Atlanta Classifieds Local classifieds for Atlanta, NE
City DescriptionAtlanta is a village in Phelps County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 130 at the 2000 census. During World War II the town was neighbored by Camp Atlanta, which housed more than 3,000 Nazi German prisoners of war over three years. The camp was said to house more prisoners during the war than the town had in its entire existence.
In the first part of the 20th century Atlanta was home to several amenities for neighboring farmers. They included a grocery store, post office, cafe, and a tourist shop for drivers on U.S. Route 6, as well as grain and corn elevators and two gas stations. Chataqua groups entertained at the town hall, with annual events such as the Atlanta Institute, which was an annual fair. There were also free outdoor "picture shows", and the Atlanta Industry Day Picnic. The Atlanta schoolhouse had eight grades. At the beginning of WWII, there was one street about two blocks long, with only a few business buildings drooping and dwindling along its edges.
During World War II, Camp Atlanta was established next to the town as an Allied Prisoner of War camp for German P.O.W.s. The Atlanta area had been the final choice of the U.S. Army to establish a $2,000,000 ... Read MoreCity Contained By:Timezones:Size:- 0.517997622067 km squared

Whom should the Atlanta Falcons pick with the # 10 pick ?? Question: possible good choices : DT Amobi Okoye-U of Louisville, FS LaRon Landry- LSU, DT Alan Branch -U of Michigan, OT Levi Brown- Pennsylvania St. ,RB Adrian Peterson--U of OK, DE Adam Carriker-- U of Nebraska,
Answer:
Actually I believe the Falcons have the 8th pick now and if Okoye is there he would be a great run stopper for them or they could take Carriker because they do have a need for DE since Patrick Kerney is gone and John Abraham has recurring groin issues.

Is it about time this came out? Some Jehovah's Witnesses want more than to leave Watchtowers ? Question: Towns where Alleged Jehovah's Witness Child molesters have been reported to silentlambs
Home
Listed by each state
If you would to add a new listing contact silentlambs at info@silentlambs.org
The list below is designed to alert you to a possible danger in your community. Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported.
We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made.
Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation.
Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities.
Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service.
Do not allow any member to study with your child alone.
Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults.
Avoid baby sitters that are adult males.
At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times.
Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts.
Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed.
Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester)
Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems.
Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone.
Note members that the elders avoid having around their children.
If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family.
If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored.
If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list.
If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place.
Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children.
If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members.
Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know.
If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work.
We hope this information is helpful and assists with the ultimate goal of silentlambs, protecting children. Check back as the list is updated on a regular basis.

I've been teaching people's children about atheism? Question: I hand out pamphlets outside schools to teach kids how not to believe in God. It's been very rewarding, most of them seem very convinced and quite happy to hear the news.
Here are my next stops:
Lincoln, Nebraska
Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Atlanta, Georgia
Sacramento, California
Charlotte, North Carolina
Topeka, Kansas
Does anyone know of any good schools where I can hand out more pamphlets, or some other cities I could visit?
JW -- Incorrect. There is nothing wrong with preaching to people. In fact, part of what's wrong with the world is the worst beliefs get preached the most. We need more atheist preaching.
Furthermore, people rarely "arrive at conclusions on their own." 90% of what I believe came from studying the works of other people.
I think I'd be a worse person if I knew the truth about science and the universe and DIDN'T do the right thing and tell children about it. Shame on those of you who keep the truth to yourselves.
Ethan -- the children ARE making their own decisions. I'm not forcing anyone to believe anything. But I am giving them all the information so they can make an educated decision. You don't want kids to have educations? You sicken me.
Genessa -- I understand your alarm, but disagree that their hysterics are a bad thing. What are they gonna do? Religion's days are numbered -- this is the age of information.
Answer:
Someone already mentioned Salt Lake City, but you should go there.
Target private religious schools!

