What's up with the election in New York?? It's getting competitive.? Question: 3 new polls on realclearpolitics shows that OBama's lead in New York, a totally blue state, has come down from 18 to 5 points in one, and 3 in another. THe sampling is also really high. Can someone please explain to me what is going on. How is MCCain leading in Pennsylvania? Hasn't PA gone Democrat for the past god knows how many years. And what about Minnesota? This is too is democratic, although the RNC took place. I'm kind of confused and I need to give a discussion about the presidential race and where it stands right now. Please help me.

Why do people who live in far-red or far-blue states care about voting for Obama/McCain? Question: If you live in a far-red state such as Texas or a far-blue state such as New York, why do you really care about whether to vote for McCain or Obama?
With the electoral college system, your vote doesn't count toward the national total, and your state is pre-decided anyway.
Why not just prop up a third-party candidate (who has no chance of winning, but could use the moral victory of getting a few percentage points) with your vote?
Answer:
Good idea...starring this

Name this bird that I found in New York? Question: - A dark blue coat(almost black but the sun shows that its blue)
- A bit of bright yellow on the side of his/her wings
- A smaller bit of ruby red near the bright yellow(it look likes it continues underneath the wing)
- Makes a loud shrill noise
- In New York
- not a bluejay (I know what they look like)
- not a blue bird
- about the same size as the common raven
- has a pointed(sharp) black beak
- has black marks on his/her wings
- not the Red-winged blackbird(but very similar looking in terms of beak and feathering)
- not a hummingbird
- not a Mountain Blue Bird
- not a Blue Bunting
No, not the Minah Bird.
Yeah, I found it an hour ago. The Red Winged Black bird it is....but...
no, he was not an eastern blue bird but a red winged black bird.
Answer:
The only wild native bird in the US that resembles this IS the Red-winged Blackbird. If it is not one, then this is possibly a non-native that was an escaped pet in which case it might be very hard to ID as it could be from anywhere in the world.

Do the trend in polls showing Obama is in trouble? Question: http://www.siena.edu/level2col.aspx?menu_id=562&id=19322
http: //www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/
For months down all I keep hearing is how important polls were from the Democrats.
Than came well what really matters is the electoral college polls.
Well both are showing a swing to McCain.
To the point New York blue of blue states is starting to show a slide to red.
So is Obama's victory as sure as the Democrats been tell us?
I guess I was expecting too much.
I am talking trends here.
To Cool Breeze I did site real clear poltics.
Answer:
I think Obama is in trouble all polls regardless. He is an unpredictable lire and populist, which reminds me Europe in 1930th, if you know what I mean.

Who went to the New York Comic Con? Question: I did! Yeah, I know I'm late to talk about it, but still. What did you do there and what did you cosplay as (if you did)? I basically did EVERYTHING there. My sister won 2nd place for the 23 contest. I won 2nd place for the SingStar game (just a few points away from 1st! TT_TT). And I won the TCGs of Naruto and Spoils. A whole bunch of other stuff too, but too much to write ^^;. I went as my original character, "WarriorGal," (which basically looks like a blue version of Aeris with a Katana).
Answer:
nope.

Have you read this about new immigrants? Question: Newspapers seldom will publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which does not agree with their philosophy. This woman wrote a letter to the editor that should have been published but with your help it will get published via cyberspace!
New Immigrants
From: "David LaBonte"
My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined.
Dave LaBonte (signed)
Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:
Dear Editor:
So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.
Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are in 2006 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.
(signed) Rosemary LaBonte
P. S. Pass this on to everyone you know!!! KEEP THIS LETTER MOVING!!
I hope this letter gets read by millions of people all across the nation!!
Ever onward!!
MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA
Answer:
One of the obvious flaws with this 'letter' - 'America' didn't liberate France. The whole world knows that the Allies liberated Europe from Hitler - teamwork. Funny Americans don't know that.
Secondly, how were you able to post such a long schpeel? Normally there is a word limit.
Just curious.

