The first European settler in Arnold was Jean Baptiste Gamache, who operated a ferry boat across the Meramec River in exchange for 1050 arpents of land granted by the King of Spain. This ferry was on the King's Trace or El Camino Real, (royal road), from St. Louis, Missouri, to Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. This road became known as Telegraph after 1850, after the first telegraph lines in the state were put along it.

where can i get my belly button pierced in St.Louis or Arnold Missouri for kindof cheap but good?
Answer:
Cheap is really not something you should care about when looking for someone to poke a hole in your body that you want to heal well and look nice.
That said, Cheaptrx has a good reputation and from what I hear, they are less than expensive. http://www.cheaptrx.com/custom3_1.html
If you're willing to drive to alton, il (about half an hour from St Louis) you can go to my personal favorite, Body Treasures. Don't expect cheap though as you will be pierced with implant grade jewelry. Also you'll be best off to make an appointment before driving up since their piercer also tattoos and is usually booked up. http://www.bodytreasures.com/index.html

I need my cat declawed and fixed. Where is the cheapest place near Arnold missouri?
Answer:
Why do you need to get your cat declawed? If you're concerned about it scratching your furniture there are other, more humane alternatives such as trimming their claws or little plastic claw covers. Declawing surgery doesn't just remove a cat's claws. The toe is amputated up to the first joint. Imagine how painful and it would be to have your fingers amputated to the first knuckle. I am sure you love your cat; please consider just exactly what this surgery entails and what other options you have for discouraging annoying scratching behavior.

where would i go to find out what happened to a relatives estate after they passed away? Question: The person died in 2007 in Missouri. She resided in a "care facility" in Clayton and her home was in Arnold.
Okay - more detail - she was "being taken care of" (and i use that term losely) by her youngest son. i don't "want" anything...but i would like to know how it ended up. i know he got it all, my husband didn't even know she died till we went to visit the next month. But i have no clue where to look.
Answer:
If she died testate (with a will), her estate would go to here named beneficiaries. If she died intestate (without a will), her estate would go to her heirs at law -- probably her children.
If you want to find out what happened to her estate, you can check the office of the Register of Wills of the county in which she died. Since her residence was Arnold, it would probably be the Jefferson County Circuit Court. If her estate was probated in Clayton, it would be the St. Louis County Circuit Court.

Looking for a street bike? Question: My husband is getting rid of his car and looking for a cheap motorcycle. He prefers street bikes. We have been looking around and can't find much so I'm asking for your help. He has about $1000.00 so he knows he isn't going to get something great but just something that runs decent and the looks really doesn't matter. We live in Arnold Missouri. It would be great to find something close but he is willing to drive to get it. Thanks for your help.
Answer:
I would check on Ebay Motors... go to the motorcycle section and see what's for sale nearby. Also, find out where all your local dealerships are, and see what they have for sale. This time of year is good for finding good deals. Just do some research, you'll find something!

I'm looking for somewhere in st.louis to throw a birthday party? Question: IM TRYING TO THROW A BIRTHDAY PARTY OF LIKE 30 PEOPLE AND IM LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE IN EITHER FENTON OR ARNOLD MISSOURI OR ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THAT ITS FOR MARCH 21ST. MOST OF THE PEOPLE WILL BE 21 OR OLDER BUT THERE WILL BE A FEW YOUNGER PEOPLE. PLEASE HELP ME FIND SOMEWHERE NOT TO EXPENSIVE.
THANK YOU!
Answer:
Depends on what you want to do at your party. March 21st is Good Friday so its possible that a lot of restaurants (not those who specialize in fish) and other spots may not be busy. Some of these have small rooms or areas where you can all eat together. You can check with the local bowling alleys to see if you can rent a few lanes to start out the party and follow up with pizza. Another thought is to check out the local VFW,American Legion or Knights of Columbus halls where you can usually rent them pretty cheaply and bring in your own food and music and decorations.

Answer:
Of course they are hypocrites, but the truth is that people really play more attention to what you say than what you do; and, in the mean time they are being tricked into voting against their best interests by this red herring "family values" issue.
By this I mean that many of the "family values" voters are economically vulnerable people who need better health care and education, things which most Conservatives tend to oppose for those who can't pay for it; but, many poor people vote for these people because they are "family values" candidates and perhaps do a bit of a religious song and dance to go along with it.
They go to church because they need to believe that there is something better for them out there somewhere and maybe there is in some afterlife, but in the meantime their "faith" is being used against them in this life.

Answer:
Yes, there are hypocrites in both parties and both parties should kick their hypocrites to the curb. That said, I believe the problem goes back to about thirty years ago when the right-wing religious coalitions hijacked the Republican Party. Since then, we've seen a steady shift from 'fiscal conservatism' to 'social conservatism'. Barry Goldwater, a TRUE conservative had an opinion:
http://www.liberalslikechrist.org/about/goldwater.html
What we need is restoration of the balance of power to the branches of government, government accountability and INTEGRITY. Politics needs to get out of the business of legislating morality and let people alone to determine and live by their own 'family values'.

