City DescriptionBaker is a city in and the county seat of Fallon County, Montana, United States. The population was 1,695 at the 2000 census.
It was named after A.G. Baker, an engineer with the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad.
Baker is located at 46°21′53″N 104°16′30″W / 46.36472, -104.275 (46.364817, -104.275089).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.5 km²), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.2 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (10.53%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,695 people, 694 households, and 455 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,974.8 people per square mile (761.0/km²). There were 855 housing units at an average density of 996.2/sq mi (383.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.11% White, 0.24% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.65% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.24% of the population.
