Central City is located at 44°22′2″N, 103°46′11″W (44.367211, -103.769652).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 149 people, 67 households, and 39 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,033.0 people per square mile (410.9/km²). There were 76 housing units at an average density of 526.9/sq mi (209.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.33% White and 0.67% Asian.
There were 67 households out of which 19.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.3% were non-families. 32.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.80.

Moving to Pierre South Dakota - need resources for special needs child? Question: HI.Our family may be moving to south dakota from Birmingham, Alabama. I have many questions but the most pressing is I need resources for my son 4.5 years old with spcial needs. I want to match what he has here locally there-
1- access to year round swimming- a heated pool - swim lessons 2 x a week
2- hypotherapy - theraputic horse back riding 1 x a week 8 month out of the year or more
any other ideas. I klnow I did not share about my son's special needs specifically his diagnosis but he needs to watch his weight very closely and matain his muscle tone by do things that work the large muscles. -

Also - where is best to live - town like near the YMCA or is living 5-7 miles away from the central hub of the city too far to commute for schools, activities, shopping and socializing?

Contact the Mental Health Mental Retardation department in the county where Pierre is located. If he is not MR, just physically handicapped, try Easter Seals. Any associations that help him now in Birmingham should be able to provide similar agencies in S. Dak.
