% of the population.
