City DescriptionAlgood is a town in Putnam County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,942 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cookeville, Tennessee Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Algood is located at 36°11′51″N, 85°26′54″W (36.197365, -85.448358). The town is situated at the base of Algood Mountain (el. 1,456 feet (444 m)), one of a series of low, wide ridges in the area that present as "stair steps" from the Cumberland Plateau to the Highland Rim. Algood is centered along State Route 42 (Main Street) just east of the road's two junctions with State Route 111.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.9 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,942 people, 1,181 households, and 792 families residing in the town. The population density was 766.9 people per square mile (295.8/km²). There were 1,263 housing units at an average density of 329.2/sq mi (127.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 93.13% White, 4.93% African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.24% from other races, and 1.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.09% of the population.

Question: who has ever heard of one of these towns? who lives there? who has realitives there? do they talk really country? do they have any good stores or reteraunts? what's the hang out spots? what are the schools and who is cool in the 7th [going into 8th] grade? what are the trends? do they have any good basketball teams???? helP!! my family's talkin bout movin to that area.

yes i live verry close to there. but in a diffrent county. my mom teaches school in algood tho. and i go to school there. and so my friends live there. so i know a lot. let me fill you in
1. i have realitives there,yes
2. they dont talk too bad i dont think...but of course i'm from around there so i guess i'm immuned to it or w.e so it doesnt sound weird to me.
3. they dont have like really real good but they have a books-a-million, khols, old navy, goodies, and olive garden, starbucks, all the regular fast food places, chedars, logan's steakhouse, and a lot more i just cant think of lol
4.hang out spots are the highland 12 [movie theater], the Jackson Plaza [which is where most good stores are lol], community ceneter pool [in summer], but thats about it lol. we just go over to other ppls houses for parties and stuff if we wanna hang.
5. schools-
elementry[k-4]-- parkveiw, capshaw, northeast, algood elementry.
middle school[5-6]-- algood middle, prescott
jr. high [7-8]- algood middle, averytrace
highschool- cookeville high.
[note: all the algoods are the same school. it's a K-8 school]

6. trends....hmm...name brand clothes. areopostales,abercrombi, ect..even tho we dont have one here...either that or like khols...or a sporty look. also you'll need a cellphone, ipod, and myspace to fit in lol. uhm...besides that...i cant really think of anything.
7. we have like 7 league bball teams and then school teams which are ok.
and when you move here i'll be yr school buddy!! lol!!hope i helped =)
