Getting to and from Bergen County, NJ from New York airport? Question: I'll be arriving 5pm at John F Kennedy airport and need to get to Bergen County. Whats the cheapest and quickest way getting there? Is there a bus i can take? a train...?
ooops, sorry guys!
The freind i'm meeting there said she lives a few blocks away from the Hilton Hotel. Is that in the area of Woodcliff Lake?
Answer:
There is a Hilton in Woodcliff Lake, and good news there is a train that goes to Woodcliff Lake. However it is not direct from Penn Station, however you have couple of options to get there.
Option 1. Take the Airtrain to Sutphin/Jamaica Station. Take the downtown E train to 34th Street Penn Station. At Penn Station take any NJ Transit train that says SEC (Secaucus Junction on it), you will know what I mean when you get there, it will be on the video board. Take the train to Secaucus. At Secaucus, transfer to the Pasack Valley Line, and get off at Woodcliff Lake.
Option 2. Take the Airtrain to Sutphin/Jamaica Station. Take the Downtown E to Lexington Av / 53 St and transfer to the Downtown V. Take the V to 34 Street-Herald Square. At 34th Street-Herald Square, take the PATH to Hoboken. At Hoboken transfer to NJ Transit aboard the Pasack Valley Line to Woodcliff Lake.
Option 3. This is according to NJ Transit's website. Take the Airtrain to Howard Beach. Take the Uptown A to 34th Street/Penn Station, and follow directions as in option 1.
Option 4: Take the Airtrain to Sutphin/Jamaica Station. Take the downtown E train to the Port Authority/42nd Street. Take the Coach USA/Rockland Coaches 11C to Woodcliff Lake.

How far is Bergen County, New Jersey from New York City? Question: In terms of commuting, minutes, etc.
Answer:
Bergen County is quite large, so it depends on where in Bergen County you are coming from to New York. Where I live, for example is approximately 5-10 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. From towns further north it would take between 1/2 hour to 40 minutes. Hope this helps you.

How to go to new jersey from new york 48 th street 111 east? Question: I would like to go to new jersey from new york 48 th street 111 east
I don't want to spend $40 for taxi .
jersey address
3125 Kennedy Blvd., North Bergen, NJ 07047
Thanks
Answer:
There's a PATH stop located near the Manhattan Mall (about a block away from Penn Station)- take that to Hoboken Terminal. Then you can take the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to North Bergen. Shouldn't be more than $10- $15.
If you don't want to take the PATH, you can also take any NJ Transit train that stops at Newark Broad Street. Get off there and then ride back to Hoboken and use the HBLR from there.

I am about to move to New Jersey, Bergen or Essex county? Which town is best to live and why? Question: I am looking to buy a property, possible with low taxes, near good schools, residantiol area and no more then 20 miles from New York City.
Answer:
Try contacting a local real estate agent. They will know everything there is to know about options in the area. A really good website to browse local real estate/real estate agents is: http://www.realestateforsaleinnewjersey.com
It's really easy to navigate and is full of info about realtors with links to their personal websites. Most of their websites will have all the available homes/rentals in the area along with community info, so you can do some research before you contact anyone. Hopefully that works for you. Good luck!

Hot Chip at Terminal 5 in New York on the fourth of October. ? Question: We are traveling to New York to see Hot Chip at Terminal 5 on the fourth of October. We are staying In North Bergen New Jersey and I was wondering about transport back to our hotel after the show. Do cabs go to Jersey? Price?
Does anyone know what time they are usually finished? My ticket says 7 PM Door / 8 PM Show. Is that accurate to when shows actually start?
We are obviously from a much smaller town.
Answer:
If the show is supposed to begin at 8pm, it most likely will not. All of the people who are setting up, etc always take a little bit longer to do so; not A LOT longer, but it probably won't start at 8pm on the dot. You should definitely still get there at 7pm though, if you want to be close to the stage, because the place will fill up.
The start time also depends on whether Hot Chip have opening acts. The opening acts will perform about 8-10 songs of their own before the next band comes on and, between bands, there is also a set change that takes about 15-20 minutes. All in all, you would probably get out of there around Midnight, give or take.
As far as cabs go, I'm not too certain about whether or not they will take you back to Jersey (but I would think they would if it isn't too far- money is money, after all). What you can do is call one of the numbers from the sites below and ask. Or perhaps you can arrange to have one (whether its an NYC cab or a private one) pick you up at a certain time outside of the concert? Give it a whirl.

Have fun at the concert!

