Where can I find what numbers will have to change area codes in New Mexico? Question: We live in Placitas, NM - just north of Albuquerque, east of Bernalillo and south of Santa Fe. We heard that Sandoval County will be split in half when area codes change. So the cities and towns surrounding us will, in essence keep the same area code - and we will have to switch?
Answer:
I just looked around some websites...and couldn't find anything about the new re-assigning of area codes. Perhaps they are not available yet. I even looked the the state website.
Maybe you can email the below website and see if they can answer for you.
good luck

Why are Out-of-State Obama staffers casting votes in New Mexico? Question: It looks like out-of-state volunteers and staffers are registering and casting ballots in the battleground state of New Mexico, too.
One example is Shayne Adamski. He lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, is actively involved in politics and was a California delegate at the Democratic National Convention just 2 short months ago. Adamski is also a paid employee on the Obama campaign, and he traveled to New Mexico to help get out the vote in this swing state. All of this is quite admirable.
However, according to the Bernalillo County Clerk, Adamski registered to vote as a resident of Albuquerque on October 5. That's just 38 days after he was representing the state of California as a delegate on the final day of the Democratic National Convention. He also requested an absentee ballot.
(We do not yet know if he cast a ballot, we are waiting to hear from the County Clerk.)

Republican Fernando de Baca's racist comment? Question: Fernando de Baca is a chairman in the Bernalillo County Republican Party in New Mexico. He was quoted saying on a BBC interview, "The truth is that Hispanics came here as conquerors. African-Americans came here as slaves. Hispanics consider themselves above blacks. They won’t vote for a black president." Doesn't he know that 60% of the people in Mexico are part Native American and 30% are 100% Native American? Look at what happened to the Native Americans, they went from a population of 10 million down to 2 million and they lost their land; he just wants to concentrate on the Spanish. Actually, I don't think there are hardly any Hispanics who are 100% white; most are either part Native American or part black and have ancestors who were slaves. It just goes to show you that racists are just ignorant people. It's a good thing New Mexico Republicans are calling for his resignation. What do you think?
There are Native Americans in South and Central America also. Central America has people of African American descent and so does Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
typo, I meant African descent. If Mike B had a grip on the world, he would know that when I mentioned the Hispanics of black descent, I wasn't talking about Mexicans because there are hardly any blacks in Mexico. I never even said that Hispanic only included Mexicans, I was just using them as an example.
Yes Jero, I forgot that Muslim Arabs used to control Spain.
Just to straighten things out, I used Mexico as an example because I already have the figures for that nation. Fernando de Baca is of Mexican descent as well as most of the Hispanics in New Mexico and even the U.S. I didn't mean to single out just Mexicans.
Sorry, I was referring to Boogie, not Mike B. Mike B has to be talking about immigrants because I live in south Texas and I see plenty of Hispanics on welfare, dropping out of school, having babies as teenagers, and having way more children than they can take care of.
Answer:
I think a lot of people really do think that way, so what he's saying is true in a sense (not that Hispanics are above blacks but that some Hispanics think that way& wouldn't vote for Obama).
The issue to me would be does HE actually feel that way? I don't see how you can tell by that quote though, it only tells me that he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Also that he's ignorant- you're right about there being very few Hispanics who are entirely descended from the conquistadors. I think he should resign because he's obviously some sort of politically incapable moron, I wouldn't say he's a racist for sure just from this quote though.

