City DescriptionBertrand is a city in Mississippi County, Missouri, United States. The population was 740 at the 2000 census.
Bertrand is located at 36°54′37″N 89°26′54″W / 36.91028, -89.44833 (36.910323, -89.448213). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 740 people, 316 households, and 207 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,115.2 people per square mile (432.9/km²). There were 351 housing units at an average density of 528.9/sq mi (205.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.81% White, 2.84% African American, 0.41% Native American, and 0.95% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.41% of the population.
There were 316 households out of which 21.5% had children under the age of 18 residing with them, 52.2% were married couples living together, 13.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 29.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.66.
