Old Amusement park in either Kentucky or Tennessee, called something like Gold City, Lost Mine? Question: This amusement park was similar to Ghost Town in the sky, in Maggie Valley, NC, and just like Ghost Town, you rode a chairlift to the top of the mountain to the park.
They had a cartoonish mule mascot similar to the one on Hee-Haw, and the theme for the park was gold mining and panning, and you could mine for gold at the bottom of the mountain, to the right of the entrance to the chair lifts.
The problem is, I'm not sure of the name of the park. I'm thinking it was Gold City, and or Lost Mine, but not so sure now.
My family and I went there several times after they opened up in the early 70's and were planning another trip there sometime between 74 or 75 when I was in Junior hight school, but it burned down maybe a month before our planned weekend.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When small and large animals are hit on the roadways most traveled ( especially in the city)? Question: who or what agency removes the carcasses from the roads? We have deer running all over the place in Tennessee and Kentucky. Do the innocent bystanders just pull them to the side of the road? Does the city dispose of and burn them? What?
Answer:
It varies by area.
Deer-sometimes it is illegal to remove them and a wildlife officer must be called. Other areas it is free meat. Some places theyre given to boys homes and such for food, some places destroyed, some give it to the officers.
If you hit one, it is best to call if youre not familiar with the laws.
Domestic (type) animals-usually cleaned up by Road Maintenance crews (same people that pick up road debris and fix barriers and such).
Some places police officers handle normal roads as well.

How would you find a birth parent with these circumstances? Question: My Dad was born in 1949 and was given up for adoption. However the adoption was not legal and there was no paper work. The only think my Dad was ever told is that His mother had many children and that she had to give him up before her husband came home. (assuming he was not the husband's child) As he understands it he was born in Tennessee and his adoptive mother drove up from Jacksonville, FL to TN to get him. The hospital that he was born in burnt down so as we understand it there were no records of his birth. When my Dad started school he was almost taken away because of there being no documentation. They finally went ahead and issued him a birth certificate based off of information that his adopted mother gave them... so it was not his true information. With all this being said.... Is there a way to find out who is mother was and the rest of his siblings???
His adoptive mother passed away many years ago... I was maybe 3 years old and I am now 26. His father has also past but never showed any interest in my dad anyways. He would never speak of anything.
I wanted to thank all of you for you're answers and I am looking into all of them.
Answer:
If his siblings were old enough to understand, there is a possibility that they will/are looking for him.
Here are some sites to look into regarding black market adoptions. Most black market adoptions are considered for profit but his falls under the same category since there are no records.

http:// reunion.adoption.com/adoption-records/black-market-adoption-searc h-resources.html
Since you know what hospital, you must know what town he was born in. Request that the newspaper print an article regarding his situation, request that a photo be published with it to help with identifying him. The other children may have been told that he died during child birth or they may not have been aware.
Good luck in your search.

Is it smokey where you are? Question: Its so smokey in Memphis from the forest fires hundreds of miles away in Georgia and East Tennessee. Burns the throat and lungs.
Answer:
It isn't smoky here. I'm on the other end of the state from you in the mountains which are very beautiful and look smoky blue all the time. I'm sorry for you and the people in your area. It's so hard to breathe and causes such respiratory distress. I'll pray for rain.

My plants keep burning up and they look crispy. Why? Question: I live on a condo and have lanted flowers in pots on my patio. I try to water them everday but forget somtimes. WE are goint thru a drought in Tennessee and what can I do so that my new flower that I just bought and planted wont turn to crispers?
Answer:
Your plants will not survive the heat, or sun, if they are not heat tolerant or drought resistant. Unless you keep your plants hydrated, and give proper sun exposure as to specific plant needs, they will continue to burn up. Be more selective when purchasing plants, and make sure the conditions you provide, are the correct needs for that specific plant. Create some shade during the day, by setting up a type of canopy. Use your imagination, an old umbrella, or rig up some type of cover. If you have a little table, put them under that, or if you have some bigger plants, use them to create shade. There are containers on the market that have water reservoirs already built in, and the plants draw water as needed. Make sure your pots are big enough, and you are using soil that holds in moisture. Again, try to buy plants that are more suitable to your climate. Good Luck and enjoy!