What do you think of my Mock Draft!? Question: 1. Oakland Raiders- Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
2. Detroit Lions- Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU
3. Cleveland Browns- Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson
5. Arizona Cardinals- Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconson
6. Washington Redskins- Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
7. Minnesota Vikings- Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
8. Atlanta Falcons (f/Hou)- Laron Landry, S, LSU
9. Miami Dolphins- Levi Brown, OT, Penn St.
10. Houston Texans (f/Atl) – Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
11. San Francisco 49ers- Alan Branch, DT, Michigan
12. Buffalo Bills- Patrick Willis, MLB, Ole Miss
13. St. Louis Rams- Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas
14. Carolina Panthers- Greg Olsen, TE, Miami
15. Pittsburgh Steelers- Darrele Revis, CB, Pittsburgh
16. Green Bay Packers- Marshawn Lynch, RB, California
17. Jacksonville Jaguars- Adam Carekr, DE, Nebraska
18. Cincinnati Bengals- Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida St.
19. Tennessee Titans- Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee
20. New York Giants- Joe staley, OT, Central Michigan
21. Denver Broncos- Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida
22. Dallas Cowboys- Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
23. Kansas City Chiefs- Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU
24. New England Patriots- Paul Posluszny, OLB, Penn State
25. New York Jets- Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee
26. Philadelphia Eagles- Michael Griffin, S, Texas
27. New Orleans Saints- Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas
28. New England Patriots (f/Sea) - Reggie Nelson, S, Florida
29. Baltimore Ravens- John Beason, OLB, Miami
30. San Diego Chargers- Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State
31. Chicago Bears- Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC
32. Indianapolis Colts- Ben Grubbs, G, Auburn
I picked Calvin to go #1 because Oakland's shopping arounde for a QB. It's pretty obvious that they want him, but the QB is pulling them. Also, they want to deal Moss, and Porter isn't very good, so they want him desperately.
Justin ,I wouldn't be criticizing. You don't even know the draft order, so just shut up. The Browns are drafting at the 3rd position.
Answer:
Dude, i read your number 1 pick for the Raiders, and i stopped reading. Because the rest is obviously wrong.
If you dont see the Raiders picking up a QB in the 1st round, especially Jamarcus Russell or Brady Quinn, then theres something wrong with you.
The Raiders desperately need a QB than any other position. Why would they draft a WR when they dont have a good QB to throw the ball to him?????

What are some places in the U.S. you have no desire to visit? Question: For me:
-Chicago: most of the people I've met from there have been rude and obnoxious--so much, they make New Yorkers look really friendly.
-Detroit: obvious reasons
-Gary: I almost cry when I see pictures of its beautiful architecture just crumbling
-Birmingham, AL: been there, done that, why are people there SO leary of and almost rude to outsiders?
-Los Angeles: doesn't interest me in the very least
-Nebraska: what's there?
-Florida: very dirty, boring, unremarkable state. Going there 3 times has been enough for me.
Now, I LOVE New York City, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Texas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Give me those places again, or so much of our great country, anyday.,
I live in Kentucky. The movie "Deliverance" speaks volumes about our state, also.
Oh, I really don't want to go to New Orleans, either. Call me "jerk" or "elitist" or what you will, but it seems as if there is an incredibly large welfare state there that does nothing but whine about being in it but takes no individual action to draw themselves out of it.
Basically, what Deliverance means in this case is venturing into the backwoods only to discover truly backwoods hillbillies (no teeth, shotguns, just scary.) That's what the movie is, in a small nutshell.
Answer:
New Orleans -- I have no respect for the people there.
Los Angeles -- Been once, no desire to go again. Too uppity.
Florida -- heat, humidity and hurricanes; refugees, retirees and rednecks. Who needs it?
I loooove NYC, North and South Carolina, and I want to go to Texas, Washington State, Maine, Georgia, Colorado and Connecticut.

30/ San Diego Chargers Dwayne Bowe, WR, Louisiana State
31/ Chicago Bears Anthony Spencer, LB, Purdue
32/ Indianapolis Colts Justin Harrell DT Tennessee
Thanks Rome, have any supporting material (link) that says they are looking that way?
Answer:
This looks good as a whole but there are a few things to take into consideration.
1. Pittsburgh has expressed a huge ammount of intrest in Darelle Revis and he will not slip to the Pats.
2. In that case Polouszny slips to the Bengals and Beason will go to the Patriots as their Linebackers are getting old.
3. Tampa loves Calvin way too much and I personall see them swapping picks with the Lions to insure they get him. Lions will then take Gaines Adams.
4. Joe Staley may go to the Chiefs if you see them taking a lineman, Joe Staley is my personal pick, but they really could use a #1 receiver. Meachum, Bowe, and Ginn all possiblities.
5. I dont know why but teams love to take TE's too ealry so the Pathers or Green Bay may reach for Greg Olsen.
6. The Eagles have no real needs and will go with the best player on the board. So good call there, although they may want to add stability to an injury prone line.
*** Frayne its 3 wideouts in 5 years . . . Mike Williams, Roy Williams, and Charles Rogers. Harrington and Ernie Sims went somewhere in between.

