Questions Possibly Related to Charleston, TennesseeProvided By Y! Answers
Tennessee, Auburn, Chapel Hill, College of Charleston, William and Mary, Vanderbilt or James Madison? Question: Tennessee, Auburn, UNC Chapel Hill, College of Charleston, William and Mary, Vanderbilt or James Madison. Assuming acceptance to all, which would you choose for my sister? (a college-prep-private school senior with a very active social life, high career goals & great study skills) Location and cost are not factors.
Answer:
Several of those aren't even in the same class; and the campus of each is vastly different.
As reputation goes, UNC-CH and William and Mary are considerably ahead of the others (my opinion) and those are two examples of widely different campus life.
She needs to visit each college she's seriously considering and see if she feels comfortable there. She also needs to consider whether each of these teaches the major she's most interested in. CoC for example is a great school with a fantastic reputation in SC - but it's not good if you want to major in Oceanography because that's not a major option.
With this list too, she will need to decide if she wants a more liberal arts foundation or professional foundation. Places like William and Mary, CofC, or JMU are liberal arts based colleges - UT and UNC-CH have serious research facilities available.
Narrow down some on specific criteria. Big city or small town. Big campus or intimate setting. Urban campus or out away from everyone? Closer to which big cities?
Good luck.

S. Carolina, N. Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Virginia.....Vacation Ideas??? Question: My boyfriend and I are going on vaction in a few weeks (mid-December). We are leaving from Jacksonville, FL and making a stop in Charleston, SC. We will eventually end up in Alexandria, VA. We only plan to stay in Charleston for a night and want to find another place or two to stop before we make it to Alexandria. We have about 4 days in between to do whatever we want after we leave Charleston and before we have to be in Alexandria. We are both 24 years old and want to enjoy our days on a limited budget, doing/seeing something that we don't have in Florida (possibly ice skating, skiing, driving through/staying in the mountains, etc...) but possibly somewhere with an evening night life also. We will also have our dog, so we need to stay at pet-friendly places. Please give suggestions!!! Thanks!
Answer:
I must agree with gerrygoll. I did most of his/her suggestions, and I enjoyed a lot. If you are lucky enough, and no much cloud, rains, driving the blue ridge parkway is amazing, and having a luck in Mount Mitchell, the highest point east of Mississippi is very nice, too,

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.

i live in mississippi and am planning to move in a couple of years, question? Question: where should i move, charleston, south carolina, the mountains in tennessee, or somewhere up north. any other good suggestions, i want a semi large town, not too big though, just lots of oppurtunity,
Answer:
Charlseton is a nice place to visit, but Knoxville Tennessee is a great place to live. It is at the foot of the great smokey mountains and less then an hour away from 6 lakes. Some of the lakes are just 30 minutes away. Fishing, boating, swimming are fun at any of them. Knoxville is just a half hour from the mountains, which has Dollywood, pigeon forge, and gatlinburg. All of these are great tourist attractions. If you ride a motorcycle, there are many great roads to ride on including the highway 129 also known as the dragon. Bikers come from all over the country to ride this curvey road. Knoxville is also the home of the Volunteers, which brings all the major college sports to the area. We get just a taste of winter, and the summers aren't too hot. It's just a great place to live. Check it out.

Should I go home for Thanksgiving? Question: O.k here is my dilemma.... I am a diagnosed bipolar so I have a hard time committing to one awnser so I decided to ask you all..... I live in Charleston SC. and I am from Nashville Tennessee.... I have disability- FMLA which will allow me to miss work for two days to go home and be near my mom for thanksgiving but its a 10 hour drive and no one can go with me. My mom is not expecting me so this would be a complete surprise to her and the family...My mom is planning on coming here to see me at Christmas since I am not going to have any more vacation till January...This made my 37 year old older sister jealous so she is getting back at mom by not going to mom's on Thanksgiving. If I go I would drive all day Wed. and return on Sunday...Should I go or just stay here and work.... I dread the drive but I also dread not being near my family and I feel bad that my mom will not have any of her family there.....Any ideas????
Answer:
Your sister is an ass.
Can you find anyone that could possibility go with you?
If I were you I would pack my bag and wait to decide about going until Wednesday...if you feel up to it then go, if not then don't go. As long as your mother doesn't know you're coming then there will be no problem if you decide to not go.

