Concord, the capitol, is a medium sized city. Places of interest include the Capitol building, the Christa(?) McCauliff planetarium - she was one of the shuttle crew on the shuttle that exploded after take off, the White mountains to the north, Boston is about an hour and a half south. For baseball there are the Concord Quarry dogs, members of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, 15 min south in Manchester is the New Hampshire Fisher Cats - the Toronto Blue Jays AA minor league team. Manchester also has hockey, the Manchester Monarchs, who are about to enter the playoffs; and football, the Manchester Wolves, an Arena Football II team. Indoor football. NASCAR has a track there, and it is best to avoid the area if you are not a fan during the racing weekends. There are numerous lakes and rivers in the area to swim and fish. About an hour east are the beaches.
The Capitol Center for the Arts has various shows through out the year. It is a congested area with lots of traffic for the area. About 45 min west, you have Vermont, and you are three hours from Montreal and 4 1/2 hours from Quebec City.

What do you think of Tancredo targets New Hampshire 'sanctuary state' bill ? Question: CONCORD, N.H.—If Presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo had his way, New Hampshire lawmakers behind an immigration bill would be thrown out of office and prosecuted for helping illegal immigrants. "If they actually implemented it, you bet. It's aiding and abetting. I think that's a pretty clear violation of the federal law," he said Wednesday of the bill, which would prohibit state and local authorities from enforcing federal immigration laws.
Tancredo, a Colorado congressman who has staked his long-shot campaign for president on his vehement opposition to illegal immigration, acknowledged some legal obstacles likely would prevent prosecuting state lawmakers over proposed legislation. Otherwise, "I'd be more than willing to pursue it," he said. Mayors and city councilors who adopt sanctuary city policies also should face criminal charges, he said.
Tancredo supports building a fence along the border with Mexico and strictly enforcing existing immigration laws, including deporting all illegal immigrants.
Visiting Concord ahead of an evening debate of Republican presidential candidates at the University of New Hampshire, Tancredo dove into state politics, demanding the ouster of the bill's sponsors—Democrats Lily Mesa of Manchester and Susi Nord of Candia—though he did not mention them by name. He also urged Gov. John Lynch, a Democrat, to speak out against the bill.
"It is a terrible idea and we need the governor to say something about it, for instance, 'I will veto any attempt to make New Hampshire a sanctuary state,'" Tancredo said.

Americans frustrated by influence wielded by Iowa, New Hampshire: Are you one among them ? Question: Americans frustrated by influence wielded by Iowa, New Hampshire
By HOLLY RAMER, Associated Press Writer
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — All eyes may be on Iowa and New Hampshire, but many of them are rolling.
Despite efforts to evict the two states from the front of the presidential calendar, both managed to hang on for another election cycle that culminates with the Iowa caucuses on Thursday and the New Hampshire primary on Jan. 8. As a year of media attention reaches its crescendo, voters in other states are saying enough is enough.
According to national survey conducted for The Associated Press and Yahoo News, just over half of all voters said New Hampshire and Iowa have an extraordinary amount of influence over who wins the two nominations.
"They have way too much — WAY too much — say," said Kevin Thomas of Tacoma, Wash. "California's a big state and they don't have any say, and Iowa's not even half the size of California. It really makes me as a voter wonder what's going on."
Fewer than one in five voters said they favor the current system that allows Iowa and New Hampshire to hold the first contests, while nearly 80 percent would rather see other states get their chance at the
"I think they should take turns, maybe take it to a small state like Rhode Island that doesn't have a whole lot of voting power," Thomas said.
Both states have been criticized as unrepresentative of the country given their size and lack of racial diversity. Iowa — population 3 million — is 95 percent white; New Hampshire — population 1.3 million — is 96 percent white. Democrats tried to inject more diversity into the process by adding early contests in Nevada and South Carolina, but Iowa and New Hampshire moved even earlier.
The system became so scrambled last year that New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner was prepared to move the primary into December to keep ahead of other states that scheduled their own early primaries and caucuses. If anything, the front-loaded calendar made Iowa and New Hampshire more important.
Gardner and other defenders of New Hampshire say the country — and the candidates — are well-served because the primary requires close contact with voters,
Iowa final sprint is all about turnout
AP via Yahoo! News Tue, 01 Jan 2008 2:23 AM PST
It's all about turning out voters now. After a year of stump speeches, TV ads and face-to-face politicking, presidential get-out-the-vote operations are in overdrive in the final hours before Iowa's caucuses. Campaigns largely are relying on traditional methods, what one operative terms the "knock-and-drag" approach — knock on doors and drag voters to the caucuses.
Answer:
No, I'm not frustrated, becuase the influence they hold is created by the voters. If the media didn't act as if they were deciding factors and the voting public did not sway their votes because of those first few caucuses and primaries, then they would not have an impact at all. The only unfairness of Iowa and New Hampshire having their primary/caucuses first is created by the public. If we all knew who we wanted for president and stuck with that vote no matter what the results of Iowa or NH, it wouldn't matter if your state voted first or last. :-)

Anyone from New Hampshire? Question: Hi there. I'm originally from California and am thinking about moving to NH. I like living in CA, but it's so expensive to live here. I pretty much need a good-paying job if I want to keep living here. How's the quality of life there? Any nightlife? Are jobs pretty easy to find there? Which parts of the Manchester, Nashua and Concord areas should I avoid?
Answer:
Well, I live in New Hampshire and have all my life. I love it here, but it's what I'm used to. I live in the Lakes Region, around the middle of the state, about a half an hour from Concord. There's not too much nightlife around here. There's a couple clubs, plenty of bars and pubs, and that's about it. Jobs are fairly easy to find, depending on what type of job you're looking for, of course. lol I'd avoid Manchester and Nashua all together, unless you're just going out or something. I wouldn't live around there - it's sketchy. I was born in Nashua. The Concord area's very nice, though.
Hope I could help! Good luck!
