Cumberland Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Cumberland, in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 7,738 at the 2000 census. Cumberland Hill is located at 41°58′15″N 71°27′35″W / 41.97083°N 71.45972°W / 41.97083; -71.45972 (41.970798, -71.459718). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.9 km² (3.4 mi²). 8.5 km² (3.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (4.36%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 7,738 people, 3,054 households, and 2,204 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 908.1/km² (2,355.5/mi²). There were 3,109 housing units at an average density of 364.9/km² (946.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.89% White, 0.39% African American, 0.03% Native American, 1.28% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.25% of the population. There were 3,054 households out of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.8% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% were non-families. 23.4% of all
