Ok. Hi, I have directions to get to pelham bay park. I know how to get to the stop on the train. But when I get to station the park is near but its not close because theres a bridge right near the station. And everyone is tellin me theres no bus u take u just gotta walk to the park...but the park seems so far from the station..I kno from the station theres 2 ways u can go when exiting. I only have been one way towards the 12 bus. So in order to get to the park do I get the other way? Its a cookout im going to..so thanks for your help

    Answer:
The last stop on the 6 train is right at Pelham Bay park. The bridge will lead you to the park, but as someone else commented, the park is huge. Maybe you should have someone from da cookout meet you and other folks at the station and shuttle people back and forth, or have them tie ribbons or post signs on the gates/trees.

Do you think Bus Rapid Transit will work on NYC and Central Park Av in Westchester?
    Question:
10 point bonus. According to New York City Transit, Bus Rapid Transit will be along 2nd-1st Avs-Water St route via 125th St Crosstown between 125th St/Hudson River and South Ferry in Manhattan. Another one is Merrick Rd between Jamaica and Green Acres Mall in Queens. Another one is on Nostrand-Bedford Avs between Williamsburg and Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. Another one is Pelham Parkway/Fordham Rd between Inwood-207th St and Bay Plaza Shopping Center. Westchester County is planning to make Bee-Line 21 full time service. Do you think Bus Rapid Transit will work in New York? If you don't know what Bus Rapid Transit, please see the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_rapid_transit YOU'LL RECEIVE 10 POINT BONUS.

    Answer:
BRT will work very well in New York City, because it will provide faster bus service to areas of the city that currently have no subway service. BRT has been very successful in cities in other parts of the world and in the US. The city of Los Angeles already have several BRTs lines running on its bus network, including the Orange Line metro, which is a BRT that operates on its own lane. The best way for the BRT to function in New York will be building dedicated lanes of traffic for BRTs on major roads and installing turnstiles or some type of control barriers at the BRT stations so fare can be collected at the stops rather than on the bus itself, much like a subway. That way it will speed up service on the BRT and make the system very efficient. In the Bronx, where I live, besides having a BRT line for the route along Fordham Road/Pelham Parkway corridor, Transit should have BRT routes along key roads where bus riderhship is at its highest. This system should replace the Bx-55 limited bus route, which always gets into buddleneck along 3rd Avenue from 163rd Street right down to the end of the line at 149th Street in the Hub. So in the end, BRT will work in the NYC and Westchester if the electated officials do the right thing and provide the money to buidling a proper BRT route, not one build on a regular road where it has to share trip with other vehicle, but a dedicated route for Bus Rapid Trasit. Good luck

Why do a lot of Canadians shop in the States and a lot of Americans shop in Canada?
    Question:
I live just across the border from Ontario,Canada in Cheektowaga (Buffalo), New York. One of our malls is called the Walden Galleria and about 70% of all the license plates in the parking lot are from Ontario! I was speaking to a Canadian couple the other day and they said they come down every 2 months for all the deals at the American department stores like Target and JCpenny. It's funny because I go to Yorkdale in Toronto all the time and I love there shops! The Bay and Zellers are great!! I was wondering why a lot of people seem to like shopping at stores they don't have around them. Is it because it's different, or a change from the norm, or just because the deals really are better? I know not every one does this, but avid shoppers seem to enjoy this (including me lol!) It's great to see so many positive response's! I love Canada and the USA!!