hate crimes are ok if you live in Knoxville, Tennessee? Question: Christian and Newsom had gone on a date at a local restaurant on Saturday, January 6, 2007, but did not return home. During their drive, the couple was "hijacked, bound and blindfolded and taken back to Lemaricus Devall "Slim" Davidson's rented house on Chipman Street."[4] Because the killers ditched Christian's SUV just a few hours after it was stolen, it has been suggested that the primary motives of the perpetrators was their desire to kidnap, torture, rape, and murder, instead of a simple hijacking.[5]
According to Officer Todd Childress, “Newsom's body was wrapped in a 'sheet and/or comforter,' and that the victim had been shot at least three times. He also notes that Newsom's shoes, socks, identification, and iPod were missing. His body had been burned."[6]
Christian's parents found her abandoned Toyota 4-Runner two blocks away from the Chipman Street house on Monday, with the help of her mobile phone provider. An envelope recovered from the vehicle yielded fingerprint evidence that led police to Lemaricus Davidson and 2316 Chipman Street. When police went to the address on Tuesday, January 9, they found the home unoccupied and Christian's body in a trash can in the kitchen. "They did some really nasty things to this lady," said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Rich Knighten of the Western District of Kentucky.[7] She had been dismembered, her body found in five separate trash bags.[8][8]According to the Grand Jury Presentment, Christian was raped vaginally, orally, and anally, and Newsom was raped anally.[2] Vanessa Coleman told police that "she witnessed Christian's mouth being cleaned with a bottle of some type of cleaner," in an attempt to remove DNA evidence.[8]Coleman also said that she had seen "clothes that were stained with blood and smelled of gas being put in the washing machine at the house."[8]Newsom's body was found adjacent to railroad tracks in East Knoxville the next afternoon.[4]
One media report has suggested that prior to their deaths Newsom's penis was severed and one or both of Christian's breasts were cut off. [4] "Claims made over the Internet that the couple were sexually mutilated are absolutely not true," said John Gill, special assistant to District Attorney Randy Nichols. [9] Gary Christian, father of Channon, said that although the victims had been tortured, 75 percent of the internet speculation surrounding the crime is untrue.[10] The police said that the couple were "carjacked, kidnapped, tortured, and murdered."[11]
Police Chief Sterling Owen IV said that there is no indication the crimes were racially motivated, and that the murders and assault "appears to have been a random violent act."[12] The parents of Channon Christian also do not believe the crime was racially motivated. [13] The father of Chris Newsom said he didn't believe the murders started out as race-motivated crimes. "I don't think it started out that way but from all indications we have, it developed into that," Hugh Newsom said.[14]

Security deposit on commercial property tennessee? Question: The landlord on my commercial space owes me my security deposit. Per the contract, he had 10 days to return it. Tommorow is day 10. I received an email from him telling me that he was waiting on payment from a client before he can pay me! Per the law, does he have to hold that security in a seperate account? This is burning me, b/c I was 1 day late 1 time and he charged me the late fee, so I want to be prepared if he is late. If it goes to court can I sue him for all court and attorney fees as well as the deposit? BTW, he has already inspected the property and agreed that I was due all of my deposit.
Answer:
I don't believe TN law requires escrow of security deposits. YOu can try and get back reasonable costs and fees; no guarantee you will for a 3 day miss.

Which college football team will wimp out this year? Question: Last year, Tennessee was rated highly in the pre-season polls and didn't even get into a bowl, they were so lame. Which team (or teams) will be the lame gimps who are rated highly but then crash and burn? If I had to guess, my choices will be Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC and Alabama. These teams will be so wimpy that the cheerleaders would probably play better and harder than the so-called players. All the coaches involved are overrated, the programs are overrated, and the players are overrated. Bring the tissues, there will be a lot of crying come bowl time!
Answer:
First of all..those of you that think USC is gonna fall no NOTHING about College ball. Carroll and crew have brought in the 3RD straight #1 class of freshman and a QB(John David Booty) that can do the job. Also the Pac-10 is SUPER-SOFT. Anywho Notre Dame has the most hurdles Michigan, AT USC, a VERY good Purdue team and some other things that could trip them up. From what my crystal ball sees..The 'canes will have a Mountain of problems again this year..sorry no ACC crown for you and Texas will take the BIGGEST dive, let's face it Vince Young WAS Texas and without him USC would have lifted ANOTHER crystal football. Also for Texas..guess what OKLAHOMA has returned!! and unless there wounded will beat up on the 'horns in the red river shoot-out. Alabama..well in the SEC you never can tell...Auburn,LSU and Georgia(my boys) are all reloading and Ole miss and Miss. St. are trying to put teams together, toss So.Carolina,Tennesse and Florida into that and you have one helluva conference. 'Bama will be good enough to in the SEC West but not Good enough to Beat the Gators for the big prize..but, if Georgia's Defense does what it can Florida may not be in that game..??? We shall see. But either Texas or Miami(Fla.) will be the biggest disappointment..no doubt. USC..will finish Top 5, Love'em or Hate'em they are a power and that's that!!

