Is Cameron in North Carolina a city or a village?

    Answer:
Cameron is classified a town, located in Moore County, North Carolina. The population was 151 at the 2000 census. From the census of 2000, these stats were gathered: Cameron had 151 people, made up of: 66 households and 41 families residing in the town. Even with a population growth in the last 6+ years Cameron would still be classed a town. A community is not strictly classified into village, town, city by just population alone. In most U.S. states, a city is designated by the election of a mayor and city council, while a town is governed by people, select board (or board of trustees), or open town meeting. There are some very large towns (such as Hempstead, New York, with a population of 755,785 in 2004) and some very small cities (such as Shafer, Minnesota, with a population of 343 in 2000). The line between town and city, varies from state to state.

Cameron and Whispering Pines, North Carolina?
    Question:
I've read the Wikipedia articles about Cameron and Whispering Pines in North Carolina. I was wondering how Whispering Pines can be a village when it has 2,090 inhabitants, and how Cameron, which only has a population of 151 people, can be a town then. I thought a town is like a small city or so and is bigger than a village. Can someone tell me if the Wikipedia article tells the truth?

    Answer:
A town has a mayor and stuff like that. A villiage doesn't. For instance, there are huge neighborhoods where I am from with over 2 thousand residents, but it is only a neighborhood, not it's own town.