    Answer:
Haha! The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

can't any one edit my research essay. it only half please ASAP?
    Question:
If you believe in yourself, then you can do anything you wanted. One man had demonstrated this to all of us in the American history though his journey of being affect by a disease that almost ruined his life. However, he had overcome the obstacle, and rise to the occasion to become the 32nd President of the US in 1933-1945 and become the one man we are all admire who had lead us though the Great Depression and the World War II. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was born on January 30, 1882, Hyde Park, New York. (3) He was the only of James and Sara Delano Roosevelt. FDR was born in a wealthy family where he attended in a private school, He know how to read and write at the age of six taught by the governess in Latin, French, and German with History and geography science and arithmetic. Because of his background he didn’t have any friends, and all of his life was surrounded in school. In fact, in 1896, he entered Groton a prep school at the age of 14, most of the people go here would go to Ivy League College. While attended at Groton he also involved in sport such as, bun basketball and high kick (B). In 1900, FDR entered Harvard University, where his majored in history and government with English and public speaking as minors (B) and it was during the year where he spent in Harvard University that he becomes admired to his fifth cousin, President Theodore Roosevelt (3). During his freshmen year was maybe was his hardest year because his father passed away of a heart ailment at the age of 72 (B) but he got back from the incident. However, during the year where he spent at Harvard was maybe his happiness time because he felt in love with Theodore Roosevelt’s niece, Eleanor Roosevelt (3). On November 21, 1903 he asked Eleanor to married him, and by Saint Patrick’s Day they were married on New York performed by Reverend Endicott Peabody (B). Three years later, May 1906 their first child Anna born, 1097 James followed, Franklin, Jr. died after birth in 1909, Elliott in 1910, second Franklin Jr. in 1919, and John in 1916. (B). FDR always had admired his cousin Teddy who is back then is the New York State legislative to the White House. Because of his cousin FDR wanted to become more involved in politics more than ever. Which is why he runs for New York State Senate from Twenty-sixth District in 1910. He won the campaign because of his way to reach the people in the district, he make ten speeches a day, and by the Election Day, he had traveled more than 2 thousand miles. In 1912 election he was elected against event though he was not present became he fell ill with a typhoid fever. In April 6, 1917 when the U.S. enters World War I, FDR help mobilizing the navy. In 1914, he ran for US senator, but unfortunately he lost. In 1920, he ran campaign for James M. Cox; they visited 32 states make more than thousand speeches. However, with their campaign strategy they still lost, but it was the first time women were voting in 1920(B). When he done with his entire job, it was the family tradition to take a vacation to Campobello. ON August 9, 1921, FDR’s family goes on their vacation to put all the stress behind. There was an accident where Roosevelt fell into the lake, and got a chilled, but he was uninjured. August 10, His three children and him went to the Bay of Fundy. On their way to the bay, they stopped and put out a fire on an island. IT took them several hours, because they also went for a jogged across Campobello Island to swim to Lake Glen Severn and the bay. When he got home FDR noticed, his feeling was not right after the exercise. For that night he got a chilled. August 11 morning, one of his leg was weak, by the afternoon, the leg was paralyzed. In the evening, the other leg began to get weaker. August 12, he can’t get up because of bilateral paralysis, and his temperature was 102 F. In fact, he didn’t feel any pain along the spine and the neck, while they did get the doctor, it was said to be a “heavy cold” by Dr. E.E. Bennel. Most people should have recognized that it was not a cold since Roosevelt was unable to sit without an aided. By the next day he was paralyzed from the chest down, his arm and shoulders and thumb were very weak. (1). Dr. W.W. Keen examined FDR against and found “ a lot of blood from a sudden congestion-settled in the lower spiral cord.” The next few days his hand, arm and holder became very weak. He had difficulty in defaecation and required enemas. He couldn’t urine for two weeks, this on top with a fever for six or seven days. On August 18, he got a brief delirious. By this time most people know it was just not a cold any more, and his wife was not going to take that chance, she kept the children away because she knew he might got poliomyelitis. On the 15 days of his disease, his temperature was 100 F, he was paralyzed from the waist down, and the back muscles were very weak. He began to experienced pain in the legs to the touch; from this most people began to get their conclusion that he was diagnosis with poliomyelitis. (1). Most doctor didn’t recognized it was polio at first because during the lat of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, poliomyelitis was not very common and there was a few that was cause by flaccid paralysis.(1)

    Answer:
Your grammar and syntax need a lot of work. ! he got a brief delirious? people began to get a conclusion? for that night he got a chilled? Read your work out loud to get a clearer idea of what i mean.. Also an essay states a position that argues a case. What you have written is a report. If it is meant to be a report it would seem OK if you can sort out the grammar. If it is meant to be an essay it needs to be a position you can defend with research and logical argument. "My essay will argue that having a debilitating illness is not an impediment to achieving great things. To support this argument I will refer to the life and achievements of Franklin Delano Roosevelt who fought polio and still rose to became the 32nd president of the United States of America." I will reference to Smith, Jones and blah to support my research. Hope that helps

    Best Ballpark in MLB?
    Question:
I've attended many MLB games in many various ballparks and I'll say that San Francisco Giants' AT&T Park, SBC Park, or Pacific Bell Park is far the best. The view of the bay is unbeatable, the atmosphere there makes me want to never leave the ballpark. I've been to the Yankee Stadium and its a ok-ok stadium, never really liked it. I'll be attending a New York Mets game next week against the Reds at Shea Stadium so can't wait to see the stadium! What do you think?

    Answer:
Greetings from inside the Yahoo Brain in New York City! Hope you're catching the live webcast at: http://advision.webevents.yahoo.com/asktheplanet/brain.html ! Nicest park I've attended is Orioles Park at Camden Yards. Just beautiful. That complex also houses the best NFL football stadium as well, M&T Bank Stadium. But the BEST park is by far Yankee Stadium. If you walk into a game there, fully packed with 50,000 fans (as most are), you can't help but get goosebumps as you almost feel the electricity and history. It's great. Conversely Shea Stadium, in which I've watched dozens and dozens of games, is a total DUMP, and the worst park in the major leagues, as constantly voted by players and fans alike. Thankfully the Mets and their loyal fans are going to be rewarded with a new stadium soon. Hope this helps! --J.