Freeman jovial after car crash: bystanders converged on the scene trying to get a glimpse but, 'no freebies'?? Question: ITN - 52 minutes ago
Morgan Freeman is in "good spirits" in hospital after breaking his arm and elbow in a car crash, according to his spokeswoman
The Oscar-winning actor was airlifted to the Regional Medical Centre in Memphis, Tennessee, where his condition was described as "serious" following the late-night crash on a highway in rural Mississippi.
His publicist, Donna Lee, said: "Morgan has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage, but is in good spirits"
Highway Patrol spokesman Sergeant Ben Williams said Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima which belonged to a woman called Demaris Meyer, of Memphis, when the car left a rural highway and overturned several times.
Mr Williams said: "There's no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved."
He added that both Freeman and Ms Meyer were wearing seatbelts.
There was still no information on Ms Meyer's condition, he said.
The crash happened north of the small town of Ruleville in rural Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta.
Freeman was airlifted from the accident scene to the hospital, around 90 miles away in Memphis, Tennessee, where he is being treated.
The editor of a local newspaper, Clay McFerrin, said he arrived at the crash scene and witnessed Freeman's car going airborne before landing in the ditch.
He said: "They had to use the jaws of life (hydraulic cutters) to extract him from the vehicle.
"He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."
Mr McFerrin said bystanders converged on the scene trying to get a glimpse of the actor.
He added that when one person tried to take a photo with a mobile phone camera, Freeman said: "No freebies, no freebies."
Freeman, who won an Oscar in 2005 for his role in Million Dollar Baby, lives near Charleston with his wife, Myrna, on a 126-acre ranch with a main house, peach trees and horse stables.
Does anyone see a vivid mental picture of that surreal, movie-like scene, so near where "Billy Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahachie Bridge" in the classic C&W song saga ??
Does the fact that, Morgan has played God, vividly bring home the virtual illusions of C21 cinema blurring truth & reality in folks' minds ?
Is the "I Am The Walrus" Beatles song going round your head too?
Love to Morgan: glad U R OK , dude
& thanks for many fond film memories
What do YOU wanna say right now?
Answer:
Thank you for the update. The man is a remarkable actor, people on a whole disgust me sometimes, especially rubber-necking at accidents, seems there is nothing sacred any more..Good thoughts and prayers go out to him...thanks again

What places in the U.S. offer higher wages and lower cost of living? Question: I live in the Tampa Bay, FL..I like it here because of the weather. But its getting expensive and the wages arent climbing. Plus, its very transient here. Also, the jobs here are terrible. I graduated from college 3 years ago and I am still working in tourism. I cant find a career in pharmaceutal sales. My dating life isnt good either. I cant seem to meet any high quality stable women in Florida.
I thought of moving back to my hometown of Chicago because I love it there...its family oriented city, many high quality women, great careers, and a working city..but the weather is terrible and the cost of living is high. I would make much better wages...but I couldnt afford a home in Chicago. I dont want to move anywhere out West. Been there done that. I lived in Las Vegas and Arizona. I didnt care for the West.
I looked at parts of the deep south but I dont know. I'm looking at south carolina, tennessee, alabama, georgia, texas, ...maybe wisconsin and indiana. I want specific towns with lots of growth and employment. Maybe sugraland texas? Charleston, SC? Nashville, TN? Alabama? Not kentucky. Not arkansas. Not knoxville. I need to stayt away from high pollutuon. I have asthma.
I just dont know.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I want a place thats low cost, higher wages, green grass, clean air, teeming with available family-oriented women, and a warmer climate. I want a solid career, a family someday, and time is running out. Im almost 40. I need to find a career and meet a nice woman.
Any suggestions on places to find what I am looking for would be helpful.
Answer:
I live in Indiana. The cost of living is very low compared with other places, but you make less too. But it's definitely enough money to get by. I'm 22 and already own a very nice house (not to mention the boat, camper, etc, that my husband insists we need). I feel lucky to be far ahead of the game. I'm sure very few 22 year olds in FL could afford to buy a house down there.
However...... i suppose Indiana wouldn't have the warmer climate you are looking for, you'd freeze in the winter some days! It's very unpredictable though, one day it'll be 10 degrees, the next it'll be 75 degrees.
Good luck with your decision!

