City DescriptionSturgis is a town in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 206 at the 2000 census.
Sturgis, Mississippi has hosted "Sturgis South", an all-bike motorcycle rally for the past 10 years. According to Scott Smith, former Mayor of Sturgis, in 2005 around 20,000 visitors attended that year's rally. The most recent was August 18-20, 2006 and features the music of Little Feat, Confederate Railroad, 38 Special and Charlie Daniels.
Sturgis is located at 33°20′38″N 89°2′48″W / 33.34389, -89.04667 (33.344027, -89.046618).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 206 people, 83 households, and 61 families residing in the town. The population density was 158.3 people per square mile (61.2/km²). There were 92 housing units at an average density of 70.7/sq mi (27.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 93.69% White, 5.83% African American, 0.49% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.97% of the population.