Whoa did you see this ?GOP sues for license records (NM-Illegals-voter fraud)? Question: KRQE News 13, Albuquerque ^
ALBUQUERQUE -- The Republican Party is taking on the state in court to get drivers’ license records it wants to comb for the names of illegal immigrants.
Illegal immigrants with driver’s licenses could commit voter fraud, according to the GOP.
Republicans claim Gov. Bill Richardson's administration isn't providing the names of illegal immigrants who have New Mexico driver's licenses.
GOP officials said they want the names on the driver's licenses so they can check them against voter registration rolls and protect against potential voter fraud.
Nina Martinez, secretary for the state Republican Party, said the group submitted a request through the state's Inspection of Public Records act back in July.
Martinez said the party estimates there are at least 30,000 illegal immigrants with New Mexico driver's licenses.
Martinez said in August the state did release 150 pages of documents, but nearly all of them had information redacted by blacking it out.
“We wanted to have the information in the summer so we could run these names against the voter registration rolls,” Martinez said. “We had to sue now because we've basically gone through all the process where they’ve denied us and sent us 150 pages of redacted material.”
David Harwel, a spokesman for the state Taxation and Revenue Department has said in the past that federal law prevents the department from disclosing the names sought by the Republicans.
A spokesman for Richardson told KRQE News 13 that the Republican Party is just trying to politicize the issue before election day.
The Republican party said it has requested an emergency District Court hearing on the issue in Bernalillo County.
Hypocrits who refuse to secure the border and enforce our immigration laws have no right then to concern and indignation over voter fraud.
Probably at least five to ten times that many, since most illegal aliens have no incentive to get a driver's license. If an illegal alien gets pulled over without a license, registration, or insurance, most police departments have made it to their policy to just let the illegal alien go, often without even so much as a citation if the illegal alien is at fault for a traffic accident. It is anarchy in the making.
Answer:
Dude, it is completely inappropriate to bitch about law enforcement efforts to prevent crime....especially when that crime is so serious and so basic as voter fraud. Let's be blunt. These are foriegn criminals attempting to take over our government. They should be shot. And so should the people attempting to help them in the democratic party. They are committing treason....again.

Anybody live in Colorado???? Lucky YOU!!!!? Question: Colorado DMV sets up check on phony papers
By Scripps McClatchy Western Service
September 6, 2006
Posted 12:30 p.m.
More than 1,700 illegal immigrants have been caught attempting to pass fake documents at Colorado driver's licenses offices in the first month after a tough immigration law went into effect, according to a state official.
"We're seeing evidence of individuals trying to slip through the cracks," said Michael Cooke, executive director of the Colorado Department of Revenue.
Colorado's new anti-illegal immigration laws passed by the legislature this summer set up a strict identification check meant to deny most public services to undocumented adult immigrants.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is on the front line of those checks.
As residents come into DMV offices to get state ID cards or driver's licenses, they're asked to present birth certificates and immigration papers such as passports and green cards to prove they are in the United States legally.
Those documents are then run through the federal SAVE (Systematic Alien Verification of Entitlements) system to verify the applicant's legal immigration status.
In the past month, about 2,100 applicants at DMV were told their documents needed further investigation. Of those, 177 met with investigators and were cleared as legal residents of Colorado. But more than 1,700 cases are pending.
Cooke says DMV will never see those applicants again because they know their documents are phony.
"We're asking them to go to our investigative unit so we can look into the matter, and we're not hearing back from them," Cooke said.
The 1,700-plus names have been sent to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, she said.
So far, DMV offices have also caught about 150 people attempting to use fraudulent birth certificates, and that number is climbing. Most of the certificates were authentic, but the person presenting the document was not the individual named on the certificate, Cooke said.
New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division officials discovered a hole in the state's security system recently when a division contract office in Tijeras was found to have issued 100 or more licenses to people thought to be illegal immigrants.
Since February, vanloads of immigrants found an empathetic 23-year-old clerk who took documents obtained elsewhere - many from Kansas - and issued new licenses to the applicants.
Officials learned of the problem only after an electrician working nearby got suspicious of the heavy traffic into the MVD office.
An audit by Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department detectives and the MVD says the clerk issued drivers licenses to at least 100 undocumented immigrants.
Sheriff's detectives arrested four men, all from Guatemala, who told Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents that they needed the licenses to get work in Kansas, according to federal court documents.
They spent between $10 and $700 to buy Social Security cards and birth certificates from unknown people in Liberal, Kan., according to the court documents.
Bernalillo County sheriff's Detective Bill Webb said last week those vendors directed the men to travel to Tijeras and find the clerk.
The Tijeras clerk was put on administrative leave, and could be fired pending the outcome of an investigation by the MVD and the Sheriff's Department, said Tijeras Mayor Gloria Chavez.
She said the clerk had been a good employee, and was particularly valuable because she spoke Spanish.
"We never saw it coming at all," Chavez said.
Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Erin Kinnard Thompson said the investigation is not yet complete.
But already, state officials are talking about making it more difficult for immigrants to get state driver's licenses.
MVD Director Ken Ortiz said last week that he and state Taxation and Revenue Secretary Jan Goodwin discussed reviewing the requirements for the 39 contract offices, including stricter oversight of employees.
The Taxation and Revenue Department had already started auditing licenses issued to about 30,000 immigrants to see whether they had proper documentation.
Immigrants can get a driver's license using a single piece of identification. The Richardson administration is considering adopting new regulations that would require two pieces of identification.
to "letty" ILLEGALS do NOT have insurance, don't you know that??!!!!! If they get in trouble, they just run BACK to mexico, or wherever!!!!!

