how far is it from washington north carolina to beaufort south carolina?
Answer:
It is about 375 miles which takes about six hours of driving. To make the trip, you have to get out of Washington heading west on Route 264 toward Greenville and Wilson until you catch Highway 95 shortly after Wilson. You drive on Highway 95 for almost 285 miles heading south, which should take you into South Carolina. Just before you reach the State of Georgia, you should turn east on Exit 33 on Route 17 until you get to Gardens Corner. From there, you go south on Route 21 which should take you all the way to Beaufort.

Answer:
Here is information about under-aged drinking in NC:
http://www.nccrimecontrol.org/Index2.cfm?a=000003,000005
and
http://www.ncabc.com/
and
http://www.ncpud.org/
This website may be more helpful than the others:

You can click on the links for the citations to statutory authority (North Carolina code [possibly in the vehicle code]).
The ticket that he received (assuming he received a ticket) should have a list of the charges and which code sections were violated.

Question about North Carolina ( Beaufort County ) state laws? Question: Unfortunatley my beloved idiot boyfriend got pulled over doing 50 in a 35 the other night on his way home from a party. He was on a road that goes from a highway style down to residental area and he didn't realize he was speeding. Unfortunatley when he got pulled over the cop smelt alochol on his breath, and made him take a breathalizer test. I know since he is under 21 ( hes 19 ) he can't blow anything over 0.00. and he just happened to blow a .3 which I don't understand because he said he had 4 beers in four hours. He was driving because his brother ( whos 21 ) was completely smashed. The cop said his license is most likely going to be revoked. Does anyone know anything else about the penalty or a site I can check. I'm finding nothing. It's his first offence, and hes only lived there for 7months. Any insight is appreicated. Thanks.
Answer:
I'm sure it was .03, he'd be dead if it was .30
In most states underage drinking and driving leads to mandatory revocation. If he has some sort of mitigating circumstances, then he could get a lawyer and see if he can get the charges reduced. But the odds aren't in his favor on this one.

Can you recommend a North Carolina beach? Question: I'm visiting my Marine this weekend at Camp Lejeune, NC. Can anyone recommend a nice beach within an hour or so driving distance for a day trip? I looked at a map and here are some of the names I found: Surf City, Sneads Ferry, Cape Carteret, Emerald Isle, Bogue Sound, Pin Knoll Shores, Atlantic Beach, Beaufort.
We prefer a less populated, quieter beach, we love wildlife and clean, natural areas, and we're definitely not into clubbing. If you're familiar with the vicinity, I'd welcome your suggestions. Thanks!
Answer:
Okracoke Island is accessible by ferry, and it is so secluded. You & your Marine would love the privacy. Shake his hand for me, tell 'em I appreciate his service. :-)

