Adelphi is located at 39°27′58″N 82°44′45″W / 39.46611°N 82.74583°W / 39.46611; -82.74583 (39.466041, -82.745707).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 371 people, 156 households, and 111 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,343.3 people per square mile (511.6/km²). There were 176 housing units at an average density of 637.3/sq mi (242.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.23% White, 2.96% African American, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.54% of the population.
There were 156 households out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.8% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% were non-families. 26.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.83.