Why is the wild card race needed in major league baseball?
    Question:
Right now, we could be enjoying winner-take-all fights to the finish between Boston and Tampa Bay in the AL East, and New York and Philadelphia in the NL East. A team that is having a great year (Cubs) wouldn't be at risk to be beaten in the playoffs by a team that is currently 9 games behind them (Milwaukee). I really miss the old pennant races, with the scoreboard watching, and the intense battles as the season ends. The poignant heartbreak of very good teams not making the postseason (78 Red Sox, 80 Orioles, 93 Giants). Now, we have confusing baseball races and a postseason that goes on forever. If baseball really wanted people excited about their postseason, they'd give the best team in each league a bye into the LCS, and let the other two division winners fight it out in a one or three-game series. I know the standard argument is that it draws fans. Well, most ballparks today seem to be amusement park/malls that include a major league baseball team. As long as a team competes to win on any given night, that should be enough for the average fan.

    Answer:
To create more meaningful games. I don't care for the wild card but like in 2006 if the Tigers finish second and they are crown AL Champs I'm not gonna complain.

    Question:
Adeline Virginia Stephen was born on January 25, 1882 in London, England and the daughter of Julia Jackson Ducksworth and Sir Leslie Stephen. Julia, her mother, was a member of Ducksworth publishing family and the descendant of Marie Antoinette. She was first married to Herbert Ducksworth with whom she had three children: George, Stella and Gerald. Sir Leslie Stephen, her father, was a literary critic and an English author. He was first married to Hariet Marion and had a daughter, Laura Makepeace Stephen. Julia and Leslie married in 1875 and had Thoby, Adrian, Virginia and Vanessa. (Young 23) Virginia was educated at home by her father at Hyde Park Gate in London where she had full access to her father's large library. She didn't enjoy her childhood as much as she would like, and Woolf described her experience as,"No school; mooning about alone among my father's books; never any chance to pick up all that goes on in schools—throwing balls; ragging; slang; vulgarities; scenes; jealousies!" She would spend long hours at her father's library reading books, because she was determined to become a writer like her father. (Caws 46) Her most fondest childhood memory was at the Talland House in St. Ives, Cornwall where the setting of most of her novels occured such as one of her famous books, To the Lighthouse. She spent most of her childhood summer vacations, holidays and family gatherings there. She remembers it as a "fun and festive place to stay." It looked over the Porthminister Bay and the Godrevy Lighthouse. (Rich) Virginia lived a very troubled life. Her half-brother, Gerald Ducksworth, sexually abused her and Vannesa in their early teens after their father's death. "I can remember the feel of his hands going under my clothes; going firmly and steadily lower and lower, I remember how I hoped that he would stop; how I stiffened and wriggled as his hand approached my private parts. But he did not stop" (Woolf ). This caused her major psychological damage throughout her life and sexual fears. Virginia suffered numerous nervous breakdowns. Deaths in her family was the major cause of her nervous breakdowns. She had her first major nervous breakdown when her mother died in 1895 when she was only thirteen years old. After her mother's death, her half-sister, Stella, stood as their mother and took care of her siblings. Sadly two years later after Julia's death, Stella died. Her second major breakdown occurred when her father died of cancer in 1904. This was the most dangerous and alarming breakdown, because she tried to commit suicide by jumping out of the window. Her family decided to institutionalized her to help her get better. (Roy) Roughly after her father's death, Virginia and her three other siblings moved to Bloomsbury to avoid George, who've sexually abused and bullied both Virginia and Vanessa. Virginia and her siblings began The Bloomsbury Group in their new house. They held meetings and talked about literature, criticism, economics, feminism, sexuality etc. Members were mainly upper middle class families and were mostly the Stephen's family, relatives and close friends. It was called The Bloomsbury Group, because most of the members lived in Bloomsbury which is located in the West Central district in London, England. While she was busy with The Bloomsbury Group, Woolf then started tutoring at the Morley College, an evening school for working men and women, once a week. In 1905, she began writing for the Times Literary Supplement for many years while working on her first novel, The Voyage Out. The book was already done in 1907 and was originally called The Melymbrosia, but Woolf was not emotionally stable. (Brackett 86) Woolf finally published her first book called The Voyage Out was published in 1915 by Ducksworth. It was a "strange, tragic, inspired book whose scene is a South americanca not found on any map and reached by a boat which would not float on any sea, an americanca whose spiritual boundaries touch Xanadu and Atlantis... It is absolutely unafraid... Here at last is a book which attains unity as surely as Wuthering Heights, though by