Can anyone help me with the plot of, "A walk to Remember"? Question: I read the book a few months ago, andonly remember the basic plot. I am alittle mized up with the order in which things happened, such as whether or not the Christmas play or Landon telling Jamie he loves her happened first. I can't find any summaries online, only for the movie, which is quite differne.t I need a really good summary. If you cannot help with hthat, could you at least help me to decide where to go from here(this is all I remember):
“A Walk to Remember” follows the lives of two completely different people, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan. The story takes place in Beaufort, North Carolina, in the year of 1953. Beaufort is a small town, where everyone knows everyone and life was simpler. Landon Carter grew up here with his mother. His father is a congressman, and rarely sees his son. Landon is missing a father figure in his life, and this affects him greatly. Landon becomes the popular rebel in school, and is getting into trouble constantly. It’s his senior year, and he decides to take on drama as a “joke” class. The only actually part of the class that involves some work is putting on a famous Christmas play, written by their Reverend. He figures it will be an easy A, since he’s just counting down the days until schools over. He wants to attend North Carolina University after graduation, and is doing everything possible do to so. In drama, he meets Jamie Sullivan, an unpopular, shy girl, who wears old brown sweaters and plaid skirts everyday, and carries her Bible with her everywhere. Jamie is the reverend’s daughter, and believes everything that happens to her is “a part of the Lord’s plan”. She gets good grades, volunteers, helps out at the orphanage, and does everything possible to help everyone. She is the sure candidate for the lead role in the Christmas play, as the Christmas angel.
Landon is working hard to try and get into college. His father decides he needs more extra-curricular activities, so he urges him to run for class president. Landon does, and with the help of some friends, he wins. One of his duties as president is to attend the homecoming dance. He needs to find a date, but has just recently broken up with his girlfriend. He flips through his yearbook, and realizes that the only girl left without a date is Jamie Sullivan. Landon is hesitant, yet decides to ask her. Jamie says yes, as long as Landon “does not fall in love with her”. Landon says that won’t be a problem. At the dance, Jamie helps Landon’s friends out of a lot of trouble, and Landon sees her in a new way. As Landon walks her home, she asks him to be the leading male role in the Christmas play, for nobody else really fit the part. Landon does not want to, yet he is thankful for her help with his friends, so he reluctantly agrees.
The two practice their lines all the time, and Landon begins to like Jamie more and more. He even starts walking her home every night, even though Jamie’s father disapproves. Jamie invites Landon to visit the orphanage with her, and he agrees, even though he isn’t very fond of the idea. There, Landon realizes how happy she can make the children, even though she has nothing to give to them. Landon starts to fall in love with Jamie, and begins hanging out with her at school, despite what everyone thinks.
Answer:
Didn't see the book, but I saw the film which went like this.
When a prank on a fellow high-school student goes wrong, Landon is punished with mandatory participation in various after-school activities, such as tutoring to younger disadvantaged children at their sister school and acting in the drama club's final production, the spring play. At these functions he is forced to interact with Jamie Sullivan, but does not befriend her immediately. When Landon realizes that he needs help learning his lines for the play, he asks Jamie for help. She agrees to help him if he promises not to fall in love with her, to which he responds by saying, "That's not a problem." At school, Landon continues to look down upon Jamie and mock her along with his group of friends.
Eventually, Landon is intrigued by Jamie's positive attitude, forgiving nature, and overwhelming faith. Landon finds himself falling in love with Jamie despite his promise that he wouldn't. The two begin dating, which threatens Landon's reputation and friendships with other students. He defends Jamie on various occasions and decides to end his connections with his previous clique; he even goes so far as to strike a former friend for publicly humiliating her.
Jamie finally tells Landon that she has terminal leukemia and has stopped responding to treatments. As Jamie is hospitalized, Landon fulfills various wishes on Jamie's list, such as building her a telescope so she can see a comet. Through this process, Landon and Jamie learn more about the nature of love. The movie ends with Jamie's death, but only after the couple are married in the same chapel as was Jamie's deceased mother, the event that topped Jamie's wish list. Landon himself becomes a better person through Jamie's memory, achieving the goals that he set out to do, like she did.
Four years later Landon visits Jamie's father. It is obvious that Jamie helped him to focus and become a better person. For example, he reveals he has finished college and been accepted to medical school. He tells Jamie's father that he is sorry he could not complete all of Jamie's wishes as he couldn't show her "the miracle" she wanted to see before dying. Her father then says, "She did. It was you."
I hope it helps.

Thank You!
Dear _______,
I read a Tragic Love Story entitled A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. Landon Carter, a fifty-seven year old man looks back at his past which he will never forget. When he was s17 years old in 1958 in the Town of Beaufort, North Carolina he met Jamie Sullivan in one of his classes. Jamie asked Landon to be the lead role in the play. The play was very important to Jamie and not wanting to hurt her, he agreed to be the lead role. While doing the play Jamie and Landon became closer to one another. Being the President of the high school, finding a date to fulfill his duties was a must. He asked Jamie who accepted his proposal to the dance. Landon slowly realized that he had fallen in love with Jamie. After many dates he finally found out Jamie has Leukemia and is dying. After hearing the words he had been waiting for, “I love you,” (pg 209) he proposes to Jamie. Even though Jamie was dying Landon didn’t mind getting married to her. To this day Landon Carter still wears his ring. The theme of this book is Love and Friendship. The main characters are Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan who were described like they were realistic. The message is Don’t Judge a Book by its cover. Even though there were a few problems with this book, it is still my favorite book.
The theme love and friendship is shown throughout the whole book. This is what the whole book is based on. Landon and Jamie start as friends and become better friends. They get closer and closer when finally he proposes to her and they get married. Love and friendship is found throughout the book in every chapter. One of the quotes that showed this is “All I cared about was doing something that my heart had told me was the right thing to do. In my mind it was the first time God had ever spoken directly to me” (pg 234). Two more quotes are “I love you, Jamie,” I said again. “I love you, too” she finally whispered. (pg 209) and “Will you marry me?” (pg 232).
Sparks did a wonderful job describing the characters by making them come alive and producing their actions to be believable. The main characters are Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan, Landon is a 57 year old man who through flashbacks of when he was 17 narrates the story. Landon was the school president and took Jamie Sullivan to the Homecoming Dance. Landon fell in love with Jamie and proposed to her. Jamie Sullivan the other main character is a seventeen year old daughter of a Baptist minister, has Leukemia and is dying. Jamie fell in love with Landon, too. Jamie accepted his proposal to get married.
I enjoyed reading this book tremendously and could not put it down. There were a few problems with it at the end, though. One of the problems was Sparks didn’t include whether Jamie died from Leukemia or lived and survived Leukemia. If he would’ve included this, more readers wouldn’t complain and argue with others. In the movie it shows that she dies but in the book he left this out.
The message, don’t judge a book by its cover is a very strong message. It means don’t judge someone by their appearance. If you get to know the person, you may love them just like Landon loved Jamie after all. He used to make fun of Jamie but after he got to know her he loved her and married her. When he thought back about all the things he said to her, he felt guilty. When I see people judging someone because of their looks and appearance I nicely say, “Please stop, that’s not true those are rumors and if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all.” This is an important lesson for everyone which makes me recommend this book to everyone, boy or girl.
In conclusion, A Walk to Remember is about love and friendship and teaches people not to judge others by their looks or appearance. It’s about a young boy regretting what he said about Jamie because he falls in love with her and marry’s her even though she is dying of Leukemia. Sparks did an amazing job describing all of the characters and getting the message across to the reader. I enjoyed reading this book and couldn’t put it down. The only part I didn’t like was at the end when Sparks didn’t include whether Jamie survived or died from Leukemia. Overall, this book was astonishing and was a page turner.
Sincerely,