Conservative Personalities and Figure Scandals

There are many, many, many more. I know that I am going to be accused of being repub-coserv-basher. I am not, I know the democrats have just as many scandals if not more. However, I think that the whole PLATFORM OF CONSERVATIVE FAMILY VALUES IS A DISINGENIOUS strategy to rally votes and to swing elections. THIS LIST DEMONSTRATES THE FACT THAT NO ONE PRACTICES WHAT THEY PREACH!!!
I also believe that we are all human and everyone makes mistakes, but it is VERY HYPOCRITICAL to impose ideas that these “cultural-icons” don’t keep!

Thank you for posting this question. I have often wondered why people will waste an entire vote for national office on something as simple as gay marriage. It's one of those issues that, if it has nothing to do with you (ie, you're straight) it has nothing to do with you. Yet many people in this country have voted against their own economic and social self-interest because something was framed as a "family value".
The Neo-cons have been extraordinarily good at framing issues in a way that brings them votes.
Watch the speech from The American President where he talks about how to win elections.
Take care.

Do you think that Family Values is nothing but bait for the Christian Vote? Question: Why is it that republican and religious and secular conservatives continue make family values an election issue. The issue of family values and morality was ONE of the hallmark reasons for the Republican take-over of congress and it was also used as a theme during Bush’s first run for office.
Read the list of “hypocrites” below and respond whether or not you think that family values was/is a “SMOKE SCREEN” to win favor and votes
POPULAR SCANDALS
1.Senator Larry Craig, recently pleaded guilty to lued homosexual acts in an Airport. He still defiantly claims that he is not gay.
2.Mark Foley, had phone sex and indecent conversations with male pages.
3.George W. Bush, Republican president, accused in a criminal complaint and lawsuit of raping Margie Schoedinger, who later committed suicide. Accused by Tammy Phillips, a former stripper quoted in the National Enquirer in 2000 saying she had an affair with Bush that had ended in 1999
4.Senator David Vitter (R-La) who ran a hard-core platform on traditional family values, name was found on a Madams list. He told his constituents that it was a “private issue” and to leave him alone.
5.Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican governor, had sex with a 16 year old when he was 28.
6.Joe Scarborough, former Republican Congressman, currently a conservative talk show host. Resigned his congressional seat abruptly to spend more time with his family, amidst allegations of an affair. His intern, Lori Klausutis, was soon after found dead in his office. The medical examiner, who had his license revoked in Missouri for falsifying information in an autopsy report, and suspended in Florida for six years, ruled the case an accident, after giving conflicting information about her injuries. He said he lied about them because "The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury."
7.John E. Peterson, Congressman (R-Pa), accused of sexual harassment and creation of a hostile work environment by six women. Peterson has refused to admit a crime, saying only "I may have been an excessive hugger."

Harley, You make excellent points. However, my point is not that these people are "flawed" but that they pretend not to be and get on the bully pulpit to talk about values that they don't believe. (It is a smoke screen for votes). By the way, there is no use DIGGING UP THE DEAD AND ISSUES THAT HAPPENED 30 YEARS AGO. MY list is fairly current!
Answer:
I believe it is hypocritical of the Dems to make Craig an issue when the Dems have plenty of dirty laundry. Republicans rid themselves of bad apples, Dems re-elect theirs or in Clinton's case, keep them in Office. Here are about 10 to start with, if more are needed, inquire within.
30 years ago ...lol .. look at #1. Some of the dates are when they were first caught but continued to serve the public. Why do Dems always put timetables on their arguments, as if it lessens the act. I can get you a more current list, my point was how long they are kept in office.
With the flawed "party" logic, I guess we could say all Senators are the same or all people from Idaho, doesn't make much sense.
(D) President Clinton ... we all know this one.
Sen. Daniel Inouye. The 82-year-old Hawaii Democrat was accused by numerous women of sexual harassment. (Democrats) cast doubt on the allegations and the Senate Ethics Committee dropped its investigation.
Former Rep. Gus Savage. The Illinois Democrat was accused of fondling a Peace Corps volunteer while on a trip to Africa.
Rep. Barney Frank. The outspoken Massachusetts Democrat hired a male prostitute who ran a prostitution service from Frank’s residence. Only two Democrats in the House of Representatives voted to censure him.
Former Sen. Brock Adams. The late Washington Democrat was forced to stop campaigning after numerous accusations of drugging, assault and rape, the first surfacing in 1988.
Former Rep. Fred Richmond. This New York Democrat was arrested in 1978 for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old. He remained in Congress and won re-election—before eventually resigning in 1982 after pleading guilty to tax evasion and drug possession.
Former Rep. John Young. The late Texas Democrat increased the salary of a staffer after she gave in to his sexual advances. The Congressman won re-election in 1976 but lost two years later.
Former Rep. Wayne Hays. The late Ohio Democrat hired an unqualified secretary reportedly for sexual acts. Although he resigned from Congress, the Democratic House leadership stalled in removing him from the Administration Committee.
Former Rep. Gerry Studds. He was censured for sexual relationship with underage male page in 1983. Massachusetts voters returned him to office for six more terms.
Former Rep. Mel Reynolds. The Illinois Democrat was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault with a 16-year-old. President Bill Clinton pardoned him before leaving office.
Sen. Teddy Kennedy. The liberal Massachusetts senator testified in defense of nephew accused of rape, invoking his family history to win over the jury in 1991.
