Ansonia is located at 40°12′48″N 84°38′17″W / 40.21333°N 84.63806°W / 40.21333; -84.63806 (40.213200, -84.637978).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²), of which, 0.7 square miles (1.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (2.94%) is water. It is approximately 6 miles north of the county seat of Greenville.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,145 people, 451 households, and 331 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,717.0 people per square mile (659.8/km²). There were 479 housing units at an average density of 718.3/sq mi (276.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.13% White, 0.26% Native American, 0.52% from other races, and 0.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.40% of the population.