Why is winning the primary in one state as important as another? Question: I know this is kinda old as we already have our candidates, but why for example is winning the Democratic Primary in Alabama as important as winning in New York? Alabama is just going to vote republican and the republican candidate will get those electoral college votes so why does it matter which democratic nominee wins Alabama? So a nominee can win the primaries but if it came from mostly winning red states for a democrat or blue states for a republican they might not have the best chance of winning?
Do you see my point?
Answer:
The general election is different from the primaries, but I think I can help you. In the general eletion, it makes no difference what you win by... as long as you win you get every electoral vote. So, for example Obama he is leading right now in electoral votes thanks to two states California and New York both were won by Clinton easy over him in the Primaries. If he loses either one of those states it is over for him, because McCain is winning the state Obama won during the primaries. McCain can not win New York, Hillary will not allow her state to go red as long as she is Senator. But, McCain has a great shot at Florida, New Jersey and several other blue states. If he takes a state like New Jersey and get Ohio or PA. I think he will win easy. Since it is winner take all, it is important to campaign in close states. You do not want to waste time and money in states you have already wrapped up and you do not want to waste time and money in states you can not win.

How to know *IF* you're a New Yorker By Willy? -- A born & raised NYer!? Question: Willys cynical thought for the fucking day;
I'm not a complete idiot, there're still some fucking parts missing!
How to know *IF* you're a New Yorker By Willy -- A born & raised NYer!
1. New Yorkers ARE NOT FREAKING RUDE! AND ANYBODY WHO THINKS SO CAN
SHOVE IT -- you know where! (I told you we ain't rude)!
2. Born and raised New Yorkers don't have accents; people from the south have a "lazy drawl," people in Cali talk "like Oh Wow that's awesome," Midwesterners talk "corn porn," Bahstuners are always driving a "cah to a bah." etc.. Of course New York's many immigrants all arrive talking "funny." But much of that language, in a few, becomes NY slang! See number 13.
3. Crosswalks WTF are those? You cross the street from wherever YOU are NOT the freaking lines on the road!
4. Depending on your age, and musical tastes, you've been to a "live" music concert at; Averery Fisher Hall, the Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, the Filmore East, Roselands Ballroom, Madison Square Garden -- screw the Meadowlands it's in Jersey - The Bottom Line, CBGBs, or all the above! Live music is what separates the men from boys!
5. You know why, when outsiders write about it, Broadway is always in quotation marks!
6. Cars are cool, to the young, as you get older you rely more on Subways, buses, and trains -- no expensive gasoline or damn parking fees. Besides they take you within walking distance of, almost, any freaking where!
7. If you're male you were once in a gang, probably the __ St. gang, not the crips or bloods, if you're over 35 you've hit somebody or been hit by a baseball bat in anger. Or at least you've seen or heard of it being done!
8. If you're female you were, at one time, a "bad girl!"
9. When out with friends @#%! & *&%# are acceptable figures of speech!
10. When pissed off your language could make a Sailor or a 42nd St. hooker blush!
11. You hate the sound of car horns blaring. Your favorite method of communication is the middle finger. Even if you have to "crawl up the asz" of the car in front of you!
12. You sleep through police & fire department sirens, thunder storms, blackouts, even gun shots! But if the kid upstairs practices guitar too loudly...
13. You understand what, "Domino chocha," "kurveh," "Bootay," and "squaldrina" mean without taking language lessons!
14. WTF are dungarees? In New York we wear jeans, Levi's, Lee's, Wrangler's, mostly blue but not always. And yeah there are those that wear the "Hoi-Paloi designer jeans on sale only $99.95," mostly foreigners from outside of New York!
