Bravo! Georgio's scores five stars on ever level. If you are new to Toledo or just visiting, Georgio's is a must. While virtually every downtown restaurant has been a victim to downtown's demise, Georgio's remains not only open, but busy as ever ? a tribute to the exceptional menu and the equally stellar preparation. Starters that are a must include the exceptional marinated octopus or the lobster bisque, one of,if not, the best in town. The complimentary pate is a signature item, and for just cause. It's an incredible blend of various livers, served with the most wonderful bread, baked daily on premise. And if you are one of those who can't handle pate, no matter how perfect, try the bread with lots of butter. The cuisine is a combination of classic French and contemporary. Entrees run the gamut form lamb shanks (prepared in the true Greek tradition), beef, chicken, and seafood. That's where Georgio's stands out from all the others ? seafood. It's delivered fresh, daily, and if the chef doesn't approve of its quality and freshness it never makes it to the dining room. Preparation includes sauteed in white wine sauce, served with hollandaise, or perhaps blackened or in a lemon pepper sauce. Not matter how it's done, it is perfection. Dinners are served with a Greek salad, complete with the Greek olives and feta with a light Greek vinegarette dressing. The service is "white glove" sans the actual gloves. You couldn't ask for a more attentive waitstaff. They live to please, and please, they do. The ambiance is wonderfully warm, although the decor is getting a little "tired" just from age. The bar offers a friendly place, in case you have to wait for a table ... or if you just want to have a few cocktails. There are two dining rooms ? the original that dates back to the 1980s and the newer one that is a little more intimate and cozy. Georgio's is a family affair. Chef George (trained in Cyprus) is the brains behind the kitchen, and his brother, Chris, and sister, Athena, are the brains behind the management. They are almost always on site that shows their intent on everything being perfect - every time. Oh yes, they are open for lunch during the week, and you can't go wrong with a luncheon at Georgio's. It's the "in" place downtown for the business crowd.