Did Democrat's forget about Terrorism attacks in the United States? Question: 1980s
• 1980 March 15 Armed members of FALN raided the campaign headquarters of President Jimmy Carter in Chicago and the campaign headquarters of George H. W. Bush in New York City. Seven people in Chicago and ten people in New York were tied up as the offices were vandalized before the FALN members fled. A few days later, Carter delegates in Chicago received threatening letters from FALN.
• 1980 June 3: Bombing of the Statue of Liberty. At 7:30 PM, a time delayed explosive device detonated in the Statue of Liberty's Story Room. Detonated after business hours, the bomb did not injure anyone, but cause $18,000 in damage, destroying many of the exhibits. The room was sealed off and left unrepaired until the Statue of Liberty restoration project that began years later. FBI investigators believed the perpetrators were Croatian terrorists seeking independence for Croatia from Yugoslavia, though no arrests were made.
• 1980 July 22: Ali Akbar Tabatabai, an Iranian exile and critic of Ayatollah Khomeni, was shot in his Bethesda, Maryland home. Dawud Salahuddin, an American Muslim convert, was apparently paid by Iranians to kill Tabatabai.[14]
• 1981: Michael Donald was randomly selected to be lynched by two Ku Klux Klan members. He was beaten, had his throat slit, and was hung.
• 1982 January 28: Kemal Arikan, the Turkish Consul-General in Los Angeles, is killed by members of the Justice Commandos Against Armenian Genocide.
• 1982 May 4: Turkish Honorary Consul Orhan Gunduz was assassinated in his car in Somerville, Massachusetts by the Justice Commandos Against Armenian Genocide.

• 1984 In what is believed to be the first incident of bioterrorism in the United States the Rajneeshee cult spreads salmonella in salad bars at 10 restaurants in The Dalles, Ore., to influence a local election. Health officials say that 751 people were sickened and more than 40 hospitalized.[15]
• 1985 October 11: Alex Odeh, a prominent Arab-American, was killed by a bomb in his office in Santa Ana, California. The case is unsolved, but it is thought the Jewish Defense League was responsible.

The FBI has classified the group as the top domestic terror threat. Because they do not target people they have objected to being categorized as terrorists.
• 1994 March 1: Rashid Baz, a Lebanese national opens fire on a van carrying members of the Lubavitch Hasidic sect of Jews, killing one and wounding several others. The attack took place on the entrance ramp to the Brooklyn Bridge.

John Salvi was later convicted. He committed suicide in prison and guards found his body under his bed with a plastic garbage bag tied around his head.
• 1995 April 19: Oklahoma City bombing: A truck bomb shattered the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, killing 168 people-including children playing in the building's day care center. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols launched the attack in protest of the US government.

In a 2007 interview with the New York Daily News his daughter said her mothers story was a cover crafted by the Palestinian Authority and that her father wanted to punish the United States for its support of Israel [16]
• 1998 January 29: Robert Sanderson, an off-duty police officer who worked as a security guard at an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, died when his workplace was bombed on January 29, 1998. •1998 July 24: A gunman storms the United States Capitol and fatally wounds two United States Capitol Police officers.
• 1998 October 23: Dr. Barnett Slepian was shot dead at his home in Amherst, New York on October 23, 1998. Best Game? Question: What do you think the best game of this NCAA year will be?
I got Florida @ LSU.I am a huge Gator fan and Death Valley @8 pm is a scarey place for anyone to play. This will be a battle and hopefully my Gators will come out on top.But you will see a rematch in Atlanta on DEC. 1, 2007.
Runner ups-Alabama VS.FSU in Jacksonville
Va. Tech @ LSU
USC @ Nebraska
What game are you Waiting to see?
Edit to Deacon: I will be excited to see Florida beat the crap out of Auburn this year, but I don;t think it will be much of a game because we play in the SWAMP this year and Auburn can't bring their own refs like they had at home last year.
SEE:Florida game(Incomplete pass called a fumble)LSU game(receiver got tackled,but not pass interference?)
Answer:
I'm eager to see the start of a rivalry between Alabama and my Noles. However, I can't be convinced that it will be in the national spotlight considering both team's recent stumbles. Hopefully they'll have good years. For national title implications, your pick of FL vs LSU is good and I'll throw in OSU vs Michigan because I look forward to that every year and it could have title implications once again.