15. You can go out to a "real pizza place" and eat "real pizza." Turn around and get "Real Chinese food," then go get Jewish pastries at Zabar's. This is stuff made by the real ethnic people, NOT reheated crap put together from a cookbook like an erector set!
16. You love street fairs, garage sales, going out of business sales anywhere you can haggle over the price. You especially like to haggle with non NYers, who are "less skilled," and take them for whatever!
17. New Yorkers know that McDonold's was the death knell of capitalism! It led to all those "cookie cutter" chain stores; and the, smiling, sixteen year old counter clerks with their, phony "Can I help you?" In the days waitresses asked, "What cha want?"
18. You know where the Statue of Liberty, Empire State building, and South Street Seaport are but, except on school trips, you've never been there!
19. New York has four seasons, spring showers, too damn hot, fall rains, and Goddamn it's winter again. This has helped us to develop a tough exterior because the weather ALWAYS changes!
20. If you list your friends, or coworkers in one row, and their ethnic backgrounds across the paper you have a veritable United Nations!
21. "Reality TV" what the fuckk is that all about? It ain't nothing but Hollywood's idea of "relevance." To older NYers "reality TV" began with "Captain Kangaroo," continued with "The Groucho Marx Show," and ended with "I Love Lucy!"
22. In NY we don't follow authority. EVERYBODY is a boss from Donald Trump to the newest janitor who is the "floor boss!"
23. You keep a car jack handle, from an older car, within reach when driving just to be on the safe side. You've heard all the stories of car jacking, and besides you can use it as a drum stick!
24. You live in NYC or within an hour of midtown Manhattan. Or at least you grew up there!
25. New Yorkers don't give a rats asz if they offend people, they ain't changing to please anybody!
26. True NYers don't kiss anybody's asz. If you're with people with a puckered up anus point to the George Washington Bridge and say, "Go to Newark!"
27. NYers are sick of hearing the crime rate has dropped __% this year! We want to know when will it be zero?
28. Other people may, at times, have the "moxie" but died in the wool NYers didn't learned from a book, i.e., "Attitudes for Dummy's." No, we learned it in the streets, alleys, bars, and honky tonks of NYC!
29. Hillary Clinton ain't a New Yorker! Enough said?
30. New Yorkers understand voting is like flushing a toilet; the old turds get flushed to be replaced by freaking new turds!
31. You understand, at first reading, my words. And you get a kick out of sending this list to friends in "Butt-Lick, Kansas," "Lost Wages, Nevada," "Sunny Southern 'Californification'" and "Bahstun, Masivechews-shlt" to rub their faces in the fact that they ain't from New York!
32. Certain areas are technically in NY but the people from there NO WAY IN FREAING HELL. These areas include the upper east side of Manhattan, Scarsdale, much of the Hamptons, etc!
Note to people living other places; that new next door neighbor just maybe a transplanted NYer so be careful he, hell she too, may smack you upside the head just for GP!
I qualify, or I'm guilty of all the above. Now not everybody can be from NY, thank God, and I'm sure people from other places do some of these too. NY doesn't have a "monopoly" last I heard clear channel was still trying to buy it.... Being a "New Yorker" is an attitude more then anything else, and there are idiots living here too see number 29. The attitude of New Yawk carries to wherever they move, and many NYers did & do, so the guy, or girl, who cut you off wherever just maybe originally from the BIG Apple. There's an easy way to test this; open your window and yell at them. If you are rewarded with the NY Bird (Middle finger) that is proof positive (See #11)! Also if a NYer, especially from Brooklyn, moves elsewhere before they finish a sentence the 'locals' ask, "So you're not from around here huh?"
Okay how to know if you're a New Yorker? If you do at least 10 of these things consistently, i.e., you don't do them one at a time over a period of a year. No, you do them all the time then you *MAYBE* a NYer!
Or chicks ONLY send me a photo of your magnificent mounds and I'll tell you if you have "New York potential." The winner of the contest just may win a ticket to NY. Foreigners are eligible too!

