City DescriptionAshland is a city in Saunders County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 2,262 at the 2000 census.
Ashland is located at the site of a low-water limestone ledge along the bottom of Salt Creek, an otherwise mud-bottomed stream that was a formidable obstacle for wagon trains on the great westward migrations of the late 1840s and 1850s. The Oxbow Trail, a variant route of the Oregon Trail, ran from Nebraska City (on the Missouri River) to Fort Kearny (on the Platte River), where it joined the main route of the Oregon Trail. The limestone bottom of Salt Creek at Ashland made it an excellent fording site. A trading post, Saline Ford, developed at the ford. A village, Flora City, was platted on the hills overlooking the ford. These twin towns later incorporated as Ashland.
Today, Ashland benefits by its proximity to Interstate 80 and the cities of Omaha and Lincoln. While in some respects Ashland is becoming a "bedroom community" of those much larger cities, it retains a rural character. That coherence as a community, and a 30-minute drive to either of the state's economic hubs, has led to a building boom in the late 1990s and the 2000s.

Questions Possibly Related to Ashland, NebraskaProvided By Y! Answers
Anybody been to Camp Ashland, Nebraska? Question: I was just kind of wondering what I have to "look forward to" this week!
Answer:
Yes. I did both PLDC (now called WLC) and BNCOC at Ashland. It's a pretty good place to do those schools, and close to both Lincoln and Omaha. WLC we had bay barracks which we had to keep pretty clean, but if I remember correctly, did not have to buff the floors. At BNCOC we had private rooms with maid service (seriously!) and semi-private latrines. I think the OCS guys (if that's what you're doing there) have bay barracks as well. There is a little PX there that has limited hours where you can purchase snacks and such, and even have a beer, as long as you consume it in the PX area. When I was there for BNCOC, I was allowed to leave the camp after classes were done...I think I ate dinner out in Omaha almost every night I was there.
Anyway, as far as NCO academies, it's one of the better ones, I think.

Looking for the website for Eugene T. Mahoney State park lodging in Ashland, Nebraska..I just need one link.? Question: I had made a reservation for a family member and myself...I didn't actually use the website, my family member did and reserved a cabin for next year. I just wanted to see what I am paying for exactly. And possibly reserve another. I have attempted with searching on Google and Yahoo, MSN etc... I have almost given up now. All I find are websites about the park, not for the park. If someone could help I would really appreciate it Thanks.
Answer:
I believe I have found the link your relative used to reserve. Nebraska uses a service called Great Lodge.
Here is the link at the NGPC website:
