    Belt is a town in Cascade County, Montana, United States. The population was 633 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Great Falls Metropolitan Area. The current mayor is John Masonovich. The town is home to Belt Elementary School, Belt Middle School and Belt High School (sometimes called Belt Valley High School), collectively known as Belt School. Currently Calvin Johnson is the superintendent and Kathleen Prody is the principal. The current school building was built in 1949, though several major additions have followed, the most recent of which was completed in the late '90s. The town's main street is called 'Castner Street' after its founder, John Castner. The street is home to the majority of the town's businesses, notably the Belt Creek Brew Pub, Belt Valley Grocery, and the Belt Creek Cafe. Belt is located at 47°23′9″N 110°55′36″W / 47.38583, -110.92667 (47.385935, -110.926587). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 633 people, 273 households, and 168 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,877.0 people per square mile (718.8/km²). There

    The Tension Pulley was supposably changed, the squeaking stopped for a few hours then came back even worse, what could this be, when we washed the engine at the car wash the squeaking stopped when the belts got wet, why?

    Answer:
    Take it back to the mechanic and have them fix it right. If they changed the tension pulley the only left that can make that noise is the belt. I don't know any mechanic that will take the time to install a new tensioner pulley without installing a new belt. A new belt cost only $20 or less in most cases and by replacing the tensioner you already have to have the old belt off why would you put an old belt back on is beyond me. Usually if the pulley fails the belt is way over due for a replacement as well. Plus it makes sense to put a new one one if the old is already out is already out of the way. He may have charged you for a part he never replaced which is the tensioner. What he did was probably just adjusted the tension on the belt which only takes minutes to do. It should not have come back in a few hours if they did the job right and as they stated. The reason it stopped squeaking is the water lubricated the bearing on the tensioner and the belt itself. The noise will come back after it dries in a few hours again. Take it back and have them do it right as you already paid for it. Tell them you want to see your old tensioner. They probably say they already threw it away. If that is the case also ask them to see the invoice of the part that they use or order to fix your car. They should have a record of that as they are suppose to use that report their cost of operation to the tax man. If they can't product any invoice of the part that they order to fix your car on the date that you had your car repaired they are lying and never take your car back there again.

    The tensioner on a 3.4 is a spring tensioner and should be located on the front of the engine, passenger side about mid way down the front of the engine. You don't adjust it. You can put a wrench on the tensioner pulley bolt and pull up to relieve the tension to get the belt off. Then you re-route a new belt and relieve tension again making sure the belt is routed properly on all of the pulleys and release the tension of the tensioner back onto the belt. If your tensioner is not working properly, you need to replace it. It is not a serviceable item.

    I live in the bible belt, NC, some joke it's the belt buckle. I orginally lived in Co for 14 years. I had no problems with Christens untill I moved here, not that I have a problem with all of them. Moving here I thought, bible belt, people will be kind and welcoming and wont be so rude. Since moving here there is what we call christen when convenient. It's good to spout out moral wrongs to others however lacking the morals of the spouter are. I find people are a lot more rude when going to the store or out to eat. Driving is just horrible. Racism is really bad. All that ignorence and hate bottled up in one little belt and you can understand why murder is higher. With unmarried mothers a lot who are young you have a lack of knowledge because again, morally, you shouldn't have sex till your married, because the bible said so. Instead of teaching them how to prevent getting pregnant. Poverty and welfare I would also say a lack of knowledge. The schools down here are really bad and over vrowded. I was homeschooled but my younger brother wanted to try school. First grade went well but we moved and second grade was horrible. His teacher said he had ADD when he doesn't. In fact she wouldn't give personal help durring class to explain anything unless the kid was ADD. Which most of her class was. I guess it's easier to teach to drugged up kids. After that he was homeschooled. We still hear about the horrors of public school. Some parents pulling their kids in and out of schools trying to find a better one even if that means driving to another town.

    Hi, I just noticed your post. Where in the Bitteroot Valley? I grew up near there just over the mountain in Salmon Idaho with the Bitterroot mountains as a backdrop. We frequently went to Missoula, Hamilton, and Darby. I would NOT call it a banana belt though. Possibly because it is more surrounded by mountains, there is less wind and wind chills. But the temps there are quite cold and there is certainly snow. But coming from Minnesota, it probably will not be any colder. It is a dry cold, so may not feel as cold to you. But I know it gets below zero multiple times during the coldest part of the winter, in late December and early January. But it is certainly a beautiful place to live, well worth the cold. Fran W

    extremely common on the 3.4 v6 engine ... lower intake manifold gaskets split and start leaking coolant and sometimes engine oil. being a gm tech. i have seen many many of these.. probley done 100 myself. it is a fairly spendy repair, maybe around the 700 dollar mark.i would recommend a dealer repair as it can be a pain to do. if you have them done or do them yourself, be sure to have the distributor o-ring replaced as well. its only a 2 dollar part and is much much cheaper to replace while the engine is apart. hope this helps
