    Tennessee, Auburn, UNC Chapel Hill, College of Charleston, William and Mary, Vanderbilt or James Madison. Assuming acceptance to all, which would you choose for my sister? (a college-prep-private school senior with a very active social life, high career goals & great study skills) Location and cost are not factors.

    Answer:
    Several of those aren't even in the same class; and the campus of each is vastly different. As reputation goes, UNC-CH and William and Mary are considerably ahead of the others (my opinion) and those are two examples of widely different campus life. She needs to visit each college she's seriously considering and see if she feels comfortable there. She also needs to consider whether each of these teaches the major she's most interested in. CoC for example is a great school with a fantastic reputation in SC - but it's not good if you want to major in Oceanography because that's not a major option. With this list too, she will need to decide if she wants a more liberal arts foundation or professional foundation. Places like William and Mary, CofC, or JMU are liberal arts based colleges - UT and UNC-CH have serious research facilities available. Narrow down some on specific criteria. Big city or small town. Big campus or intimate setting. Urban campus or out away from everyone? Closer to which big cities? Good luck.

    Belmont is pretty easy to get into, as long as your SAT score was decent. The housing at Belmont is interesting. I would def. live on campus until you get used to the city and area. It's a lot of fun, but a lot at once. Nearly everyone in town has got something to display. Make sure you don't lose sight of what you got. The scene is awesome. Cafe Coco and Taste of Tokyo are two places you've gotta go to if you visit the ville. Good luck with your applications!

    Hi Kelly, You don't tell us what grade you are currently in in high school. Have you begun visiting these schools? You should schedule visits to them to acquaint yourself with their culture and requirements. I would suggest that you work on your writing skills. You will need to submit essays upon which you will be judged for admission. I live in the Nashville area and love Belmont, and MTSU. Your choice of college should be based on your chosen field of study, your comfort with the school and it's fit.     I just finished applying to law school and I have to admit I am scared. I have a GPA of roughly 3.69 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill but my LSAT was only around 152 (I've never been a great test taker).     Yes, however I would even consider trimming this list down in half. Remember you (or your parents) will have to play application fees for every school you apply to - plus you'll pay to send SAT/ACT scores to them. Additionally, many schools will have essays that you must complete as part of the application procedure. While you can "recycle" some of your essays, some you will not be able to.