New Yorkers & New Jerseyans:How come NY & NJ are rarely battleground states in any presidential election? Question: By the way,I'm a Rockland County NY resident who lives 5 minutes away from northern NJ,north Bergen County,to be exact.
Is it because the Democratic Party has been so dominant in the New York/New Jersey area for so long?Is that why?How and when did the Democratic Party get to be so dominant in New York and New Jersey?
This isn't something which is addressed too often either on the internet or in the mainstream media.
Answer:
Good question--and the answer is to be found in the history of the region.
Briefly (very):
>Late 1800s to about 1920--millions of immigrants came to America--mostly through the Northeast, especially NYC. Not surprisingly, a large percentage settled there because of he relatively low-skilled factory work available.
>The Democratic Party was more receptive of and supportive of immigrants. That established a strong base of working class support
>In the 1930s, with the rise of labor unions, the Democrats again supported the more numerous blue-collar population ( by then the descendent's of those immigrants, for the most part). The GOP was strongly anti-union, and that more or less sealed the deal: working class citizens became overwhelmingly Democrat--and still are to an extent.
>Another thread:pror to teh e Civil Rights Movement, large numbers of African Americans left the Suth and settled in the indusrial North. When, in t e1960s, the Democrats forced the "southern wing" to abandon its anti-civil rights and segregationist ideology, blacks began to switch to the Democratic Party in large numbers. As the GOP began to be more conservative and opposed various programs blacks saw as being in their interest, this shift solidified--today black people are overwhelmingly Democrat.
>Final thread. Traditionally, the upper middle class--especially those in ethnic groups (ranging from Irish to Jewish to Italian) tend to be liberal, especially those i n the professions or intellectual careers. That region of the country was for a long time the center of those groups--and still is to an extent. They have formed a highly skilled core of people who "know how to get things done" and thus a leadership core for the "rank-and-file" Democrats.
Hope that helps.

Where can I find go karting facilities in the NYC/NJ (Bergen County) area? Question: I really want to get into go karting, but I'm having trouble finding a venue around the New York City and Bergen County, NJ area. I wanted to go to an indoors one for my boyfriends birthday, but had no luck. The nearest ones I've found were in Binghamton, NY (which is about 5 hours away); basically upstate NY and some in MA. Although I wouldn't mind driving there once in a blue moon, but ultimately, can you please help me find a track that's nearby? I live in the Edgewater, NJ area. Thanks
Answer:
You could check the phone book and you can do yahoo search :o)

What is the most romantic/amazing scenery in Northern New Jersey? Question: I am planning a very important romantic evening with someone in northern NJ (Bergen County). I used to live in the area, but now live in Ocean County. I am planning a picknic of sorts, and I'm trying to find any little known spot with amazing scenery. I'm willing to drive 60 miles in any direction to get there, but will be unable to check it out myself before the evening. I don't know what the weather will be like, so while I'm looking for outdoor suggestions, indoor (or ones I can park at) are welcome too. Places that we are not exactly supposed to be is okay too (as long as the risk of getting caught is not too high...not secret military bases!). The reson I am not using any one of the handful of places I already know is because she and I have been there already, and I'm looking for something new and exciting. New York state is also a viable option. It will be in the evening, so some place that can be navigated in the dark (I'll bring a flashlight if nessciary). thanks!
Thanks for the suggestions so far. She grew up in NJ (and has had boyfriends in the Hoboken area) so a view of the city from NJ might be over done for her (but it is still a great view!). The idea of a waterfall sounds perfect. Does Clark Falls have a place we could lay out under the stars, and see the waterfall? Would I get lost wandering around there for the first time, at night? I love watefalls, and any other suggestions along those lines would be great! Also, any place with any romantic history to it would be nice as well.
Answer:
Palisades Park is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and they offer boat rides too. The George Washington bridge is right underneath the park and at night the bridge lights up, it's gorgeous. They have picnic tables and the mountain views are gorgeous. GOOD LUCK!

about New York/Jersey Accents? Question: Can someone help me classify which one i have?
There are some words that i say differently then most New Yorkers. I have lived in North Bergen, Jersey and in Brooklyn, in a predominantly jewish area. So Yea.
It rubs off.
Such words I say are:
Tawk - Talk
Coh-nuh - Corner
Dawg - Dog
Gawd - God
Wooder - Water
Whut - What?
Yea.
I also happen to stress on vowels in certain words.
I'm not originally from NY, the day i after i was born, me and my mom moved to Jersey, then when i was 2 or 3 we moved to riverdale, then to manhattan, then bronx, next brooklyn, and the bronx now. And i'm moving back to Jersey after college.
I lived in Riverdale for a short period of time
For a few months.
