Questions Possibly Related to Chapel Hill, TennesseeProvided By Y! Answers
Tennessee, Auburn, Chapel Hill, College of Charleston, William and Mary, Vanderbilt or James Madison? Question: Tennessee, Auburn, UNC Chapel Hill, College of Charleston, William and Mary, Vanderbilt or James Madison. Assuming acceptance to all, which would you choose for my sister? (a college-prep-private school senior with a very active social life, high career goals & great study skills) Location and cost are not factors.
Answer:
Several of those aren't even in the same class; and the campus of each is vastly different.
As reputation goes, UNC-CH and William and Mary are considerably ahead of the others (my opinion) and those are two examples of widely different campus life.
She needs to visit each college she's seriously considering and see if she feels comfortable there. She also needs to consider whether each of these teaches the major she's most interested in. CoC for example is a great school with a fantastic reputation in SC - but it's not good if you want to major in Oceanography because that's not a major option.
With this list too, she will need to decide if she wants a more liberal arts foundation or professional foundation. Places like William and Mary, CofC, or JMU are liberal arts based colleges - UT and UNC-CH have serious research facilities available.
Narrow down some on specific criteria. Big city or small town. Big campus or intimate setting. Urban campus or out away from everyone? Closer to which big cities?
Good luck.

University North Carolina Chapel Hill Marine Biology Waiver? Question: I live in Tennessee, and no marine biology programs are offered in the state. I have heard that if no colleges or universities offer what you want to major in, you can get a waiver and go somewhere and get in state tuition. I am wondering if UNC Chapel Hill offers this.
Thanks so much!
Answer:
I didn't know UNC-CH even had marine biology. Are you sure that they do??
UNC-Wilmington does...it's on the coast so it's an obvious match.

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.

My top college choices, can i get in? Question: I have a 3.65 GPA, I've played 3 varsity sports for 4 years, i have taken a couple AP classes, ive done well on standardized tests, ive been captain on my sports teams. i live in NY. Ive taken a variety of courses including many relating to my potential major, business admin or music business.can i get into these schools? or even if u have input or info on these schools that would be great
1.) Belmont University
2.) Furman University
3.) University of Tennessee- Knoxville
4.) Virginia Tech
5.) University Of Connecticut
6.) UNC-Chapel Hill..probably my reach school
7.) Northeastern
Answer:
Belmont is pretty easy to get into, as long as your SAT score was decent.
The housing at Belmont is interesting. I would def. live on campus until you get used to the city and area. It's a lot of fun, but a lot at once.
Nearly everyone in town has got something to display. Make sure you don't lose sight of what you got.
The scene is awesome. Cafe Coco and Taste of Tokyo are two places you've gotta go to if you visit the ville.
Good luck with your applications!

can i get into these schools and are they good? Question: i will be a junior, i live in NY,by the end of hs i expect to have about a 3.6-3.7 GPA, I'll have taken about 6 APs, ive played 3 varsity sports for 4 years and expect to hold captain positions, im also in 1 club,im taking courses that relate to what i hope to major in. i will be taking the SATs soon.
schools in no particular order
1. belmont university
2. clemson university
3. coastal carolina university
4. elon university
5. furman university
6. University of Tennessee- knoxville
7. University of North Carolina-chapel hill
8. North Carolina State University- Raleigh
9. University of North Carolina- Wilmington
10. Middle Tennessee State University
also if anyone has anything to say about any of the schools like if you go there or something id love to know...im aware of sites like collegeboard and princeton review but i wanted to get opinions of actual students and what not
all of the schools i have on this list have programs that iam interested in. im considering either marketing or public relations, maybe both.
Answer:
What is it that you are hoping to major in? The reason I ask this is because many school are very strong in some areas, and coudl be very weak in others. Just selecting a school without considering what you want to study is a really poor way to go abotu choosing a school! Choose a school that has a great reputation in what you want to major in!

Answer:
Hi Kelly,
You don't tell us what grade you are currently in in high school. Have you begun visiting these schools? You should schedule visits to them to acquaint yourself with their culture and requirements.
I would suggest that you work on your writing skills. You will need to submit essays upon which you will be judged for admission. I live in the Nashville area and love Belmont, and MTSU.
Your choice of college should be based on your chosen field of study, your comfort with the school and it's fit. You should be striving to attain the highest gpa and best scores on your SAT's and ACT's.
Best wishes on your college career,
memererita

Your SATs will play a definite role in your admissions, but your GPA is very good. What state you live in matters as well.
belmont- good chance
clemson- good chance

elon u- good chance

Law School? Question: I just finished applying to law school and I have to admit I am scared. I have a GPA of roughly 3.69 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill but my LSAT was only around 152 (I've never been a great test taker). I have a lot of extra curricular activities including breast cancer research and fund raisers for the the same cause (other activities include tutoring elementary age children etc...). I was wondering if I would still be able to get into schools like UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Richmond, USC, University of Tennessee, Mercer etc..

good variety of colleges? Question: these are 11 potential colleges im considering applying too. generally, is this a good variety of easier to get into schools, good schools and reach schools.
Northeastern University
University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill
Drexel University
Belmont University
Old Dominion University
University of Connecticut
University of North Carolina-Wilmington
University of Tennessee-Knoxville
University of Tennessee-Chattanooga
State University of NY- Cortland
State University of NY-Albany
yes i know some of these are much better than others. some are reach and some are safety
Answer:
Yes, however I would even consider trimming this list down in half. Remember you (or your parents) will have to play application fees for every school you apply to - plus you'll pay to send SAT/ACT scores to them. Additionally, many schools will have essays that you must complete as part of the application procedure. While you can "recycle" some of your essays, some you will not be able to.