Why are blue states doing so bad economically? Question: California is asking for a $7 billion bailout.
"California, Short of Cash, May Ask U.S. for Loan"
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/04calif.html?bl&ex=12 23179200&en=9a2bc36dfc35487b&ei=5087%0A
LOS ANGELES — With the credit crisis cutting off access to short-term financing, California officials said the state may be forced to ask the United States government to lend it $7 billion, warning that the state could run out of money in a few weeks without it.
As the nation’s most populous state, California’s precarious finances underscore the depths of the financial crisis. The emergency handout, the equivalent of $192 for each resident, would rival the federal government’s bailout of New York City in 1975 as it teetered on bankruptcy.
I live in a blue state, New Jersey, and am looking to get out, like many people living here.
"Poll Finds Almost Half of New Jersey Adults Want to Move Out of State"
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,303159,00.html
The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Poll, released Wednesday, found 49 percent of those polled would rather live somewhere else.
Poll participants cited high property taxes (28 percent), the cost of living (19 percent), state taxes (5 percent) and housing costs (6 percent) as the main reasons they want out. The poll also found that 51 percent of those who expressed a desire to leave planned to do so, with adults under the age of 50 making between $50,000 and $100,000 the most likely to flee.
"If you have the ability to leave and you don't see any possibility for change with the way the state is run — and that's the No. 1 issue here — you have to vote with your feet," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute.
"RED STATE VS. BLUE STATE ECONOMICS"
http://www.nypost.com/seven/09212008/postopinion/oped columnists/red_state_vs__blue_state_economics_130036.htm
After a tough week on Wall Street and in Washington, it's important to point out that all economic troubles are not created equal. And it is the red states that are better prepared to weather the crisis.
In Texas, Florida and Arizona, life doesn't seem so grim. As Phil Gramm and Mike Solon noted in a Sept. 13 Wall Street Journal column, those three large states gained 1.7 million, 1.4 million, and 600,000 jobs, respectively, from 1996-2006. That's one-third of all US jobs during that period. The states also had per-capita income growth that far outpaced the national averages.
But if you're looking for economic struggles, visit the blue states.
Begin with big kahuna California, which gave John Kerry a 10% margin in 2004. The now-misnamed Golden State, with its Democrat-dominated legislature and might-as-well-be-a-Democrat governor, had an August unemployment rate of 7.7%, up from just 5.5%, and over 400,000 more unemployed workers, in 12 months. Yet Arnold Schwarzenegger rejects the idea of offshore drilling, and the jobs it will create.
Finally, head west a bit to Obama's Illinois (7.3% unemployment). Its Democratic governor, legislature, big-city mayor, and US senators have all played a role in creating the Land of Lincoln's economic lousiness. Moving Democratic National Committee operations to Chicago, perhaps Obama's most noteworthy "jobs program," has made little difference.
Is this what we have to look forward to with Obama/Biden?
Answer:
I am an independent and I am just going to say one thing about why the blue states are doing poorly all the firms say in Boston and so On are really big into the stock market new york and so on we have companies here that are directly effected by transitions in the market and it is our biggest downfall we don't have many idustries here and if we do they are defense like General Dynamics, Ratheon, Natick Labs, Texas and many other states have a lot of back up income such as farming and some are major industrial centers. I know this is just a Generalization and there is a lot more to it but this is the basics of why we are doing a bit more poorly. P.S. I am from the Boston area.
As for all the Obama Supporters who gave rather rude answers. If you are so devoted to change then you would use this opportunity to try and educate people from your point of view and making fun of a stereo type like with the super walmarts shows how ignorant and arrogant you really are. Hopefully not all Obama supporters are like you and wish to educate others about why you have the point of View that you do.
You should also realize that Democrat = Republican and no matter who get's on office we must remain vigilant to make sure we let them know we are watching and are going to make sure they carry out the will of the People.
This of course is just my opinion.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED: MY AGE IS 23, and i live in New York
Answer:
I really love that silver and that black. Blue is alright, but I wouldn't choose it and red can be dangerous because depending on the shade, it can be feminine. Plus a lot of the time, red clashes with the red of the taillights. Silver is nice because it looks clean, sleek, and elegant. Plus, when people scratch up your car, it's not as noticeable because the metal below is silver. Black is nice because it looks aggressive, powerful, and mysterious. I like it. Personally, black is my favorite color on the '07 Altima. It's really your decision, but silver and black are the ones I would think about.

Answer:
Why in the name of English didn't you turn spell check on? It's a very simple task prior to hitting send. I enjoyed your story. It held my interest. Follow your dream. Never allow "negative thoughts" from ordinary people who choose to stay in "comfort zones" stop you. Bruce Wilkerson wrote a book that makes this point very clear. "The Dream Giver". I reccomend it highly, if you've not already read it. Blessings on your journey.........................
