    I'm moving there from southern california, and hoping it isnt 10000000 degrees everyday. I've looked at almanacs and stuff, but I want a personal response from someone that lives there. (moving to Franklin) Like if someone lives around Nashville franklin area, or just knows, could you tell me what winter temps have been recently.

    Be happy to.... I'm a SF-born transplant, via Tahoe and Las Vegas. We moved to Hendersonville (north of Nashville rather than south like Frankin) almost 7 years ago and we absolutely love it! All four seasons are distinct but fairly mild compared with many other areas of the US. The summer IS hot and humid, but not nearly as hot and humid as, say, MS,AL, GA, FL, LA or even some of the nothern states like NY or PA. Temps get into the 90's and humidity does get to 80-even 90%, but I promise, you'll adjust! Use the ceiling fans in all your rooms to keep the air circulating and you won't need the air cond. kept so low. The Winter this year has been so mild, we have been breaking records all over the place! Several days at 70 degrees lately. Normal for this time of year is around the 40's-50's during the day, although temps down to the teens at night and in the 30's during the day aren't uncommon during a normal year- BUT that doesn't last more than a very few weeks and it's not consistent. We get up to 4" of snow a year normally, but this year we haven't had any. One year- 5 years ago- we got 8" one day and the whole area shut down for about 2 days! Anyway, all in all, the winters are also on the mild side as winters go! Fall and Spring are fabulous!!!! You're going to love it here! Get out and explore- there is SO much going on ALL the time- lots of it, free! Good luck with your move!

    During the 1980s when I wanted to become a PAID national speaker, I used the following strategy to promote myself: 1. I researched about five "issues of the day," and learning all the facts and statistics, examining the various popular viewpoints and perspectives. I became a master of these issues. You don't have to do five, of course; you can master one, or two. You can also learn more. 2. I adopted thoughtful, useful, and applicable positions on the issues of the day, an example of which was high school competency tests. I summarized by position on this issue this way: "A people--African Americans--cannot afford to defend their "right" to be incompetent. 3. I wrote opinion pieces for newspapers, magazines, newsletters, etc. explaining my position on a given topic. I selected those publications by studying editorial topics these editors were already publishing. This strategy established me as a thoughtful "expert" if you will on a variety of topics, and invitations to speak came in from local, regional and national organizations. I then selected engagements that appeared to be most likely prospects for leading to additional engagements. From about 1986 until 1994 when I decided to stop traveling, this strategy led to more than 500 engagements at an average fee of $1,000. Of course, when I began, I could demand $1000 or more an engagement. In fact, for the first 10, my fee was simply expenses. Try this! It might work!

    I live in West TN, and I would have to say that East TN is nicer when it comes to scenery. In East TN you have beautiful forests, mountains and clear springs Not much to look at here unless you consider the muddy Mississippi pleasing.

Our school, which is about six minutes away from Central, went on lockdown and my friends from Central were sending me text messages saying how they were so scared and telling me goodbye.     I live in knoxville too, and my one of my friends is a Junior, and was in the Lunchroom when it happend(not close, thank God) and she said it was probably one of the scariest moments of her life. I can't believe school is STILL going to be going tomarrow. Thats totally insane, they should let them out for the rest of the week.     I would have the friends drive a little farther and visit the Ozarks. We have 2 big lakes within 40 miles of each other and two great rivers. Also about 30 miles away is Branson Mo., which has Table rock lake and and cabins and condos everywhere plus great shopping for the wives. Cabins are everywhere you look. Or, a little farther south toward Little Rock is Greers Ferry lake and White river. Sorry, I don't know much about the Little Rock area fishing. Give the Ozarks a try, you will like it!

    Call a nationwide car hauling company. If you are using a mover such as Allied movers or North American Van Lines, They usually can set you up with a hauler. Sorry, I no longer run out of Michigan and don't know anyone out that way to haul it for you. I would estimate the Transport cost to be from $800-1,000.00

    I'm looking for a home with a mountain view in Eastern Tennessee.?

