    City Description

Bellerose is a village in Nassau County, New York in the United States. The population was 1,173 at the 2000 census. The Village of Bellerose is in the Town of Hempstead near the western county line. The village was founded by Helen Marsh of Lynn, Massachusetts. In 1907, planning to build a model community, Marsh purchased 77 acres of Floral Park, New York gladiola fields. The first Bellerose home was completed, under Marsh's supervision, in 1910. Marsh persuaded the Long Island Rail Road to place a station in the new village, and she named the station Bellerose. Though it has been suggested that she named the station for the Rose farm, south of the railroad, and her daughter Belle, she said that she simply found the name "euphonious." A vote of the homeowners made the name official in 1917. Bruno Francesco is the president of the North Bellerose Coalition (2001-2006) Bellerose Village has its own mayor and board of trustees. Thomas Van Buskirk served as mayor for 12 years, from 1993 until 2004. During his tenure he was responsible for the installation of a town playground, the purchase of a new fire truck and chief's car, the re-modeling of the town hall and many other

    Question:
I'd like to know how high the land is in areas in New York City, specifically Queens Village/Jamaica/Bellerose. Is there a website that has this information? I can only find websites that offer flood zones/elevations but they charge. Google Maps does not show land elevations dude.. I've checked Satellite, Hybrid, Traffic, and regular views.

New York City People! Train and Bus Help?!?
    Question:
I'm going to High school in Manhattan this year, and I'm trying to plan a route that is affordable and fast, so I can get enough sleep (since I live all the way in the end of Queens) I'm planning some routes, and can some please tell me the best way to go? 1. Take the Q46 from 251 street in Glen Oaks and take the E train from Kew Gardens to World Trade Center. 2. Take the QM1A (The Downtown Loop?) from the 248Street Station in Glen Oaks to Church Street/Vesey Street. 3. Take the Q74 from Little Neck Pkwy. to the Bellerose LIRR Station. Then, take the 1, 2, or 3 from Penn Station to Chambers Street. (For the 1st option, I am given a free metrocard from the school for 3 rides. I know there is bus to train transfer and train to bus transfer, so I'll be using two rides per day) (For the 2nd option, I don't know anything about it. I most likely need a student pass (is their discounts?) and probably need an Unlimited Card (Is there one?) (For the 3rd option. Is their a discounted Unlimited Student Pass for the LIRR, and with the Q74 to 1,2, or 3, and back, it takes up 2 rides.)

    Answer:
Congrats on getting into Stuyvesant. When you said Chambers Street, I immediately knew you are going to the high school I went to. :-) I think the QM1A is probably your best option. That way you will get one continuous ride to take a nap or read or whatever. Good luck at Stuy!