Where Is The Best Place To LIVE In North America? Question: I know everyone has an opinion, so please give me a reason why along with the answer.
It can be Canada or the U.S.
I have always liked the Pacific Northwest (Seattle) and Coastal Carolina/Georgia (Beaufort, Savanna)
The climate is mild in the summer in the Northwest and the landscape is beautiful.
The ocean and the proximity to other areas of the south and the southern charm is why I like the coastal south.
I'm a "lifer" in central Indiana (Indianapolis) and even though I like it here in the summer, I hate winters.
And I'm just looking for a change and a way to start over.
Answer:
I love the beaches and coastal areas and have lived about 40 miles inland, near them all my life. I don't think I could bear the cold. My favorite places are listed below. Totally spellbinding and you hate to leave . The natural beauty I guess. One site is a photographer friend who captures the essence of the beautiful Satilla River nearby. The other, the most wonderful place I enjoy being, Jekyll Island, GA.

Don't you know you get God all riled up angry when you forbid women to breast feed in public? Question: http://goupstate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060406/NEWS/604 060348/1051
Article published Apr 6, 2006
Breast-feeding rights bill clears Senate, ready for Sanford to sign
SEANNA ADCOX, Associated Press
COLUMBIA -- South Carolina mothers can soon breast-feed their babies in public without fear of being ordered into a dark corner or dirty public bathroom.
A bill that allows mothers to breast-feed anywhere they have the right to be and exempts breast-feeding from indecent exposure laws cleared the Senate on Wednesday. The House approved the measure in February.
Gov. Mark Sanford has not committed to signing it. His spokesman Joel Sawyer said the governor sees nothing wrong with the bill so far, but he wants to review it further when it hits his desk.
"We're 10 inches from the goal line. It's been a fairly long battle," said Rep. Chip Limehouse, R-Charleston, the bill's chief sponsor.
Limehouse introduced the bill after an incident last summer at a Victoria's Secret lingerie store in Mount Pleasant. Lori Rueger said a store clerk told her she could not breast-feed her 10-week-old daughter in a dressing room and encouraged her to use a public restroom in another store instead, a setting nursing moms call unsanitary and uncomfortable. The incident prompted protests and made national news.
Limehouse said he first proposed a breast-feeding rights bill in 1997, but it went nowhere. "The subject was almost ticklish. Legislators didn't know how to deal with it," he said.
Almost a decade later, lawmakers were "piling on" to support it, Limestone said.
Thirty-nine states have already passed laws related to breast-feeding. Of those, 32 states, including Georgia and North Carolina, allow mothers to breast-feed in any public or private location.
Kansas became No. 32 last month when Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed legislation. Bills are awaiting governors' signatures in Kentucky and Mississippi.
"What a great day for breast-feeding moms," said Dr. Lewis Gregory, chief medical officer for Select Health of South Carolina. "We support the rights of women to feed their children whenever and wherever they need to be."
To encourage women to breast feed, his company will offer expectant mothers covered by Select Health free breast pumps beginning May 1.
Studies show breast-feeding improves the health of both the baby and mother. They also show that breast-feeding babies reduces their risk of becoming obese later, helps mothers return to a pre-pregnancy weight and improves a child's immunity system and aids their development
South Carolina ranks near the bottom nationwide in percentage of mothers who breast-feed. Lawmakers hope the approved bill will improve the state's numbers.
"This is step one in getting South Carolina where it needs to be," said Rep. Catherine Ceips, R-Beaufort, who also sponsored the bill.
My friend Grateful...God created us in HIS image. We're HIS children. The FATHER has the same emotions as HIS children.
Answer:
If grown men can go to strip clubs to get breast fed then babies have the same right to Mothers milk anytime , anywhere.

Answer:
I would say Florida. If you want warm weather all year round, great beach access,a tropical feel, and a change in pace, then I'd say South Florida and the Miami area.
However, seeing your taste, I'd recommend Central and Southern Florida. Those parts of Florida keep their beach feel, but also have the Southern charm and beautiful landscape that you like.
Overall, Florida I think would be a great place for you. The culture change may be what can please you. Also, Florida has a great number of attractions and other places that may relax and soothe you.