    We're finally retiring after 30 years of Naval service and Tennesse seems like a good place to settle, since it doesn't have income tax or tax our military retirement. The cost of living is wonderful and it seems the natural disaster risk is very low (we were stationed in the bay area during the Loma Prieta/World Series earthquake and evacuated from Slidell, LA during hurricane Georges - luckily left two years before Katrina). We drove through the Smokey Mountains when transferring once and I loved the brooks and waterfalls. I was stationed in Memphis and love the friendly folks in Tennessee. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a town with decent schools that I can see mountains in the distance. Being in the central time zone would be a plus, and close to major highways so we could drive to our family that's scattered all over. It seems like a stretch, but cultural diversity, a low crime rate and a tolerant, free-thinking society would be nice, too.

    I live in eastern Tn. I originally grew up here and moved to GA. I missed the mountains and the nice people here that I had to move back. The Tri-cities (Johnson City, Bristol, Kingsport) They are all nice. Kingsport however has a smell due to the paper plant. The best place to live in eastern TN is Erwin or Unicoi County. A lot of retiree's live here. Very quite and nice town. You will be on a first name basis with everyone here. It is a valley. The town is called "Valley Beautiful" You have view of mountains everywhere from your front porch to your back porch. It is a historic town. Small though but very very friendly! There is one high school and one middle school and a few elementary schools to choose from. You can look it up through yahoo on Unicoi County Tennessee search. Youll find lots of interesting facts about this town. If you prefer a much bigger city then Gatlinburg (which is where the smokey mountains are located) would be wonderful place to be.     I think it will be a great game. Tennessee just got beat badly by florida and lost their opener to Cal. Arkansas State came out of nowhere and almost upset a strong Texas team, and just routed SMU. what do you think? And please don't start off by saying Texas sucks. Texas outgained Central Florida 482-320, and had far more time of posession and first downs. 6 texas drives inside the redzone ended in field goal attempts. If texas had punched the ball in on each of those, the score would have been 63-32. Not to mention the rout of TCU in week 2. And dont say that TCU sucks because Air Force is 3-0.Trust Me. Just look at arkansas state's quarterback and what he's done so far. They are a legitimate threat to Tennessee. What do you think?

    ASU is a very explsive team they have a chance to beat anyony anytime they play but i just dont see them going to Rocky Top any pulling off the upset. i think the game will be close untill late in the game and then Tenn. will capitalize on some ASU mistakes, but dont underestimate ASU they can sneek up and bite you.

    Its the most "generic" flag he could find... movie filmed in Oregon, suppossed to be set in Pennsylvania... the set decorator could not find a big enough Pennsylvania flag and the Oregon flag had the Oregon name on it so he used the most generic he could find. By the way... the school agreed to the movie because they passed on the classic The Graduate w/ Dustin Hoffman and didn't want to make a mistake again

    actually i was in the Ohio Valley Program..It isnt in Ohio, it is in Jefferson, In, outside Louisville Ky. It got the name because of it being on the Ohio river.     I need to know any thing possible. In a while when I graduate from high school I'm going to travle the world. I'm going to spend a year roaming to interesting places. I plan to spend lots of time in central america. I've wanted a monkey since age 3 and I want to know what kind I should get do I need a permit to keep it in tennessee and other stuff like that.

    I'm pretty sure it's very difficult to trap a monkey and legally import it into the USA, since some are endangered and all are exotic. I see you having two options: A) Become a primatologist and associate yourself with an organization and import a monkey which you can see everyday at its holding location. B) Scamming or legitimately applying for a helper capuchin monkey. They are very smart and native to South America. Of course, I know what you're wanting. I would love to train a baby gorilla until adulthood, but unless I'm associated with a zoo, that's highly illegal. Like some serious shit would go down if I tried.