When is the indictment coming for Obama? Question: "'Last year, The Seattle Times reported the biggest voter-registration fraud scheme in Washington history. Three ACORN employees pleaded guilty, and four more were charged for filling out and submitting more than 1,800 fictitious voter-registration cards during a 2006 registration drive in King and Pierce counties.' (Keith Ervin, 'Three plead guilty in fake voter scheme,' 10-30-2007)
This year, an ACORN employee in West Reading, PA, was sentenced for to up to 23 months in prison for identity theft and tampering with records. A second ACORN worker pleaded not guilty to the same charges and is free on $10,000 bail.
"Those are convictions from the past year. There are also examples of indictments this year, such as the four ACORN employees in Kansas City charged with identity theft and filing false registrations during the 2006 election and the Reynoldsburg fellow indicted on two felony counts of illegal voting and false registration, after being registered by ACORN to vote in two separate counties. And there are current investigations into ACORN for voter fraud all over the map: the Milwaukee ACORN for 200 to 300 fraudulent voter registration cards; the Cleveland ACORN for its submission of 75,000 voter registrations, many of which are fraudulent; the New Mexico ACORN, which claims to have taken 72,000 new voter registrations in the state since January, is under suspicion for 1,100 possibly fraudulent voter registration cards turned in to the Bernalillo County clerk's office recently.
http://www.postchronicle.com/commentary/article_212176420.sht ml
Sen. Barack Obama's record of working with ACORN dates back to before he ever ran for office, and continues today. His campaign has channeled more than $800,000 into ACORN's political-action arm for election activities. This relationship alone deserves far more scrutiny than it has gotten so far.

Why would any self-respecting human being do this? Question: I’m all for bucking the system but this is ridiculous.
SANTA FE, N.M. - A New Mexico appeals court on Friday ruled against a Los Alamos man who wanted to change his name to a phrase containing a popular four-letter obscenity.
The man appealed after a state district judge in Bernalillo County refused his request to change his name to "F--- Censorship!"
Judge Nan Nash ruled that the proposed name change was "obscene, offensive and would not comport with common decency."
The man — whose current legal name is Variable — argued on appeal that it was improper government censorship to deny him the name change.
"We do not believe that the district court's action infringes on petitioner's right to free speech," a three-judge panel of the Court of Appeals said in its ruling.
The man has the right to call himself whatever he wants, unless there's fraud or misrepresentation involved, the judges said.
But once he seeks court approval for a name change, the court has the authority to turn him down on several grounds, including if the name is offensive to common decency and good taste, the judges ruled.
That law was clarified in a 2004 case in the same court that apparently involved the same petitioner. In that case, an Albuquerque man whose name was Snaphappy Fishsuit Mokiligon got the go-ahead from the appeals court to change his name to Variable.