please please help!! this is for social studies...but it's not homework...!!? Question: ok, i have a test tomorrow in social studies, and my teacher never told us the correct answers to our homework from the weekend... so if i don't know what the correct answers are, then i could be studying the wrong thing...i REALLY need to do well on this test, so your help is GREATLY appriciated, and i will repay you as much as i can!!!! :-D
ok i'm not sure about my answers to these questions:
1. What 3rd political party formed by discontented farmers and workers set an all-time record by winning four states and one million votes?
2. What 1920 action of twenty-four year old Harry Burn of Tennessee changed our country forever?
3. The Electoral College still has many supporters, despite hundreds of attempts to amend its functioning. Why do so many people still support the electoral college as the means of electing the US president, rather than strict popular vote?
((i need more help too, its in another question labeled "social studies test help part 2)) THANKS AGAIN!!
Answer:
1. Populist Party
2. Cast the deciding vote to pass the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.
3. Some arguments I found in favor of the electoral college were:
It contributes to the cohesiveness of the country by requiring a distribution of popular support to be elected president. No one region has an absolute majority of electoral votes.
It enhances the status of minority interests. Electoral college votes are an all or nothing situation. Therefore, the interests of minorities must be taken into account because even a small number of voters could change the outcome in a close race.
It contributes to the political stability of the country by encouraging a two-party system. No third party could hope to obtain a majority of the votes.
It maintains a federal system of government and representation. It does not allow for states rights.

Two dead in Dowelltown wreck
By CHRIS TRAMEL
Two more lives have been claimed on DeKalb County roads over the past week.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Ed Crouch told The Middle Tennessee Times that around 4:10 on Thursday morning a 1989 Mazda 626 driven by 19 year old Richard Hallauer of Dowelltown pulled in front of a 1998 Dodge Intrepid driven by 32 year old Larry E. Hughes of Smithville.
Trooper Crouch says that the Mazda, which was attempting to cross Hwy. 70 at Mill St., was struck in the side by the Dodge and flipped several times before coming to a rest in the “Bat Magic” parking lot.
Hallauer died instantly, and 17 year old Heather N. Burns of Murfreesboro, a front seat passenger in the Mazda, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Liberty and Short Mountain Fire Departments were called to the scene to extinguish the Intrepid which had caught fire after the accident.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies, The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department, DeKalb EMS, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.
Hughes had been pulled from the car and was flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga with serious injuries.
Two other passengers in the rear seat of the Mazda, 16 year old Jeffery Edwards of Smyrna and 18 year old Krystal Ferguson of Murfreesboro, had to be extracted from the vehicle and were transported to Erlanger Medical by Life Flight Helicopter.
THP Reconstructionist Jimmy Jones, was called to the scene to assist in an investigation into the crash.
Traffic was diverted through Dowelltown while the investigation was being conducted.
Officials say that none of the victims were wearing a seat belt during the crash.

Is torture alive and well in the United States of America? Question: Police torture in Campbell County, TN
When Tennessee law enforcement officials showed up at the home of Lester Siler, who they suspected of drug use, they asked Lester's wife and son to leave. They didn't know that Lester's wife had turned on a tape recorder in the kitchen.
When Lester exercised his constitutional right not to sign a consent to search his house, these officers spent the next two hours torturing him. They beat him with bats and guns, held loaded guns to his head, threatened to shoot him, dunked his head in the toilet, burned him with lighters, attached his testicles to a battery charger, threatened to cut off his fingers, and threatened to "go get" his wife and take his child away from him. Then they arrested him for "evading arrest"."