a different path" (Merriman). Virginia married Leonard Woolf, a political theorist, on August 10, 1912 and went to Spain and Italy for their honeymoon. On October 1914, they both decided to move in Richmond. Virginia at that time was recovering from a nervous breakdown. Leonard devoted his life to Virginia and was determined to help her get better. In 1917, he then decided to purchase Hogarth Press in 1917 for Virginia to have something to do. The aim was to publish their works and their friends' works. After her first novel, Virginia published most of her books there. The Hogarth Press became a successful publishing house printing the early works of Forster, Katherine Mansfield, and T. S. Eliot, Sigmund Freud. Woolf had an affair with Vita Sackvillewest for a short period of time. Vita Sacksvillewest was an English poet and novelist. She was Harold Nicholson's wife and both had several same-sex relationships outside their marriage. Leonard did not mind her having an affair with another women and so did Harold. Woolf wrote Orlando as a result of this affair. (Bloom 75) After her first book, Woolf wrote several other books and published it in Hogarth Press. Virginia Woolf's works are linked to development of feminist criticism and an important writer in te modernist movement. She changed writing novels that allowed to depict inner lives of the characters in a very deep and intimate detail. In 1922, Virginia published Jacob's Room, and it was based on his brother's life and death, Thoby. To the Lighthouse and The Waves were the novels that helped her establish her name and became known as "one of the leading writers of modernism" The Waves is considered as her most difficult novel, because it tracks the lives of six different people from their school days to the death of the main character. Her most famous statement was in A Room of One's Own published in 1929. "A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction." (Woolf) Virginia Woolf had her last mental breakdown and feared that it would be permanent. She filled her pockets with stones and decided to drown herself in the River Ouse. Virginia left a note for her husband that says, "I feel certain that I am going mad again. I feel we can't go through mother of those terrible times. And I shan't recover this time." (Brackett 94) Mrs Dalloway was published in 1925. This book was about Clarissa Dalloway hosting an extravagant party that evening in London. Peter Walsh, her old friend and suitor, drops by her house unexpectedly and Clarissa was shocked. She recalls her life before World War I when she had a relationship with Peter Walsh before she married Richard Dalloway. Peter never really got over the fact that Clarissa refused her marriage proposal. He was about to ask her if she loves her husband but Clarissa's daughter came in. He then went to Regent's Park to pass time. After Peter left, the author changed her point of view to Septimus who was at Regent's Park. He was a veteran of World War I who suffers from shell shock. Lucrezia, his wife, and Septimus were waiting for his appointment with the psychiatrist at the park. He used to be a young poet and a fan of Shakespeare but became numb after the war. Septimus feels worthless and lost the desire to live. His experienced in the war have scarred him permanently, but the psychiatrist would not listen to him. He wants to send Septimus to a mental institution away from Lucrezia, because he believes that it would help him get better. (Roy) Clarissa's husband, Richard Dalloway, returned home from lunch with Whitbread and Bruton with a large bouqet of roses. He wants to tell her how much he loves her but could not, because it has been a very long time since he last did. On the other hand, Clarissa feels a little disturbed that Richard doesn't know everything about her life. She is happy though that they are able to maintain privacy because she believes that it is the key to a successful marriage. Meanwhile, Septimus and Lucrezia are in the apartment enjoying their happiness together before he leaves Lucrezia. When Dr. Holmes arrives, Septimus feels that the doctor will destroy his soul. In order to avoid Dr. Holmes, he jumped off his apartment window and killed himself. The story shifts back to Clarissa's party. She heard about Septimus' death at the party and admired him for having the courage to not compromise his soul. She feels responsible for his death, because she was the society hostess. (Roy) Clarissa Dalloway struggles to balance her internal life with the external world. She lives off her external world that consists of fashion, parties, and appearance but beneath wants a deeper meaning of life. Septimus on the hand, removed himself from the external world and lives in an internal world. Peter Walsh, Clarissa's old suitor and friend, fears that he wated his life. He is confused with how he feels and tries to talk himself into feeling or not feeling things. Richard Dalloway, Clarissa's husband, considers tradition as the primary importance in life than open communication or passion. (Roy) The themes of the novel were communication vs. privacy and fear of death. Clarissa, Septimus, Peter and Richard finds privacy and communication difficult to both attain. Clarissa throws parties to help draw people together. The novel took place in London, England and the entire novel happened in less than twenty-four hours. Bloom, Harold. Virginia Woolf.