Which Southern states do you really like? Can do without? Question: I wanna know what you think, but as for me...
I like:
-TEXAS: Like a "Lone Star" in terms of its hospitality and generosity.
-Oklahoma: Lot like Texas
-Tennessee: Laid-back, mellow
-North Carolina: Much like Tennessee outside of the cities
-South Carolina: Old South charm, Charleston is nice tourist attraction
-Mississippi: Old South charm, sweet people
-Louisiana: Food, culture, that down home feeling
-Alabama: Much like Mississippi
-Georgia: Just as long as you avoid ATL
I can do without:
-Kentucky: Might as well be Ohio. Bad drivers, very unwelcoming to outsiders, snooty women...and I'm from there!
-West Virginia: There's nothing there!
-Virginia: like New York/New Jersey south
-Florida: like New York/New Jersey south-south
-Arkansas: had several bad service industry-related experiences in this state. Plus it elected BJ to four terms as Governor.
This is my opinion based on life experience. Every state has its good and bad points, though!
Answer:
I support the southern states

Answer:
It's too early in the season to know how ANY of these teams is going to do, so I'll just pick ALL HOME TEAMS (by at least 1) this week.
EDIT to Beachbabe: WHICH OSU?? There are THREE of them on this list!! (Oregon State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State) and I dare say, at least one of them is going to lose. (Oklahoma State to Washington State). (WHOOPS! Congrats to Okla. St. for proving me wrong on that one!)

Im 17 years old and i want to move out but my mom says no? Question: my mom moved my whole family from charleston ill to shelbyville tn
after 3 months we moved back to charleston
then a year later she moved us back again
then after 2 years in tn we are back in charleston and i want to stay this time but she keeps threatening to move us back if we dont behave better if our grades aren't great AND today she told me that my father, whose been alcoholic since he was 16, is in a center that lasts 4 months and that if he stays sober we will go back to him (he stayed in tn) and i dont want that!!
she says that moving back was a mistake and every second of everyday she doesn't stop telling us
i dont want to go back to him again hes horrible to me! hes only hurt me once or twice before while he was drunk but mental abuses is abuse none the less i can honestly say he and i are never going to be like a real father and daughter no matter how long he stays sober! in my eyes he cant make it up to me and i dont want to go back to tennessee to him so he can be a sober jerk for two months and then start drinking like he always does
and i just plain dont want to go back to shelbyville i love charleston now i dont hate shelbyville anymore but i dont want to live there!
my moms exact words were
"If your dad finishes the 4 month program we are going back to shelbyville no matter what i need him i cant raise 4 kids by myself and he will take care of us."
i dont want to go and shes not going to let me stay but i will do anything to stay i have plenty of family that would love for me to stay with them but she wont have it.

ps i have a job and i can take care of myself i half raised my sister when my mom was in her down times
and dont think that my mother is an awful person she is a good mom its just the last few years shes all about herself she doesn't listen when we tell her what we want and she thinks i should forgive my father but i cant not now not for a really long time and i cant live with him again i wont allow myself to be put down by him again
what can i do?
i dont think i can be emancipated because my grades aren't great and my reason "i dont want to move" isn't enough
