His Generals were all against the attack, but Hood insisted. The battlefield was only 2 miles long and 1 1/2 mile wide. This was one of the few battles fought at night. The battle started about 4 pm and lasted until 9 am the next morning. It was called the Gettysburg of the west and suffered the bloodiest hours of the civil war. The Bell Witch of Tennessee? Question: Has anyone ever toured the Bell Farm in Adams, Tennessee? If so, has anything strange happened there. I know it's a reproduction of the original but you never know... "Kate" may still be there. What about the Bell Witch Cave? I wanna visit those two places one day, but I wanna know if I should expect anything paranormal to happen while I'm there.
For those that don't know what the Bell Witch of Tennessee is: The Bell Witch is the well-known name for the spirit that haunted the Bell family from 1818-1821, and in December 1821, it killed John Bell, the father and head of the family.
Answer:
Well,
I have visited the site. Certainly nothing paranormal happened. It is rather geared to tourist though. There is not a lot of activities in the area.
While interesting, would certainly not make it a vacation destination point. But stop if your passing through the area.

what do you think of the Bell witch of tennessee?? Question: is it proved true?or its just a fake?
any sites do about this?
Answer:
The Bell witch is believed to be true by many paranormal experts. The problem is no one can agree on what caused it. Because the story centers on a thirteen year old girl, many believe it was caused by something called the human agent. They believe the activity was caused by the girl using PK,or psychokinesis (ability to move things with the power of the brain).
Another theory, suggested by a man named Troy Taylor, says that the Bell Witch was caused by something called a portal haunting. A portal haunting can be caused by a non human entity that comes through a portal from another dimension. For me the jury is still out on that one. But in the paranormal field, anything is possible.

The bell wich of Tennessee? Question: Does anyone know about the bell witch?
Answer:
Kate Bates, was supposedly, the witch that haunted Red River, Tennessee. Supposedly, she still haunts the area, around the river.
According to the legend, the first manifestation of the haunting occurred in 1817 when John Bell, Sr. encountered a strange animal in a cornfield on his large farm in Robertson County, on the Red River, near Adams, Tennessee. The animal, described as having had the body of a dog and the head of a rabbit, vanished when Bell shot at it. This incident was quickly followed by a series of strange beating and gnawing noises manifesting around the outside, and eventually inside, the Bell residence. Betsy Bell, the family's younger daughter and the only daughter still living at home (Bell's oldest daughter Esther married Alexander Bennett Porter July 24, 1817 when she was 17), claimed to be assaulted by an invisible force.
An artist's drawing of John Bell's death, originally published in 1894. In the foreground one can see a couple of men feeding the family cat with some of the unidentified liquid which was found near the body of John Bell. The cat died.
John Bell Sr., later in life, suffered frequent facial seizures, often rendering him speechless. While the Bell family blamed John's affliction on the witch, modern analysis of his symptoms indicates that he may have have possibly suffered from Bell's Palsy,[1][2] a paralysis of the facial muscles. (The name "Bell's Palsy" comes from Charles Bell, the anatomist that discovered the condition. Charles Bell is no relation to the Bells of Adams, Tennessee. The name is a coincidence, and Bell's Palsy was not identified until 1821, the year after John Bell's death.)
John Bell, Sr. died on December 20, 1820. A small vial containing an unidentified liquid he had apparently been given or ingested thinking it was medicine was found near the body. When some of the contents were force-fed to the family cat, the animal died immediately; the bottle was then thrown into the fireplace.Story goes, that in Red River, Tennessee, in 1850, a woman lived, named Bell.

Does anyone know of the Bell Family who lived in Red River, Tennessee? Question: I have just seen the film, An American Haunting, it was facinating, i have also looked on the web about what happened to the Bell Family, does anyone really know why the haunting happened??
well there must have been a reason why it happened, maybe one day it will all be revealed?
Answer:
The Bell Witch Haunting is a very well documented haunting case that took place in the 1800's. The story goes that for some reason the witch(sometimes called Kate) hated the head of the family John Bell. She would torture the family with loud noises and even talking and yelling at some points. She pulled the covers off of the children at night and basically tormented that family until John Bell died. The thing that makes this story so believable is that fact that there is so much documented evidence of the story. Not to mention that the whole town knew of the haunting. The witch made herself known to everyone. She would tell secrets of the townspeople and was even known to show up at church and start quoting scripture. She was even reported to have taken credit for killing John Bell and laughed at his funeral. There have been reports that maybe the witch was mad a John Bell because of a dispute over land. The best website for this case is www.bellwitch.org. The man that runs this site, Pat Fitzugh is the leading expert on this case. He is even a distant relative to the family. Check that site out. It will tell you everything you need to know!
