How's North Dakota?

I might be going to Bismarck, North Dakota for a year or so for school. Is it unbearably cold? Is it interesting to live there? Tell me anything and everything!

I have not lived there but I have lived in madison wisconsin for 3 years now. Being from the east coast and going to the upper midwest the climate changes more rapidely and the winter comes faster and takes longer to leave. I have friends who have been to north dakota and those who have lived there. How cold depends on where you are from. It is definetely frigid in wintertime, with highs sometimes not getting above 10 and maybe 0 degrees F on the coldest days. With wind chills it can be colder. You definetely need warm clothes such as warm insulated boots for temperature and snow, as well as warm jacket, gloves and a hat, buy a scarf and maybe a face covering with the wind. remember, in the coldest of environments you aren't spending copious amounts of time outside.

How do I find a rat breeder in Bismarck/Mandan North Dakota?

Our local pet stores don't know of anyone. If they do they won't give me any information. And our animal shelters are vertually non existant by phone and not open after i get off work. I have two male Rats currently, bought from a pet store. I would like one more if possible, but I would prefer a hobby breeder/rescue for this one. It took over a month, and a pint of blood to socialize my boys.
I'm not kidding, well i exaggerated the pint of blood, But I searched for 3 months for breeders/rescues before giving in to purchasing from a pet store, They were kept in a tiny tank with at least twenty others, males and females were together. This particular pet store also sold various snakes. So I can about imagine the level of human interaction they recieved. When I brought them home they were man eaters, I kid you not. Finally, I have them as harmless as kittens. Even though I enjoyed the challenge, I don't want to have to go though that again.
The 2 animal shelters we have are closed twice a week, then open only a short time the other three days, and closed through the week ends. No one ever answers the phone. Try looking up rat breeders in the phone book. You get a guy with a huge trap knockin on your door.

Trying putting in North Dakota Ratteries in a search engine. You may have to search awhile, but I'm sure you will find something. I sometimes travel out of state to get my rats, but it isn't to big of a deal to me. I know what I'm looking for and I travel to a rattery I trust.

I was born and raised in Bismarck, moved out of state about 6 years ago.There really is not much in Bismarck (or North Dakota for that matter) for jobs. Try looking at http://www.bismarcktribune.com , that is the website for the local paper there. The types of jobs open to you really depend on your experience you have. Sykes is there, they seem to be hiring alot. Sta-mart is always hiring cashiers. Just depends on what you are looking for.

When taking your permit test, is it written or is it taken on a computer?

Do you have to take a driving test with it, too? You can tell me if it was hard and what happened when you took yours. If if makes a difference about written tests or computer tests, I live by Bismarck, North Dakota. Also, do you have to take a eye test too?

i think you have to take a written test (i'm from a different state but i looked up requirements for north dakota online). you don't have to take a driving test with it because technically you shouldn't be driving before you get your permit, so how would you be able to pass the driving test? you should have to take an eye test too.
