Police in Clermont County are investigating a possible attempted abduction. The grandmother of a 9-year-old girl told police that the girl was pulled into the woods by an unknown male; however, the girl was able to break away from the man and run home.

Apple Creek is located at 40°45′2″N 81°50′13″W / 40.75056°N 81.83694°W / 40.75056; -81.83694 (40.750568, -81.836878).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 999 people, 399 households, and 290 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,648.3 people per square mile (632.3/km²). There were 414 housing units at an average density of 683.1/sq mi (262.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.10% White, 0.50% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.10% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.50% of the population.
There were 399 households out of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.1% were married couples living together, 11.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
