City DescriptionPope is a village in Panola County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 241 at the 2000 census.
Pope is located at 34°12′54″N 89°56′39″W / 34.215, -89.94417 (34.214976, -89.944299).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 241 people, 88 households, and 69 families residing in the village. The population density was 238.4 people per square mile (92.1/km²). There were 96 housing units at an average density of 95.0/sq mi (36.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 83.82% White, 14.52% African American, and 1.66% from two or more races.
There were 88 households out of which 40.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.8% were married couples living together, 17.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.5% were non-families. 17.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.09.