What do you all think about Johnny Cash's house burning down Tuesday? Question: Supposedly the new owner of the late Johnny Cash's three story house in Tennessee, Barry Gibb of the Bee Gee's, was having renovations done on it when it accidentally burned down on Tuesday. They said it was in its final stages of renovation when the house caught fire. A fire official said it probably started when fumes from a wood preservative used in the renovations were ignited by a spark. Barry Gibb had bought the house in early 2006 and had planned to use it as a vacation home during hurricane season from his hometown of Miami. He was honored to have the house and wanted to preserve it to honor the late Johnny Cash and his late wife June Carter Cash. Don't you think that's just so sad? I mean, this was a beautiful house! If you have seen Johnny Cash's music video "Hurt" you would know what it looked like. Its just so sad that this has happened and I can only imagine how bad Barry feels! What do you all think about this?
Answer:
Yes its a real shame. I actually live in Hendersonville and have been by the house many times (by the lake and the road) I even met him a few times. He was a member at my church and would from time to time come and sing (like at Christmas and Easter). It was a very different looking house...mostly made of wood which is why it burned so quickly. We have truly lost a landmark type home!

Why didn't this brutal crime receive national attention? Question: These 2 white people were kidnapped, raped, burned, tortured, and murdered by 5 black people in Knoxville Tennessee.
Where be the Revs Al and Jesse? Are they providing counsel and help to the families of the victims?
Of course not - the victims were white
Why hasn't this received National coverage by the news media like the Duke 'rape' case?
Oh, that's right - the victims were white
Why hasn't the NAACP, ACLU, New York Times etc., called for an >investigation?
Must be cause the victims were white
Why hasn't the FBI been called in to investigate this as a hate crime?
Oh, that's right - the victims were white!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channon_Christian_and_Christophe r_Newsom_murder
Yes, I did get some of this information from snopes.com. However, I did hear it from some friends in Knoxville.
My point was really that there was no national attention to this crime, and my question is why not.
Answer:
i agree. why didn't this go national? it's sad that nearly every white on black crime is considered a racially motivated crime (not to say that they aren't), but a black on white crime is never described as racist. it seems in this equal opportunity, liberal p.c. day and age, only whites are capable of being racist, which is not the case, as i have witnessed an incredible amount of racism from minorities, but it's never acknowledged as such.

My whole life is crap & I can't take any more. Where do U find help when the only resource U have is internet? Question: Ages 5 - 16 my mom did whatever she wanted, left me with people, I changed schools 21 different times (no joke). From ages 16 - 21, I was raped, I drank a lot, I got my GED, had 2 kids, got my tubes tied & burnt, lived wherever I wanted. From ages 21 - 24 I had been beaten, ran into a phone poll (not drinking).
At age 24, I came to stay with my granny til my father in Tennessee could rescue us & help me out. She was in good health then. While waiting 4 him to set things up for me there, granny wrecked her car, broke her collarbone, needed 6 months to heal & I stayed. At end of the 6 mths, I get a call from dad's wife, he had shot himself & they are waiting on me to come pull his plug. I did & came back to granny. Her diabetes, congestive heart failure, arthritis & bronchitis set in. I have cared for her since. She has lost her mind, I have all but lost mine. She gets worse- they put her in a home - my kids & I will have nowhere to live. Have no car as is. Squatters rights? Legal Help?
Answer:
Time to do something for yourself! It sounds like you are ready to take your life and future into your own hands. You should be able to get quite a large grant to go college, and the rest in government loans. If you are ready to help yourself, it can be done. It should be enough to pay for housing in a college area. If you have your GED there are some "open admission" colleges out there and if you have internet you should be able to do some research and find out where they are.
1) get online and fill out a fasfa at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
(do this first because it will take time to get approved. Schools have deadlines and you need to get it approved asap.
2) Find an open enrollment college and apply (for whatever semester will be able to get aid for)
3) Enroll in it
4) Find a place to live with the money on or near campus. Some schools you don't need a car. In some cities, public transportation passes are included with the tuition.
4) go to all classes and don't miss and try as hard as you can to succeed - get help if necessary from programs offered at the college - maybe single mom programs? Find babysitter for kids - some schools have daycare now.
Yes, it takes a little work to get all this going, but if you are ready to help yourself then do it!
