• Rolling truck cited in St Louis County man's drowning
  

  Authorities say 62-year old Edward Harris, of Berkeley, was able to free himself from the cab of his rolling truck as it became submerged in the waters of what locals refer to as 'Big Lake'. A fellow fisherman said Harris was trying to swim towards the stranded vessel, when he went under the water around 5 Wednesday afternoon.

Berkeley is an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis, located in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 10,063 at the 2000 census. Portions of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport are within the city limits. Berkeley incorporated in 1937. Berkeley is located at 38°44′32″N 90°20′0″W / 38.74222°N 90.333333°W / 38.74222; -90.333333 (38.742250, -90.333288). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.9 square miles (12.8 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 10,063 people, 3,600 households, and 2,588 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,040.6 people per square mile (788.1/km²). There were 3,953 housing units at an average density of 801.6/sq mi (309.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 20.64% White, 76.69% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.08% of the population.
