The N.C. Department of Transportation has approved construction of the first leg of a Brunswick County link to Interstate 140, also known as the U.S. 17 Bypass of Wilmington, N.C. The $81.7 million contract will construct what is to become I-140 8.1 miles from U.S. 17 between Leland and Bolivia to U.S. 74/76 in northeastern Brunswick County.

City DescriptionBolivia is a town in Brunswick County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 148 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Brunswick County, and is named after the South American nation of the same name.
Bolivia is part of the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Bolivia is located at 34°4′9″N 78°8′52″W / 34.06917°N 78.14778°W / 34.06917; -78.14778 (34.069119, -78.147755).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 148 people, 58 households, and 45 families residing in the town. The population density was 224.7 people per square mile (86.6/km²). There were 77 housing units at an average density of 116.9/sq mi (45.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.62% White, 1.35% African American, 1.35% Native American, and 0.68% from two or more races.
