    Chamberlain is a city in Brule County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 2,338 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Brule County. Chamberlain is home to the Akta Lakota Museum, which profiles the lives of nomadic Plains Indians. Chamberlain is also the home of the South Dakota Hall of Fame. Chamberlain is located at 43°48′20″N, 99°19′42″W (43.805548, -99.328444). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.5 square miles (16.9 km²), of which, 6.5 square miles (16.8 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.61%) is water. Chamberlain has been assigned the ZIP code range 57325-57326 and the FIPS place code 11220. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,338 people, 942 households, and 550 families residing in the city. The population density was 360.8 people per square mile (139.3/km²). There were 1,044 housing units at an average density of 161.1/sq mi (62.2/km²).
