In the state of Oklahoma, does and F1 student visa allow for part time work like in some other states? Also, how does a Canadian citizen become an Oklahoma resident?
Answer:
As a student you can work on-campus part time without authorization. For off campus you need authroziation from Immigration, check with the international student advisor for detailed information.
As far as becoming an Oklahoma resident you can not. No matter how long you live there you won't become a resident until you become a permanent resident of the United States. You can immigrate to the US thru the same channels as everybody else (lengthy and difficult)
Once you complete your degree (must have at least bachelor's) , you will ,however, be eligible for a TN (under NAFTA) status that will enable you to work and live in the US. Only Canadian and Mexican citizen are eligible for this status.

No I have not. I do know that Canadian, Oklahoma is a town of about 200 people. However, Canadian County in Oklahoma I have been to. Matter of fact, I was born there a few decades ago. Canadian County has a population of around 100,000 and is right next to Oklahoma County which is where Oklahoma City is located. The County Seat is El Reno which is where I'm actually from. Oklahoma has all kinds of scenery, especially in the Southeastern part. Lots of history, good food, and things to do. I miss it very much as I live in Lubbock, Texas. You will love it there.

I lived there when I was a kid and it truly was hell on earth-ironic considering their absurd church culture. And when I say church culture I don't mean they went to church, I mean they went to lengths to prove their going to church was what made them important. I was informed that I was not going to heaven because I talked to catholics and because I has some good personal feelings about my Canadian heritage. I have lived in other places and I have never had experiences like this elsewhere.

I got a ticket driving through Oklahoma on a Sunday afternoon. My red Italian sportscar had a Darwin fish symbol on the back instead of the "proper" Christian fish symbol. I was driving the speed limit, didn't run a light, used my signals. The policeman followed me for about two miles before he pulled me over after tailgating. I asked him what I had done-he said I didn't brake hard enough at the last stop. As he walked away he muttered, "Damn Heathen".

How hard is it to get a work permit?

I am Canadian. I met a gentleman from Oklahoma 4 years ago. We've only been able to travel twice to see each other. I'd like to be able to spend 6 months down there to get to know him better, but I want to work while I'm there. Can a person do that? What's all involved? Is it expensive? I know I would need a sponsor for a work permit, and I have someone who is considering it but wants details.

Canadian landed immigrant and Pakistani Civil divorce?

Hello , my question is a little bit complicated and i will be very thankful if someone can help me with the answer. I am a Canadian landed immigrant ( right now living in Pakistan) i was married in 2003 and was first landed in Canada in march 2004 unfortunately our relationship didn't last longer and my ex sent me to Pakistan in 2005 , things started getting worse and my ex didn't keep any contact with me for nearly 2 yrs . In 2007 i came back to Canada and tried to file a divorce. i contacted legal aid office and was told that to file a divorce i will have to live for one complete year in Canada unfortunately due to some family emergency i had to go back sooner .By that time i found out that my ex was somewhere in Oklahoma, USA . I was so sick and tired of this hide and seek game that i decided to file a divorce in Pakistan , my understanding was that since my marriage took place in Pakistan and i am also a born Pakistani Citizen so my Pakistani Civil Divorce will be accepted every where but now i have found out that if i ever tires to come back to Canada i will have to file another divorce there. I also have a 3and half years old son from this marriage. I am very confused what should i do ? going through another divorce is again a very traumatizing process. As far as my ex is concerned we found out later that he is a fraud , he trap girls from rich families , stay with them for 1-2 yrs and then get rid of them. I am a doctor and i have passed all my US medical license exams now i want to apply for US medical residency match 2009. Now my question is that if i am getting married to someone in USA , will it be a problem or i will still have to go back to Canada and file the Canadian divorce. Most importantly i need to ask if i don't fulfill the Canadian residency obligation( which can occur if i go to USA for residency training ) my immigration status will be canceled
so in that case do i still have to go back and settle my divorce again i Canada. I have tried to contact many legal ad visors in Pakistan and Canada but every one gives a different answer. I will be thankful if someone can answer my question.

Actually it isn't bacon at all.
All it is , is a smoked loin of pork.
So the bacon your use to( belly) is no way related to canadian bacon ( outside of that they are both smoked).
( Actually, it cheaper).
When you cook real bacon you get maybe 6ounces out of a pound because of all the fat melt off.( so it's actually quite expensive in the end).
Canadian bacon has very little shrinkage because it's so lean.
I picked this tid-bit up on how it got it's name.

My question goes out to any homeowners that may have some insight into this. I bought a house last September and opted against using an ESCRO account. So now I need to make sure I pay my property tax at the end of the year and I was hoping you could give me a general idea as to how much this would be so I can save up for it. The house was bought for $113 k and most in the area are up to about $116 k now. The location is Canadian County, Oklahoma. Answers about comparable houses in this county would be highly preferred, but a comparable house in ANY county (of any state) would certainly be helpful to me. Thank you for your help.

Just call the Canadian county assessor and ask them how much your bill will be. THey can probably tell you unless the rate for the next bill hasn't been set yet; and even then they can give you a general idea of what to expect.
